We really enjoyed our stay here. There were 13 of us ! The amenities (disco, roller skates, ping pong lounge, pool, outdoor patio and bbq) helped make the stay more enjoyable! The staff were very friendly and helpful too. Parking was limited but it was free and accessible on street level. Not to mention the funky retro hotel feeling, makes us want to visit Hotel Zed again. The sofa pullout beds were not that great but the beds were comfortable The sound proofing could be better and it didn't help that the club next door did not close until 1 or 2am Overall the stay was awesome, like their coffee, and the location was fantastic!

This is a remodelled hotel/motel complex which has the most comfortable King sized bed I've ever slept in. Quite the achievement for a hotel bed with funky retro colours and some furniture on both the outside and inside the rooms. Clean and a community feel with the rooftop patio and 2 other patios on the 2nd floor, ping pong room, games area for kids of all ages in the lobby area. Coffee available 24x7, no tea yet but they say it's coming. This hotel is right across from the city Park and Lake waterfront and fairly close to the downtown and action for restaurants, bars, and nightclubs but it's not loud here at night. This was our first stay and not our last as we just like the feel of the hotel and the staff was very friendly.

Incredible experience! Very nostalgic feel to the whole place with some wicked amenities. Loved the retro vibes the place had. Friendly staff, clean rooms and everything was walking distance from the hotel. A must stay in Kelowna.

Awesome vibe at this Kelowna nook!

This place is all about tremendous value for the money. I booked Hotel Zed for a 3 night stay since I would be in town for a fitness competition. Initially I had just booked 2 nights through Expedia. We then decided to come a day early, which my husband booked directly. We wrote an email to connect the dots for them so they wouldn't make us check out and check back in. Even the tone of their email response made us know we were in good hands. The overall decor is an Instagrammers paradise and the place is full of random perks. A ping pong lounge, rooftop patio, roller skates, free bikes and my fave free coffee in the lobby. Yes some hotels have it in your room, but you've paid peanuts to stay across from a stunning lake in the heart of downtown. Somethings gotta give. Plus the front desk staff are so nice why wouldn't you want to greet them hello in the AM. The rooms are quaint in size compared to most hotels, but efficient. The place is very very clean. So why 4 stars and not 5. Hardly the fault of the place and I do feel safe, but if you venture around the corner in the wrong direction the area turns seedy in a hurry. Luckily there are many amazing walks available for my doggie in all the other directions. Yep- pet friendly so your pooch can enjoy the fab vibe with you! Just make sure to tell them in advance if you're four legged family member is joining the fun.

The resort was nice, pet friendly which was a must for us traveling with our little pup. Beautiful location - waterfront. We had room service just to take advantage to the perks also there was nothing really around. Although it was beautiful location not much around for food options. Room service was good. Room was clean, bed comfy, bathroom was small and sink was outside the bathroom. Check in and check out was easy. Several days later I saw on my credit card that I was charged the whole amount of our stay, which I had already paid through Expedia. I should have only been charged the pet fee & room service. Contacting the hotel was a bit of a hassle. Eventually got my refund. I can imagine this place being really nice and busy in the summer.

My husband enjoyed the hot tub (limit of 2 people) and a swim in the pool yesterday before we went for dinner. There is no housekeeping service because of covid but you can request any top up of supplies you may require. The room is very clean and well sanitized. The beds are comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. Friends of ours are staying at the Grand Okanagan and they are very disappointed as none of the facilities are open and very little staff available so they have a room with no glasses, no chairs to sit on and a phone that does not work. They've had to request the most basic of supplies on numerous occasions. The staff here are very friendly and accommodating. There is a nice boardwalk out on the lake and it is a short stroll along the water to their sister property - Eldorado Resort. Finding parking on their lot can be challenging.

This means that there is no front desk, just an office where you conduct your business transactions. My family stayed here on a trip to Kelowna. On the day our flight arrived, we decided to spend the rest of the afternoon in Vernon, BC and didn't get to check in until 11 p.m. The lady in the office waited for us, even though the office is usually closed by that time. She gave us a quick tour and then proceeded to give us our keys. Our suite was beautiful! We got a two bedroom suite, with two bathrooms. It also had a full kitchen, a dining counter and a living area. Our deck had a table, chairs and a grill. Even though it wasn't a hotel, they still provided us with towels and toiletries! Also, we had free WiFi. The pool, hot tub and gym are open until 10 pm, after which, guests will be told by the night guard to call it a night. So we had no obnoxious neighbors disturbing our R&R. It's 10 minutes away from downtown and 5 minutes away from the pharmacy, grocery store, restaurants and some shops. There is a restaurant downstairs called the Cabana Grill, a coffee shop and a spa. If ever I do venture out to Kelowna again, I will be staying at the Playa del Sol again. In fact, I recommended this place to a coworker who is doing the Iron Man triathlon this coming summer. Love it!!!

