The apartment we stayed in was called the Louisa Frank suite. The mansion has 3 apartments in it. I picked Louisa because I liked the 50s vibe it had. The place is a little worn (like the mattresses and some furnishings), but we still loved it. We had dinner reservations in the catacombs. The waiter seemed kind of lost and unsure of himself, and the food is pretty average, but it's still worth going to see. Set your expectations reasonably regarding food quality and lodging, but go for the experience because it's unlike anything else you'll ever do.

Ended up ordering nachoes for appetizer plus basic lunch fare and the order still took 45 minutes to come out and it was cold. We also felt that the kids menu prices were pretty steep. Beers were fine and the food was fine, but did not feel for the wait anything was really fabulous. If it wasn't for the fact that this location is on the 2025 Ale Trail, we would not recommend.

I placed a reservation request in the morning, and they called me in the early afternoon to let me know there was availability, which was great. I appreciated the variety of 15 wines from which you could sample to create your tasting. My picks consisted of: -2020 Sauvignon Blanc -2020 Fusion (white) -2020 Cellar 1599 Riesling: Cellar 1599 is a Waltz label, for reference. -2018 Cellar 1599 Red Blend -2017 Baron Red I won't go into detail on my experiences with each wine, but I did have a glass (and then buy a bottle) of the Riesling. The tastings come in little tasting tubes that are basically test tubes. While some might find that unusual, I'm a science person, so I liked it! They also have a cheese board (choose one of four cheeses) with chocolate and crackers, which I added. The tasting room staff were friendly and accessible. It was a beautiful day and lots of families were out on the large lawn. Too bad there isn't a restaurant here, or it would be even more of a win. In any case, Waltz is a winner!
