Was very excited to find a sushi restaurant nearby. One evening my husband and I decided to stop in for dinner. They display neon beer signs on their windows yet do not serve any beer? The restaurant appears very clean, but has a musty smell. The staff was friendly, and our food arrived fairly quick however, it was very disappointing from what we are accustomed to. I think they should do a complete overhaul of the restaurant and remove the lighted beer signs if they don't serve the product. They do appear to be quite busy, however, coming from California and having traditional sushi is far from what they serve. We will not be returning read more

This place was excellent! We were craving sushi so we decided to stop here and try. The place had a great ambience, was quiet, clean, and the service was wonderful. Everyone was very sweet, accommodating, and cheerful. We tried two appetizers: the spring rolls and fried shumai, and loved both. We also had the vegetable soba noodles, a chicken fried rice, the Godzilla sushi rolls, and shrimp tempura sushi rolls. All the food was very delicious, with great portions for a relatively inexpensive price. I would definitely eat here again and recommend the restaurant to anyone. read more

Traveling, stopped in Manchester for the night. Decided to try some sushi. Lack of vehicles in the parking lot made us a little skeptical but as we waited for the food a steady stream of take out answered that question. Not much for the outside but Tastefully appointed on the inside and clean throughout. Service was very friendly and prompt. Contrary to previous comments they do serve beer , limited selection of domestic and Asian imported beers. After 9 years in Japan my expectations were low but that was answered when they brought the first dish. Not only were the plates and the utensils correct but the Brown Dragon special rolls that I ordered were presented fabulously with flowers and shredded beets. The portions were much larger that I've gotten at upscale expensive Sushi houses. Both the shrimp tempura and the brown dragon rolls we had were exceptionally well done I especially liked the fact that the eel on the brown Dragon Roll was lightly battered and fried before putting it on the sushi which created an extra layer of crunch that just added that much more to it. So in my opinion exceptional food, inexpensive, tastely done and I would highly recommend it to anyone stopping through there. read more

Went out to eat the other day to Yamato in Manchester, everything was good until I got the bill with a 15% Tip already calculated into the final price. When I asked when tips became mandatory the answer was "you didn't tip last time" I'm extremely irritated that they more or less make you tip, let alone the fact that they think its alright to do so. I always had tipped before hand but now will not be going back due to this, if you eat there keep an eye on your bill. read more

Yes, I know there is no ocean in or near Tennessee. Yes, I know sushi is raw fish. However, this place isn't all bad. Lunch specials are very reasonably priced and extremely filling. Their specialty rolls were quite tasty. We stopped in for lunch one day. I tried the tempura shrimp bento box, minus the California roll. The lady was nice enough to replace it with an extra spring roll, score! I also ordered a spider roll, not realizing that it would be too much food. The spider roll was quite large and had plenty of soft shell crab. I wasn't a fan of the sweet sauce on it; there was just too much of it. The bento box included soup (choice of miso or onion), salad (just lettuce with a few carrot shreds but very refreshing when you add the yummy sauce), a spring roll, fried rice, and a small California roll (switched out for an extra spring roll). The four pieces of shrimp tempura were HUGE and delightfully crunchy. I don't think I've had better tempura in a long time. I managed to down it all and was so full. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd stop in again. read more

Out of any Japanese restaurant around the area, this is the best one for sure! The food is delicious, the staff is incredibly kind, and I always bring my friends here when they are in town (they all love it too!). Sure there are places better than this in the city, but as far as small-town Japanese food goes, it's a 10 out of 10! I recommend the onion soup, the sweet potato rolls, and the spring rolls! My soup and salad came first and I couldn't even eat either. The miso soup was luke warm and tasteless. Then, the sushi rolls that I had was underwhelming. They seemed ok with that, BUT refused to give me extra rice because it "was a rule". Very rude about it too. I left without buying dinner. Will never return because of the rudeness. A co worker and myself called in a to go order. The waitress could hardly speak English and after several minutes on the phone, she had our order. Upon arriving, the restaurant was almost empty, which is usually a sign that things aren't so great being it was lunch time. When we started to pay, my friend asked for yum yum sauce, the waitress punched in more numbers on the cash register, without saying anything. He asked her about it and she stated the sauce was $.50 extra, which would have been ok had it been more than the small portion she grabbed. To top that, she charged him $.85. It apparently made her mad and took his food from the sack and placed it in another(both orders were together). She was very rude and her body language showed her anger.I paid for my hibachi dinner and we left. Upon returning to eat, my dinner was missing the soup and salad, not to mention my portion was small. I immediately called them and asked if my meal came with soup and salad, which she agreed it did. After explaining what happened, she stayed on phone in silence, Then asked me if I wanted to make an order....geesh!! Never again! Stopped here while driving to Atlanta, despite the previous review and probably should have went somewhere else. The waitress could barely understand English and kept having to get another girl to translate to take my order. There was no other customers in there so there was no wait. I got my soup and salad first. Miso soup was luke warm and not that great, salad came out with no dressing and I had to wait for my waitress to get the other girl to know what I was wanting.... About 8 minutes later I got my food and it tasted ok but definitely not the best Japanese food. The steak was chewy and fried rice was plain and only has scallions in it. To top things off while I was paying my check at the register and asked the other girl if I could get a drink to go. She went to get it and apparently the waitress told her no I couldn't have a to go drink. So yeah, I am guessing that my waitress is the owner or manager or something along those lines. Whatever the case might be I thought her rude attitude deserved a rude attitude back and I left without giving her a tip! read more
