I ordered the 3 skewers mix kebab, a beef shawarma wrap, grape leaves, and side of the red rice. 10/10, food was cooked to perfection- the chicken, beef and lamb was so juicy and flavored beautifully, both types of rice were so aromatic and delicious, and the hummus??? so smooth and flavorful, it's so good. The grape leaves were yummy, chilled and a good small bite. Add in the shawarma wrap and it just made it all perfect. Instant food coma and extremely happy belly. It is a cute restaurant with a nice balance of sit down and enjoy or order to go. I ordered to go and they were so kind and welcoming. Its tangy and milky flavor is outstanding, accompanied by the soft and glutinous rice and lamb legs cooked and salted to perfection, for those who love cheese without a doubt this is a must try. However, I have to say this might not be the authentic version of Mansaf I've seen in other recipes, since it did not come with the flat bread which is an integral component of Mansaf. Stopped by this place after seeing all the reviews. Felt a bit disappointed. When we came in, it was empty, but the wait for the food took maybe 25-30 mins long. The service was poor, we had to ask for water ourselves while waiting, and they brought out water bottles, not sure if that was an extra cost. Authentic and so good! So far everything I tried here really impressed me. The chicken is not dry and it's spicy and lemony. The lamb is WOW so tender and fresh tasting. They also have Vimto (Arab soda). The beef shawarma also so good. They have vegetarian options too! The eggplant stew is spicy and filling. 1st, let's get this straight for confused Yelpers: THIS USED TO BE ALOOSH. So read on. Found myself in Westminster and realized I really wanted food from Aloosh. Even though, for some reason, they stopped participating in my airline dining for miles program (bummer), the food was consistently awesome and the sole owner/chef was always happy and grateful for our patronage and it felt nice to support exactly his type of small business. When I arrived I noticed a few changes about the place and a couple of additional new faces including a silent, big old scary gray-bearded mullah dude who seemed to be either asleep, praying, or having a quiet seizure behind the counter. Checked my watch and it didn't seem to be any prayer time I knew of and the music was not prayerful, but slow Arabic pop, and he eventually moved. Like a lizard. [Had I been travelling in an appropriate country I would have thought nothing of this. But this was in Orange Mayonaise-on-Wonderbread County.] The multiple menus were a combination of the old menu and a new menu. After I placed my take away order I noticed the sign on the wall identifying this place as "Sawani House." Apparently new owners have taken over, but I was relieved to see the former owner still in he kitchen creating his magic. Not sure what the previous Yelp whine about lacking "authentic decor" was about. It's Westminster, Dude, and I doubt you've ever been outside of it. You go there for the FOOD and keep your interior decorating ideas to yo'self. As Aloosh, the beef shawarma wrap/sandwich was mind blowingly awesome, the lamb mandi was excellent, the humus was way above average, and the baba ghanoush probably the best I have ever eaten. I don't really know what the transition will be between the previous owner and the new ones will be. I just hope: 1) The previous owner stays in the kitchen and is happy doing his brilliant culinary thing; 2) The new owners don't raise prices to pay for their new expanded construction projects (e.g., new outdoor deck, etc.); 3) They make the vibe a lot less scary for people like my girlfriend and her friends to go in there alone; and 4) They rejoin the airline dining for miles program(s). I hate writing bad reviews but... When I pulled up I wasn't impressed by the premises. From outside it looked cluttered with a makeshift outdoor patio. I was already there so I walked in and wasn't greeted by anyone. A lady came from the kitchen and stared at me but didn't say a word. No smile. No words. I'm guessing she is the owner. She didn't say a word, just stared me up and down. I asked for a table for 1 and she showed me to a table then came back with a menu. I waited a good 10 minutes at least and she never returned to my table. Only 1 other table was in there. I got the vibe I wasn't welcome. Not sure why. I walked out the door and went somewhere I felt more welcome. I won't be back. Crazy how I have never heard of this place. This is a hole in the wall spot for me. I wished I had taken photos of the food because it was so delicious! We stopped by on a Friday afternoon to an empty parking lot. Walked in and was greeted by an older lady who seemed like she didn't speak much English. I can tell that she was most likely the owner and was the only person working. There was no one in the restaurant. She allowed us time to review the menu. You can tell she made everything from scratch, because it smelled sooooooo good! The meat was juicy and tender. The food had so much flavor in it! The hummus was amazing. The wrap had so much flavor in every bite and it was so crispy! The platter also comes with a side of pita brea, which was warm and soft! I am salivating as I am posting this. My wife and I came here for dinner before a show that was taking place at the Rose Theater in Westminster. The ambiance is very humble but the food was very good. My wife ordered the Kebab platter and I ordered Kashkool with a side of falafel. Everything was well prepared and delicious! My 3 coworkers and I went here to pick up some food at 10:30pm, everything was made fresh and extremely tasty. They had already cleaned the dining area up and we appreciated how good the service was. I don't think they cook anything here from scratch except the falafel maybe n rice?! Everything tasted like either from a can or premade and microwaved. My husband's chicken had hot spots and cold spots and I wish the prices are cheap for that poor quality but nope they charge a lot. Wow we could not have stumbled into a better place. We were driving down the freeway hungry and started looking on Yelp when this place popped on our radar so we took the exit and drove straight here to check it out. When we got here, there was a buffet set up, and it turns out that all of March is when they fast. We just happened to come in at sunset when they started the buffet. Not being familiar with the The culture we went ahead and ordered from the menu, but I can say the buffet looked outstanding. We ordered three kebabs that were recommended, and that was enough for two people plus the cheese samosas. The cheese samosas were incredible, and I suspect they make the cheese in the house. They were also kind enough to bring out a chicken and onion dish that was in a flatbread wrapped. We couldn't find it on the menu when we tried to look it up afterwards, but it was one of our favorite things we had. They also were kind enough to bring us some of the desserts they had made that were sitting on the buffet. They brought over.basbosa and baklava walnut. Both of the desserts were incredible.
