The area is filled with restaurants, pubs, coffee houses and is a couple minutes walk to the lakefront. The hotel itself has a colourful history and great B&W photo's throughout the hotels public spaces to fill you in. They did a wonderful job of allowing us to kinda check in early and then called us when our room was ready. The rooms were nicely appointed in our double Queen with a good amount of room. The bathroom is a little snug, given the door brushes the front of the toilet. The bathroom is a one person at a time deal unless you're fine with close proximity bathroom habits. The bed was comfy, which is always a big thing for us. The breakfast covers all the bases, and although not memorable, offers a good variety to satisfy most seekers of the most important meal of the day. Location, comfort, nostalgia, parking, walk ability and you have us interested. Add great staff and you have a gem overlooked. Don't tell anyone though please.

Sierra was more than accomodating by holding the lost items in their lost&found and doing the extra work to parcel them up and send them to me. That should tell you all you need to know about the good people running the hotel.

Maybe I'm visiting during weekdays, breakfast is just sliced bread, hard boiled eggs egg and bacon (which stop refilling after 8:50). Breakfast open till 9:30 and egg is kept refilling but not bacon. Muffins and pastry are not available. I guess it is weekend only? But it's a okay place to stay if you need free parking, low price within the town, 15min drive to airport, and winery is just the main spot for me!

After I was seated, it took over 5 minutes before the server brought me water and to ask me what I wanted (no greeting no pleasantries). I ordered Earl Grey tea and a yogurt parfait. It took almost 15 minutes before it came. The food and tea were good. But the server didn't check to see if I was enjoying the food. The server came back and blandly asked me if there was anything else i wanted. I said, "Just the bill." I waited and waited and then finally stood up and walked towards the entrance, hoping to pay so I could leave as I had been there for almost an hour. I saw another server and asked her if I could please get my bill as I pointed to the table where I had been sitting. It was then that my server came up to me and asked if I needed anything else. With a bemused look I said, "Yes! The thing I asked for already; the bill". She said nothing and got me the bill. I paid while the other server was still standing there and said, "I'm sorry. We are very busy today, which was ironic as I could see at least 6 or 7 tables with no one sitting at them.

The location in the countryside is gorgeous. They were even kind enough to run us down the hill when we were done - and provided masks and proper distancing. The two guides were friendly and helpful. During our two our ride, they would periodically asked if we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. They took us to a spot where a wild forest fire took place 8 years ago and to this day we can still see the devestation of it. They offered a 10% discount for groups of 4 or more people. It was a nice experience to see Okanagan from a different perspective.

We were looking for a room on the lower end of the price spectrum and from what we found purely from online research, Y Knot offered great value for the price. The breakfasts prepared by Colin and Gail were delightful! We also enjoyed the big king sized bed in our room (dubbed Kai's Waterfall by our hosts). Although the hot tub and pool were close or down for maintenance when we visited, we were able to take advantage of the wonderful steam room in the basement. One of our must-do's during our visit was to ride the Kettle Valley Railway portion that runs across the hillside above Naramata and Penticton. We explicitly chose Y Knot because they offered us the loan of two bikes and a ride up the hillside to where the KVR bike path begins. If we had walked our bikes up there, it would have been a bad slog. Our bedroom was adjacent to a common area shared with the other guest suite. In the mornings Colin and Gail put out a hot coffee or tea for us before breakfast. There was also a microwave and mini fridge in this common space available for our use. My only suggestion is that it would have been comforting to have access to a kettle and some mugs. I enjoy a bed time cup of tea but wasn't sure if I would over step my hosts hospitality by asking to use theirs so I did without.
