I can't believe it took me this long to try the Yankee bean. I've wanted to since it opened and finally made it. They knocked it out of the park in terms of quality and inventiveness of their soups and sandwiches. I started with a Thai coconut chicken soup that was phenomenal. Even the super quality oyster crackers they served with it were a cut above the usual ones. I followed up with a curried chicken salad on pumpernickel that was perfectly seasoned, lots of chicken and such fresh bread. And the hibiscus tea they make in house is the perfect refreshing drink to round out any lunch. My friend Cory loved her sandwich and soup as well. Such an awesome little sandwich and soup shop! Honestly you would never know where it is unless you google this place first, or have been to the Salvage Store that is in front of it! Today I went in for the first time and ordered some takeout Gnocci Soup. Inside is small with a few tables set up, and I ordered from a window where you can see straight into the kitchen. The ladies there taking my order were exceptionally nice and you could tell they were all hard at work. The food being served looks spectacular. Super fresh salads and sandwiches were coming out. Their food is fabulous and fresh, and their soups are to die for. If you go on their website, they have a list of the soups for the day, and I have yet to try one I did not like. I tried it and it is very flavorful. I tried the Italian sausage & spinach soup that was one of the soups of the day. It was wonderful as well. Very rich. Both soups had a great marriage of flavors -- you can tell they really know what they're doing. Sandwiches were well-prepared, as well, with top-shelf ingredients. This hole in the wall has a ton of character. It's very small, but has BIG flavor. I ordered the half sandwich with a cup of soup. The White Bean Bacon soup was delicious and had real ingredients. My husband of forty-plus years has been on a quest to find a Cuban sandwich like those at the old Silver Ring in Ybor City. Today we found it here at the Yankee Bean. The pork had the right seasonings and the bread was delicious and fresh (that's key as we never used to heat the sandwich unless we had frozen it to take cross country). YB does press theirs but we asked them not to, and they cheerfully respected my request for no mayo and pickles on just one half as well People were very nice and we saw some other things on the menu of interest, so we'll be back. First time coming here, and it's a super cute little place. The parking lot was completely empty so we were wondering if It was even open, and were a little skeptical of how good it could be. It's pretty small, with 4-5 tables, and we order the California Cuban, and spinach and mushroom soup. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and as we were waiting, the place flooded with people picking up orders! Even though they seemed super busy with pick up orders, our food came out fast, and these Cubans are huge! My husband and I split a soup and sandwich and we could barley finish either! Half of the sandwich could easily fill up a single person, so splitting the meal, or ordering thier half sandwich and cup of soup seems the best way to go! I'm not sure but it must be merely an oversight, that I haven't reviewed this yet (others either.) This is my favorite Friday lunch spot! It is a little luncheon, if you don't look for it or know it's there you would miss it. I'm certainly glad I haven't! For the last, I'm thinking 4-5 years, I've frequented Yankee Bean almost weekly. They serve a full range of boars head meat sandwiches, along with a full menu of other salads and sandwiches. All of the ingredients are fresh, and oh the home made soups, mmm-yummm! I've never had a bad soup here, I'm allergic to pork so I can't attest to the house Yankee bean personally but I hear it is good enough to come back for, however I can attest to other soups, from the chicken orzo to the cream of mushroom, I've yet to be disappointed. I favor the egg salad, it is simple with no added crunchy things to take over the texture and flavor of the egg salad served on pumpernickel toast, add to that the touch of avocado (it comes with bacon too, but as I previously mentioned no swine ingesting here.) I also recommend the hummus wrap and the curry chicken salad (a touch of curry and golden raisins it's genius.) Don't forget to try the home made hot sauce and buy extra potato salad as you are going to want more than the morsel served on the side, b/c it is just so vinegary and delicious. The only thing that I've been missing the last few times are the home made pickles, I'm guessing he couldn't meet the demand or maybe the cucumber crop wasn't to par, but they make my mouth water just typing this. The restaurant is only open Mon-Fri 11am til 3pm, they are family owned and operated and you will never catch them on a bad day, which of course means the service is always spectacular. If you live, work, or just happen to be visiting the Tarpon Springs area during the week this is definitely the place to stop for lunch! read more

I would say food is like my mom used to cook, but this is better (sorry mom).