My review has two parts. One on the hotel itself , the second, on how staff handled themselves…read moreduring a confrontation about cost. The hotel is old. Website photos definitely paint a cheerier, more welcoming portrait than it is. The resident smokers have their place under cover, very close to room doors and windows and their smoke wafts into the rooms. We were just there, being the end of the high season, and I suspect they had a pretty busy summer. The rooms seem tired and are not in the best of condition. We found broken floor boards, burnt out lights in the bathroom and kitchen (in our friends' bedroom) and furniture in disrepair. We also found a BMW key fob (which I find strange) just under the bed so the housekeeping isn't the best. However, it has a full kitchen (however awkward the set up) though we only used the fridge, suite rooms, little patios, a pool and off-street parking. And the area (aside from the neighbouring empty lot) was close to stores and restaurants. We weren't in our rooms much, so they were sufficient for our needs. Service and staff on the other hand. . . this hotel does not have an online booking/reservation system and are not at all diligent at responding to emails. I think they prefer telephone communication, however, I am glad I had the foresight to confirm and clarify our reservation in writing. I was provided with on reservation number for two rooms - apparently I should have received two. Who knew? Not me. So the price I was quoted was for one room for two nights. And that per night price was more expensive that posted on their website, but less than the cost for two rooms per night. So very clearly, my email questioned the quote as the cost for two rooms for two nights. Once I spoke to someone, I reconfirmed in writing and received their agreement. Smart me. While mistakes happen, how the hotel staff handled this was deplorable. The manager, I assume as no introduction was made, said I was wrong even though I insisted I had been emailing with them. No effort was made on their part to find their end of the email chain. When I showed them the email, she kept insisting that that's not right; that my quote was for one room and not two. She was rude, condescending, childish and even slammed the door on her way out. We got our two rooms for two nights at the price quoted. No note was left for when we checked out and I was asked to pay the other half of our bill. I suspect the clerk had been apprised of the situation and was told to ask for it regardless of any backlash he might receive. I never did get a contract or receipt for the second room so I suspect they didn't even register that we had the second room. It's left a really bad taste and I will be checking our credit card statement carefully to make sure there are no additional charges by this hotel. Note to the manager, if you hadn't been so awful about it, we were willing to meet you half way.

There were 4 of us and we decided to go with a simple one bed and a pullout couch. Starting with the pros: -Wonderful location. You are right by the beach and the park. The inn is also close to convenience stores, restaurants, pharmacies, shopping areas, etc. Majority within walking distance. -Plenty of parking space for the cars, which is in the back area. Now for the cons: -Since we were 4 people, we would've expected to get a reasonable amount of the basic needs that the hotel should provide. This was not the case for us, and it also was a pain in the behind to get throughout our short 3 days and 2 night stay. -The only pillows and blankets we had were from the main bed; there was nothing for the pullout couch. If you're going to provide a pullout couch and expect that 4 people can stay in the room, how can you expect 4 people to share 2 pillows and 1 blanket? You should have enough pillows and blankets for the amount of people that you can expect to stay in the room. -The AC in our room wasn't working properly. It was as if Jiminy Cricket was blowing air from the AC.....yeah. -We called to the front desk and asked for a blanket, a pillow and a fan. -We were able to get the extra pillows and blanket (***After trying to call the front desk twice and receiving each item separately, making us have to call another time to ask them again for the blanket***) but not the fan. Apparantly they had run out of working fans. We decided to try the next day to get one. - I called 5 times throughout the day and no one picked up. Finally we went down ourselves to the front desk to ask for a fan. -The person at the desk said "There is nothing I can do because the manager is not here and we still don't have a fan for you." "I am not responsible for that." Well, you are being paid to work here, and since when working in a hotel doesn't come with the responsibility of the comfort of the guests? -It wasn't until the end of our stay that we got a fan. Thank you. -The bed was comfortable enough, the pullout couch needs updating ASAP. You might as well could have slept on the floor. You can feel the shape of the springs in the bed, which made it really uncomfortable. We also had a senior with us, so for her it was even harder to get comfortable. -Things like the toaster and some of the kitchen supplies were definitely not cleaned properly from the last time they were used. -The pool was a decent size for the size of the inn, but if you're not a fan of people smoking around you, that's something you may want to think about before using the pool since they allow smoking and drinking in the pool area. -Overall the look at feel of the room was not that great, it needs TLC for sure and some updated furniture such as a new pullout couch, since the one we had wasn't even half decent. Overall, I would not waste my money coming back to this inn, I'd rather go to another one even if it means me paying a little extra. Definitely would not recommend to anyone, especially if you are a larger party.
