They stated that they had to go out of town and I would get the bid when they returned. So I received the bid 7 days after my appointment and 5 days after all the other bids. The price of the concrete was a fair price but I decided to go with another company because of the time frame I needed. Perhaps next project I can use this company.

MD Construction

Will never use MD Construction and certainly wouldn't recommend…read more I paid extra to have 6" 4000 PSI concrete poured for my drive instead of standard 4" 3000 PSI concrete, which should have been overkill, but I didn't want to have to worry about the driveway again. One thing I noticed immediately is that they brushed leaves into the top of the drive, while cement was wet, instead of removing the leaves. Subsequently, there are leaf imprints all over the new driveway (see photo of one of the many imprints). The color consistency is also bad and there is one ~3' x 2' patch up by the garage that's a completely different shade than the rest of the driveway. What really infuriates me, though, is that they didn't order enough concrete and had to get bagged cement from Home Depot to finish the job. Within three to four weeks a crack formed in the area where they mixed bagged concrete with concrete from the cement truck. When I contacted the owner about the crack, he tried to convince me it was normal. Like I'm an idiot who would believe that a brand new 6" 4000 PSI concrete drive should have cracks in it. A quick Google search will tell you that mixing sacked concrete with ready-mix concrete that comes in a cement truck will definitely cause problems. Either the owner knew this and didn't care, or he just doesn't know what he's doing. One thing I do know about concrete is that when water gets in a crack during the winter then freezes, the crack will only get bigger. Regardless, who wants a 3' long crack in their driveway? Especially right at the front of a brand new driveway, which is the first thing anyone sees when they pull up to your house. Once the owner gets your money, don't count on much if you have problems. The owner kept putting off fixing the crack by telling me how busy he is, but after contacting him several times, he finally sent someone out. The "fix" made the drive look worse and the crack is still there. Three months later and I'm still trying to get him to fix the problem. He basically told me he's doing me a favor by fixing his shoddy workmanship. How this company has so many 5 star reviews is beyond me. Unfortunately, I've discovered that positive reviews can't be trusted anymore, especially when a company has nothing but 5 star reviews. I'm not suggesting the 5 star reviews are paid for fake reviews, but I will strongly suggest that you pay attention to my review and any other reviews from people who had horrible experiences.

Prior to posting my original 3-star review, I had already made multiple attempts to rectify this issue directly. For context, my baseline purchase was $4,000, and we had planned to spend an additional $5,000 (totaling $9,000) to add 15 Myrtle trees once the fencing was completed. Thankfully, we now know to take our business elsewhere. Before I posted the 3-star review, I was told by Austin that the manager, Bret, would be reaching out to me. That never happened--so I went ahead and posted the review. Only after that, on Monday, 5/20, did Bret finally text me and schedule a call for Tuesday, 5/21. He never called. I had to reach out at the end of the day and was met with the same excuse I had heard before: "We got so busy." That excuse was also given the last time I communicated to ask why no one had contacted me in the first place. In my text response, I clearly said I had given them every opportunity to make things right, but it was evident this wasn't going to happen. At that point, I requested a refund for the items that were ordered but not yet delivered. Bret finally agreed to issue the refund via text on 5/21--but as of today, 5/25, I have yet to receive it. In the meantime, I've sourced replacement roses from another nursery. I originally asked Moon Valley to retrieve the incorrectly colored roses that were planted despite my specific communication. I've received no response or direction on that matter, so I'll be relocating them to the wooded area behind my home. I want to reiterate that Austin and the planting crew did a good job with what they were tasked to do. Unfortunately, management's lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic follow-through has turned what could have been a positive, long-term relationship into a frustrating and disappointing ordeal. As of today, still no refund. Side note - Austin you need to open your own business. You will ruin your credibility with this company. Original Review Here's why I'm giving 3 stars instead of 5: Austin, the salesperson, is the reason I committed to this company. He selected the best plants for my yard, provided thoughtful advice, and offered excellent service--he absolutely deserves 5 stars. The planting team also did a great job with the three trees, 21 shrubs, 3 roses, and 1 potted Calamondin tree, so I would give them 4 stars for their execution. I'm deducting one star for the crew accidentally hitting the AT&T line during planting. While it caused inconvenience, I understand it had rained the days before and the orange marking was likely faint--so I can be fair about that. The biggest disappointment--and the reason this is a 3-star review--is with Moon Valley's inventory, planning, and poor communication. I was never notified that the full order wouldn't be delivered on May 13, and I only found out from the planters on-site. The roses that did arrive were the small size (I ordered big at $65 a piece and look big when I saw in store - see photo on what I got planted - is that big to you?) and wrong color (pink instead of white). What made this worse is that the rescheduled planting for the missing items was pushed out nearly a month, with no effort to prioritize us on schedule to rectify their inventory issue--despite it being due to their own poor planning. Great sales experience and solid planting work, but the lack of communication and accountability from the rest of the company really took away from what should have been a smooth process.

