Better than most I've had while here so I'll give it a 4.

With the closing of mainstay Gourmet's Palate (which has subsequently reopened), the market became wide-open for such places to compete with those that have been 24/7 since the start, including the two branches of Sinangag Express. Soon after Gourmet's Palate closed its doors, Dusadee Thai began operating at all hours, adding much-welcome variety to the late-night-to-early-morning food scene in BF. As the name suggests, the place serves Thai food exclusively. Good Thai food, to be exact. The Pad Thai and spring rolls are excellent, and the different curries are quite tasty too. This doesn't come as a huge surprise, as the owner is actually a Thailand native. The meals are priced fairly, especially given the portion size and level of taste. The place is quite small, so you may have to wait a bit if there are no seats available. You can also get your meals delivered if you live in the area. You can choose to light up if you get one of the outdoor seats, although I recommend taking a few steps away to the parking lot instead.

Silom Thai - This is the only Thai restaurant that I know of in the Bicutan area

The Bicutan/Better Living area is sorely deprived of great food, more so great Thai food. As a…read moreresident of this neighborhood, naturally I hold very little expectations for food places here --great food just does not pop out from this area. Silom Thai, being located in SM Bicutan, a place that doesn't really have anything fascinating food-wise, was a place that made my eyes light up when it opened. As a vegan, I go straight to the vegetable dishes. And, as expected with Thai cuisine, there are some good veggie selections! For appetizers, the Fresh Vegetarian Spring Rolls are delicious and quite filling on their own. They also have some salads suitable for vegans. You can also have a Vegetarian Noodle Soup (you can pick the kind of noodles you want! Awesome) which is a pretty huge serving. When I'm here, a staple for me is their Vegetable & Tofu Curry (which 2 people can share) and paired with white rice--it's perfect! You can have it made extra spicy as well. For desserts, I was really delighted by their Water Chestnuts in Iced Coco Milk. Their Mango Sticky Rice also does not disappoint! Now for beverages: I always stick to a refreshing glass of their Lemongrass Iced Tea. Actually, I love this place so much that I can say that Silom Thai for me is the best place to have a meal in the whole area of Betterliving neighborhood. Great value for money, too!

We scanned the menu as soon as we sat down, and believe when I say the wait seemed an eternity. Good thing we ordered the catfish and mango salad as an appetizer. It was light, all the components blended so well, and it was devoured within minutes. A promising start to what proved to be a great lunch. The serving of curry we ordered was so big we had to take a third of it home. Pairing its savory richness with a mountain of bagoong rice ensured that I was happily stuffed after the meal. Best bagoong rice ever! I unfortunately haven't been back in a long time, which feels criminal. I'm so deprived of good Thai food, and this is my number one spot to find it. I need to return soon!

It's served with a small slice of lime, though as a matter of preference my boyfriend and I did ask for more. It just gives the noodles that extra shot of citrus that livens everything up and ties everything together. Even the nutty taste doesn't sit heavily in the stomach like other pad thais do. We also ordered the beef satay, which is rich, savory, and moist the way most other satays aren't. A lot of moisture is lost in the grill or pan, especially when the pieces of meat are small, but somehow, Sen Lek manages to keep its satay succulent. Their mango sticky rice is my favorite menu item though. I'm one of those people for whom dessert is chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate, but this dish was an exception. It's nothing fancy, but it's well-made, and the textures of the fruit, rice, and cream all come together in a gorgeous harmony of sweetness. Prices are also more than fair. For less than five hundred pesos, two people can share a meal and feel satisfied and happy after.

All of the dishes I've tried in Sen Lek are really good. My favorites are their green chicken curry rice meal, Thai siomai, and pad thai. (Everything Thai!) The bagoong rice is also a crowd favorite, as well as their noodles. It's also my favorite place to grab some Thai iced tea. The best part of all is how affordable it all is! Most of the items on the menu are within the P120-150 range, with a few exceptions. I went there with a group of 4 voracious and hungry friends, and after each ordering a dish (or two) to our heart's desire, plus drinks, our total bill amounted to more or less P1,000. Pretty good for the amount of food we ordered - we went home too full to grab night caps!

We started with the pomelo salad--bright, zesty, perfectly balanced with just the right kick--and then dove into the grilled pork skewers, which were smoky, tender, and gone in seconds. The star for me was the steamed sea bass with chili-lime sauce; the fish was so fresh it practically melted, and that sauce had me spooning it over everything. Even the pad see ew was a step above what I've had elsewhere--chewy noodles, great wok hei, not too sweet. Portions felt generous for the quality, and nothing was overly oily or heavy. Service was flawless. Our server remembered who ordered what without writing anything down and kept the water and tea flowing without us ever asking. They even brought out a little complimentary mango sticky rice at the end because it was one of our birthdays--such a thoughtful touch. Hands down one of the best Thai meals I've had in Manila. Worth every peso and I'll be back next time I'm in town. 5 stars all the way.
