Sunday, May 17, 2015. Eric and I arrived Saturday, half an…read morehour before check in, but we just couldn't stall at the pub any longer. After a whirlwind trip from Burnaby to Kamloops to Revelstoke to Naramata via the old Westside Road (highly recommended, but that's another story), we were excited to lay down roots for a couple of days in a B&B we found on an Internet search. A slow drive up the winding mountain road towards Chute Lake led us to the closest place to Heaven we have ever been. We were greeted at the door by Maya, her smile welcoming and her eyes aglow. A beautiful welcome! She gave us a tour, explained that we simply had to ask if we needed anything, and encouraging us to take all that is offered in their beautiful home. After being on the road for 7 hours, we had stopped to get supplies for a picnic supper with a stop to Poplar grove for the triple cream Camembert. It went perfectly with the Cottonwood Estate wine chilling in the fridge for us. We enjoyed our meal on our balcony overlooking Okanagan Lake, with views from the mountains through Penticton with Skaha Lake beyond over to Summerland. We stayed in the Garden Suite. A huge canopied king size bed that was perfect - covered in lush sheets, a fireplace that could be ambience or heat, a fridge to keep the wine cold and a deep soaker tub, two wingback chairs and a patio with the most amazing views blew us away when we entered. I met Ben as he was playing with their darling daughter in the garden. He was just as friendly and welcoming as his lovely wife. We enjoyed a glass of wine on the andorondak chairs overlooking the lake and life was good. We woke the next morning and received our breakfast at the requested time. A delicious rolled cheese and spinach omelet, perfectly cooked butcher bacon, a half mango and Pain du Chocoat for me and a croissant for Eric as he has a special diet, coffee and OJ. We headed out to do the wineries, but decided to get in some supplies and sit on the andorondak chairs and watch the lake instead. (we did hit our favorite wineries on way the way back though, as well as Upper Bench for more great cheese (Grey Baby) We enjoyed the afternoon and evening, another picnic supper and some fine Bench wines. We saw quail, mountain goats and a lot of deer poop, but alas, no deer. We wandered the pathways, took a ton of pictures, and found the ONLY place we will stay in Naramata from now on. I can't wait to see what breakfast brings tomorrow. It will be hard to say goodbye, but I will highly recommend this to everyone I know.

A cute place to stay with some quirks. This B&B is located in Summerland on switchback road closer…read moreto the lake than the town. The B&B is on a small farm that has some fruit trees, chickens, and sheep. The setting is very pretty and the grounds are large and great for exploring. The B&B has 2 rooms. The first floor room is handicapped accessible and spacious. We stayed in the first floor and a family member stayed on the second floor. We stayed here for 9 days so we feel like we got the full experience. Both rooms have private bathrooms and queen sized beds. The rooms had TVs, AC, wifi, sitting areas, etc.... The room downstairs has a water dispenser and the one upstairs has a fridge. The rooms are updated and feel fresh and new. I have no complaints about the rooms at all. Our daily breakfast was very good and the owners will ask you what you want and can adjust accordingly. They definitely don't skimp and the food is plentiful! We had breakfast on the front porch daily. The husband does hover during breakfast. There's space for two cars (or more) so parking isn't an issue. The area is very quiet as it is a farm. On several days we saw a mother deer and her two babies walking through the fruit trees. 3 stars is A-Ok as Yelp says, but here is my reasoning for not giving a 4 star rating: When we arrived and several other times we were there, the husband wanders around with no shirt. I know it's a farm, but to be greeted in the afternoon by him sitting on the couch with no shirt is odd. Also, we felt as if our rooms were the only area we could easily go without intruding. There was a living room, but it felt like the hosts' space and not welcome to guests. When you go upstairs, you have to walk through the hosts' study/computer area. Also, the Wifi is there, but really difficult to get in the downstairs room. When sitting on the porch (as I didn't feel welcome in the living room), comments were made by the hosts about our phone/internet usage; in a judging way that we were too connected via phones/internet, etc... I've stayed at several other B&Bs in other cities and I've always felt welcome in the common areas. This B&B felt very much like I was renting a room but needed to stay in that space. I would stay here again but it wouldn't be my first choice. My family member who stayed in the other room felt the exact same way. The room itself is great, comfortable, and a good price. It's just a weird experience.
