My sister and I ate lunch one day at Yamato Japanese Steakhouse and I will say, I was extremely surprised about the freshness of the food, how the waitstaff was extremely attentive and how they recommended certain items on the menu. When the server took our order, I noticed how aesthetically pleasing to the eye the restaurant looked. Clean, minimal artwork, but yet very tastefully decorated with the right lighting. Our food was delicious and platted artfully. Keep in mind, this is not a high-priced restaurant at all, the prices are $-$$ and this restaurant gives you a lot of food for the money. The next time I come back, I will post what I ordered. People, take the time to come and eat at this restaurant, you won't be disappointed. The food was great! I really liked the fact that they use salmon on their Mississippi Roll. Also, their yum yum sauce is a different color than most; but it tastes awesome! The only thing I didn't like is that I felt rushed. They really push the check on you. I enjoyed the ambiance and it was like an hour before closing time. I would have been happier if I had to request my check. Lastly, I like that you can see the chefs working but just be prepared for a typical sit down dinner. Great food for even greater prices. The fried rice and udon with steak had generous, well cooked chunks of steak. That lovely grilled, smoky flavor of the meat was throughout the sauce on the udon as well. read more

I've eaten a lot of sushi in my day and I have to say, the sushi bento box was phenomenal! Each piece was very tasty, and the fish was very fresh and tender. The salmon was just ok, too much sauce. The steak was prepared the way we asked for it and was good. The vegetables consisted mostly of onions and zucchini. Portions are great. Service falls short. Waited 10 minutes after being seated to order and another 30 minutes for our food. Overall falls just under average. read more

Just tried this place for lunch today. It's been open for about 3 weeks now. We were seated in the back room which I found very dirty. You can tell they didn't spend much time getting this part ready, more attention was focused on the main dining area. Anyway, we ordered from the lunch menu and the portions were great for lunch. We didn't order sushi, just hibachi. I had chicken and shrimp. They put it in a teriyaki sauce which I didn't care for. My husband got steak and shrimp and it had no sauce, wish I had gotten that! There is no "show" here like at other hibachi restaurants. The rice was great, I wish I had just ordered the fried rice with shrimp. I will get that next time. read more
