This was very good airport sushi! I was quite hungry after a handful of layovers and delays. I found myself here. It's located near gates 37/38 in the mini food court...about a 3-5 min walk. The sushi was very fresh! I had the classic box and enjoyed every bit of it. Wait time was reasonable as the sushi is made fresh. Customer service was wonderful. Imagine a Sugarfish concept at the airport, and you might come up with something pretty close to Yakumi. Is it as good as Sugarfish? No. But it's the best lunch you're likely to get at LAX. I had an empty stomach and time to kill before an afternoon flight to Hawaii, and I saw Yakumi in the nice food court in the Delta terminal (I also clocked the CAVA, which might come in handy one day). I looked up the Yelp reviews because I'm not stupid, and was encouraged by the 3.8 rating--basically S-tier by airport standards. I'd give it 4 stars outside of LAX, which comes out to 5 stars inside. There was no line, and while there were a couple people working behind the counter, I put in my order through the tablet that served as a register. It was quick and easy, and my number came up soon after I found a seat in the ample food court. I got the classic combination, which came with five pieces of nigiri, choice of two rolls, seaweed salad, edamame, soy sauce packets, and various sauces and condiments in individual plastic containers. The box was not as instructive as the Sugarfish box, which tells you what sauce to use with each type of sushi. I had to guess, and was somewhat confused by a sauce that seemed like mostly olive oil (I think I was correct to pair that with the albacore). The soy sauce and ponzu were easier to figure out, and there were wasabi and ginger in there, too. The nigiri were solid. There were two pieces of yellowtail with jalapeño and one each of salmon with sesame seeds, albacore with crispy onion, and shrimp with yuzu kosho. For my rolls, I went with the spicy tuna (four pieces) and the baked crab (two). The spicy tuna was great while the crab was just okay. It was sweet and otherwise kind of tasted like nothing. Both the edamame and seaweed salad were exactly as expected. If you're flying out of this terminal and need a bite to eat, I'd highly recommend Yakumi. I'll probably seek it out whenever I fly Delta. read more

Delightful! Ordering (kiosk) was easy, the menu was easily readable before you got to the kiosk. The food pick up took a while so don't order if you are in a rush. I was not in a rush. When I got my order everything came in a long flat box. It was so cute. The fish were yummy, the truffle ponzu it came with was delicious (very truffle heavy if you like that). The fish is fishy, not the freshest. If you get their rolls, it's drowning in sauce and you can't even taste anything else besides that. The portion is VERY small. Don't recommend. Next door CAVA has much better options. read more

I would say convenience and service at the airport is good to great but price to value was lacking. The quality of the food was sub par in my opinion with the rice very unacceptably mushy. While I considered coming back to get a new batch, I thought it might take too long. My feedback is to please not have rice mushy the next time. read more

I noticed I was the only person who was not acknowledged or even spoke to when I sat at the bar. This was around 6:30 PM ish. It was until I asked an employee who was distributing food orders, if the bar served alcohol that I found out the bar was closed. However, there was a Caucasian male eating food at the same bar. Whether I was inquiring about drinks or food items, the benign neglect was disrespectful. Two employees looked at me as if I was lost. This is some of the best sushi I've ever had. Might be better than Nobu!!!! Not kidding. Especially the sushi pieces. The rolls were really good but the sushi pieces were insane. Melt in your mouth. Tried to get a quick roll before my flight. Told them I had 20 mins they said no problem. I waited 20 asked- they said I was next- I wait another 5 and say can I get a refund I'm going to miss my flight- no we don't know how to do that- just 2 more mins (it's been 30 since I've ordered) then they say no sorry we don't have a ticket for you I give them my receipt- sorry we can't make it we don't have a ticket! 21 dollars came with a 4 piece yellowtail roll, three pieces sashimi, edamame and miso soup. Also had an assortment of dipping sauces; soy sauce, ponzu, and truffle soy. Had a little thing about which sushi goes with each sauce. The salmon sashimi was paired with the truffle soy and I was nervous, but not bad! As far as airport food goes this is a big win! It tastes fresh and like sushi you could get in a restaurant. The sides were great too (get the cucumber salad! If you are even somewhat considering Yakumi over the other options, trust me and pick here!!! I have never had airport food of such quality, we were actually shocked. If you are starving from a day of travel it may end up being pretty pricey to get a filling meal, but the tastes were absolutely worth needing to nibble on some chips later. DON'T BE AFRAID! I was VERY hesitant to try "airport" sushi, but so glad I did. Pretty quick service, despite being crowded, but the real value here was the amount of food and the very high quality. My combo included 5 pcs of Nigiri sushi (very fresh), cucumber salad, two rolls (4 pcs each) and edamame; and it all rocked.