I came home from work after the install and found a lot of the plants were basically dead(see photos). I called Abby that day to complain and she insinuated I had not watered them. It hadn't even been 6 hours. She said she would bring replacements and never showed up after several weeks. I had put down some gutter catches the day before the install and she didn't even bother moving them. She just threw mulch around them and in them(see pictures). She did no work to level or prepare the area. All they did was throw down cardboard and put up metal 4 inch green boarder, didn't even do that well(see pictures), she threw 1 inch of mulch on top. Not even a week went by and grass was growing on the edges and where the seams of the card board were placed. You could see card board around the edges. I complained and She told me to go buy landscaping vinegar to kill the grass. I had planted two redbuds in the bed area months before we had this done , she did not even bother weed around them, It took me two minutes to do. All they did was throw mulch around them like every thing else. I wanted a professional job but ended up with a very amateur job that I could have done myself for 1/4 the price. Her markup is ridiculous. She tried to overcharged me for the 4 inch green boarder and mulch. $1100 for 3 yards of mulch and eleven 4 inch x 8 foot border strips which sell for $24 pieces. Mulch cost $90 for 3 yards and 11 strips of metal boarder is $264. Do the math. She prices her job for perfection but did not deliver. She adjusted the price but it was still a 2.375 times markup. 20% is typical not 237.5%. She also did not bring all the plants. She said they did not have bee balm. Her solution was to offer me seeds. I did not pay for seeds. I found live plants on Amazon. I had them in two days and they looked better than what she planted. Also, she did not check the lighting of the area. the main area in front of the porch is shaded all day . Most of the plants did not do well in shade. Find another company! I now have to fix all her mistakes.

There is now one board up, my fridge & Grill & furniture are inside, my gas line was left uncapped, & I had to stop payment on $4K w/ my banker (they since returned my check for shredding) & lug their crow bar & large paint bucket w/ equipment in it down to the curbside for them. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THEM. Completely unprofessional. I have wasted an entire day & have to find someone to get this mess sorted.

I was really impressed that she took the time to call and explain. I've upgraded the review to 3 stars as a result. ******************************** Early in 2015 I purchased a lot for the purpose of building a house; the lot was part of a plat that was shared with another lot. When the original surveyor created and recorded the plat 8 years ago, he made a scrivener's error. This error was discovered by the City of Houston in 2015 while I was trying to get permits to build my house. The City required that we have that error corrected before we could move forward with the build. The survey company that did the plat was no longer in business but I was able to find the actual surveyor who created the plat and he happened to be employed by AGS Consultants. I was quite relieved to find him and reached out to him. I knew that I would have to pay for this service and NEVER expected it to be free. For one thing it was 8 years ago and the original company was no longer in business. When Dan submitted the proposal to amend this plat I was shocked. AGS wanted to charge me $8000 to amend it. They wanted to charge me to do a whole new plat and and an amended plat. The original plat was only $4000. I was absolutely stunned. There was no apology from Dan for having made the error in the first place. When I considered this situation, it seemed to me that one of the 3 scenarios was at play. 1) They didn't want to be bothered with this and hoped the sticker shock would discourage me and I would go find someone else to take care of this problem. 2) They had no idea how to amend a plat and honestly believed they had to go through all these unnecessary steps. 3) They saw how desperate I was to get this problem resolved and perceived an opportunity to make a buck off me. I did find a fabulous survey company that took care of this problem for me for 1/3 the cost; that included their going to the different lien holders to gather signatures. They were amazing. I have been in Real Estate for 10 years and I can tell you that having a good survey is extremely important. If you are looking for a good survey company these are not the guys to call; instead call a title company and see who they use. If a title company keeps a surveyor in their rolodex, there's a good reason for it.

When I questioned him, he told me the roof would "likely start to leak now," then handed me a business card for his personal business and offered to sell me a new roof. Their ladders also caused additional damage to the roof. There were also sections of fascia that were supposed to be replaced under the contract but were never touched. When I brought this up, Jon said he could finish the job only if I hired him privately to redo the siding on my entire house, claiming he would "significantly undercut" Houston Siding. When I contacted Houston Siding to report the issues and the incomplete work, I was told they couldn't help me and that I needed to handle it directly with Jon. It has now been two months since the job was "completed," and I am still discovering new problems. For example, the soffits were installed directly over the old ones, blocking the soffit vents. I had seen similar reviews before hiring them and hoped my experience would be different because Will was very pleasant during the sales process. Unfortunately, I've regretted starting this project since the first day of work.
