It is located together with Artsy Cafe (continental food) and Komedor (Filipino food). It has the same owner as this restaurant and the one along Banawe. The interiors of Mandarin Sky Wok is very Chinese, like the fine dining ones in China. It is very cozy and filled with customers. Service is good. Food was quite disappointing considering all the raves I heard about the Banawe branch. We started off with dimsum because we were famished: pork siomai, fish head, and beancurd roll. Fish head was okay since not many restaurants serve those as dimsum. The pork siomai was bad, it has more flour than meat. The beancurd roll was truly disappointing. It's like the meat of the siomai then wrapped in bean curd skin. For the main course, we ordered: Polonchay with Two Eggs, Singaporean Bihon Guisado, and Dong Po Pork. The polonchay with eggs were okay, nothing special. The eggs visible are duck eggs and century eggs, plus a slurry of chicken egg whites. I was disappointed that the yolk of the duck egg was invisible, probably used to complete their salted egg prawns dish. The bihon was flavored in curry. It was good but we just got surprised that it has curry in it. The Dong Po Pork comes with steamed buns. It took a really long time for them to serve this, and it turned out just normal. There were about 8-10 pre-cut slices of the pork but only 6 pcs of the bun. The meat was tender and the sauce was strange. Not a usual sauce in Chinese cuisine, but I'm guessing the sauce is made from ketchup, sugar, soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, and vinegar - almost the same ingredients as a sweet and sour sauce. The pineapple on top of the dish was a misplacement as well. Most customers there ordered shabu-shabu so maybe it's their forte? Would love to try the two restaurants beside it though. Selections were small and ok. I think the only thing I really liked here is the meat, tofu soup, and japchae but I heard the price is very cheap for this buffet. They do still have the traditional peanut sauce, and peanut oil with salt n pepper for your meats. They do offer alcohol and sodas. The place was small and only had a few parking places in front. Was crowded so this means it's popular with the locals. You can make reservations. There AC is blasting so if you sit by the AC, the burners will blow out like us. Once you are seated, they give you wooden trays of meat: a mix of pork and beef trays. Thinly sliced, ready to crisp on the grill! They will continue serving the trays until you tell them to stop! Honestly, don't stop until I've had a total of 10 trays! This is an awesome dining experience for only Php299. Drinks are not included but you can order a Liter of regular coke. The Thai restaurants that I've been to which are in Makati are all pretty pricey, so having one so close to home at wallet-friendly prices makes Sen Lek a little restaurant that I will probably be frequenting in the weeks and months to come. I ordered take out from there not too long ago, and I was asked if I wanted my food mild or strong. I don't care for extra spicy food as I get hyperacidic after eating them. The mild food of Sen Lek is still a little bit spicy, but tolerably so. Since there's a Thai massage place a stone's throw from this restaurant, I am wondering if there's a Thai community somewhere here. I don't mind. Don Day served many vegetables for their bibimbap and I made sure I took a portion from each of them. I tailor-made the sauce to not only be spicy but also slightly garlicky and with lots of sesame oil. I also made it a point to put in more vegetables than rice. That's the advantage of getting to mix your own bowl. You can make it suit your taste. There were other delicious dishes. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with their names so allow me to stop here. The quality of food throughout Sambo Kojin's are quite consistent. What I really go to this branch for is the quality of service. I've always been asked if it's my first time when visiting. The waiters always take care to assist with sauces, offer to bring different dishes to the table, and be quick with the drink refills. Coming from a hospitality education, I really appreciate the decisions management has made to craft the experience while making smart financial decisions. Here are a few I'd like to highlight: Uni is available, but never after it's started to taste a little toooo fishy, and they keep it behind the bar so that it doesn't waste. The soy sauce isn't sitting on the table. Less waste. But, it's always readily available by the sushi with ample wasabe. The waiters offer to bring the tempura, soup, kamemeshi rice to your table. It saves the hassle of waiting for in-demand items at the same time "filling-up" hungry eaters with cost-friendly fare. For most people, buffets are as good as their value for money. I always leave Sambo Kojin feeling like my money was well spent.
