I went back a year after my initial review, and it was still aces. in addition to the cauliflower, they had a wonderful dish with chopped meat and spicy oil in hummus, and the eggplant dish was so creamy and smoky. The hummus by itself is a little sharp, and their curried pickles are not wonderful. Standout drink was a cocktail with arak and grapefruit. Still a reliably good restaurant in the area (temporarily in Mitte by Amano). Unfairly underrated here. Although it was crowded and shortstaffed, the wait staff were super attentive and very kind and the food came surprisingly quickly. Their drink selection was small, but the quality of their simple cocktails such as a Mojito or Moscow Mule was very high. I don't recommend their Tel Aviv plate, which was inelegant and had too much curry, but their hummus was simply wonderful, and I've been all over the region. The stand out was the cauliflower, which was simultaneously roasted yet buttery, and it came with a tahini sauce which was also better than most I've had in Israel, Turkey, and LA. This newish israeli place is my new go to place when being in Mitte. It serves a great variety of food such as Hummus, roasted Cauliflower and many more. I mean - who wouldnt wanna try out a "Brokkoli Steak" ? :) Next to the food they also serve a good selection of booze and beer and wine. Bayreuther Beer even, If anyone wants to know ;) Its not that cheap but for being all homemade and "mitte" its absolutely fine. We will come again just next week! See you there! read more

The best food I've had in Berlin. HANDS DOWN! The portions are meant for sharing, and I shared between one other person. I ordered the pulled lamb and humus & the cauliflower with humus. I 10/10 recommend. They gave so much lamb, they weren't stingy at all. The cauliflower was crisp and flavorful. The ambiance inside is nice for date night or a friend get together, and I also saw a well-behaved child enjoying as well. Again, best food in Berlin. read more

hmm ... I heard a lot of good things, but it did not really deliver. The service was okay, typical hipster attitude and not very welcoming and professional, but ok. The cauliflower was good, but the sauce made it great. The humus was ok, but also nothing special. The portions were rather small. We ordered four dishes for three people, but left hungry. I am living around around the corner and and love usually food from israel. Food: Good things first : the portobello salad is tasty (when coming warm and not cold) . i like the baked cauliflower . Hummus is ok too. The watermelon salad is a joke, literally a slice of watermelon and some crumbled whitecheese. The green salad was just a lot of coriander , to soapy and not balanced taste. All in all its a menu which doesnt need necessary a cook... Service: some rough israel hipster punks ,(reminds me to the rough waiters in due forni) I personally dont give much to artificial friendly people, so its ok for me, but not for all of my friends. Was just on - flavors could be worked on a bit, menu is also not very diverse. Aracboy cocktail was very hard on the Arac -- usually it's not drunk that strongly so it was a bit unpleasant. Service was good, as well as decor. read more

I was super excited to check out Yafo since I Team hummus and a huge fan of Israeli cuisine but I left a little bit disappointed. Outdoor seating is pretty uncomfortable. Small tables, uncomfy chairs and there's little space between the tables, you barely have space to put your bag on the floor. My mum had the beetroot salad with Gorgonzola and walnuts which was pretty good but the portion was tiny for the price. We only also got maybe one pita for the both of us.. Went for the Yafo everything plate and expected delicious hummus but what I got served tasted nothing like hummus (and I've been to Israel and had the real deal) but more like mashed potatoes. If that wasn't disappointing enough I found a piece of paper in the hummus, probably from some food label. When I told the waiter he asked to bring me another plate but I was already full but he promised us dessert on the house. And let me tell you....YOU NEED TO TRY IT! The desert was definitely the best part of our meal, Mousse au chocolat with cream and halva. So good! And the portion was pretty big! So all in all, if you come, come for the mousse auch chocolat and get you hummus somewhere else. Service was kind of strange, after I told the waiter about the paper in my food and we were finished eating he went by several times and did not take away our plates even though we were clearly done eating...anyways, three stars because the beetroot salad and the dessert were tasty! read more

Average food and very costly. We tried Yafo Uber alles and found hummus of average quality and quite costly as compared to other hummus restaurants in Berlin. Oh my God, what a bad place. Like others say here, it's totally not organized. We ordered a place for four but got places on the... Bar? How can four ppl talk on the bar? Or see each other? They totally disorganized, the service was the most unprofessional I've probably ever seen. The food was not amazing to say the least, any hummus of sababa, Zula, Djimalaya, Shiloh is much better. It lacked olive oil, doesn't come with tahini unless you add another 1.50€ to the already overpriced 7.50€. You get only two small pitas and each additional one costs another 1€. And is just not tasty!... And it still took long time you arrive, as if it's not already ready. They charge you 4.50€ (!!!) for half a liter of bottled beer, which is an absurd. These Israelis just give bad reputation to their home country. In the bill they had mistakes. Check it check it check it. They charged us twice for something we had only once and an IPA beer (a can, we actually got a can, even without a glass) which was 5€ on the menu was 5.50€ on the computer. And it took her twenty minutes to fix both problems and tell 'ok, so don't pay for it' (really?! We didn't have it). it's admirable how so quickly since their opening they managed to get the place so full, the atmosphere is more of a pick up bar with food. I thought about if to give two stars just because of it, but no. This place should be avoided and closed asap. Rude, bad, greedy. read more

Unfortunately I have to agree with the reviewer below who talks about how this place has really changed in the past year or so. Portions have gotten smaller, the menu has changed a bit, but the prices are the same. The first few times I went, the food was delicious and plentiful. Now, the same salads and dishes are smaller, no longer on the menu, or just not as high quality. I've always found the waitstaff to be entertaining and friendly, but the changes to the menu are significant. I also agree that the hummus isn't great--this may just be hummus in Berlin--there's something a bit nutty about it, and it's not like the smooth, tasty hummus you get in Israel. I hope Yafo goes back to the old menu items and portions; it could be a great restaurant again. read more

Pessah Meal for ridiculous 38 € (excluding drinks) was rather a fast than a feast. The portions for salads/ soup/ main dish/ dessert were all tiny and we first believed the salads (in bowls like soy sauce bowls in Japanese rest.) were all for one person, but had to be divided by four. Asking for more was not welcomed. BTW mazza balls are anything but nouvelle cuisine. They also only served small pieces of mazza and pita (!). After asking for more mazza several times, we ended up with maybe maximum 2 full slices of mazza for four people for the entire evening. Waited for the drink forever, the service was too cool for school unfriendly (maybe only our waitress) and finally I had to leave hungry. 3f&cking8 € without drinks in Berlin? You can get several main dishes of excellent quality for that money. I have never ever anywhere experienced a rip off like that, especially not in Israel where big portions are a must. read more
