Sometime in the summer of 2021, I made an appointment to a particular barber only to be given a different barber. On my Jan 21st, 2022 haircut, Moe my barber was 40 minutes late but I waited. Today March 11, 2022 I came in at 1:55pm for my 2pm appointment and was told Moe is not coming in. The barber or the owner have my contact number and email address, but no one contacted me. The least a business owner could do is contact it's clients if the service is cancelled or something came up. But they make you come over and waste your trip for nothing, not even a word from the business owner. Why have an appointment system online anyway if your are not going to honor the time and effort your customers are making to go into your business? Why not just put in your website, "walk-in only"? You would think, oh support the local businesses that are hurting but how can you support a business who somehow, messes up with you several times? Am I being singled out for being ignored? Or do this happen more often to customers who just doesn't complain? I will never come back, and if you value your time, do not come to this barbershop !!!

I went to my parents' house afterward, and my mom gasped, "That is a REALLY nice cut." I have also had her straighten my wavy hair and it still had a ton of body, despite using the flat iron on it. The downside is that the cuts were a bit pricy for my budget, and I like it when stylists take a bit longer. More recently, I was going to Sharon when I was in Ottawa. Sharon is young, hip, and often has crazy hair, but never did anything wild to me at all (I was a grad student and wanted low-maintenance hair). Usually I would tell her in vague terms what I wanted, but once I had a picture... and forgot it at home. Somehow she still figured out exactly what I wanted, and it was perfect. They only list a "base price" on the website which is just an apprentice price and it goes up and up from there. They also change your "hair length" (as they charge more for longer hair) if your appointment takes more than 45 minute. This is only actually your scheduled appointment time too, if the person before you took longer and you're seen later as a result of that also expect to be dinged with this fee. I would suggest to the business just to add a price breakdown on the website with the costs for cuts at each length with each level of hair stylist just to allow for customers to be more well informed before coming in and so that nothing is a surprise! Otherwise the staff is very nice, the vibe is that they all get along well and there's conversation all around. The stylist I had was Nina and she did a good job and was absolutely lovely!

Laura (my stylist extraordinaire) assured me upon booking that it would be a breeze, and she was right. This location is super conveniently located next to a pay and display parking lot. The prices are totally reasonable, and they have short term (2 hour max) and long term (whole day) options available. What a relief! Leading up to my appointment I had been indecisive, to say the least. Laura was patient and helpful with helping me to decide on a look that was close to what I pictured, but also achievable in one shot (I tend to want really big changes that take many, many procedures, and Laura always manages to help me get as close as possible in one go so that I don't leave disappointed). The rest is pretty standard- I have dark hair and had booked in for highlights and color, so my visit was fairly lengthy. While I was there staff was polite and friendly, and it was very clear they have positive relationships with their clients. One of my friends came to meet me and was so impressed she herself is looking forward to her own visit in the near future. If you're looking for a good spot for a cut or colour, hit this place up. I've been coming to this salon in the Westgate Mall for about 3 years now, and I love it. I don't always get the same hair stylist, but if Danielle is free you should absolutely try and go with her. She's got a great eye, is friendly but not annoying or too talkative, and she always gives AMAZING scalp massages while you're getting your hair washed. No matter what stylist I get, they're always super professional (not chatty with their coworkers, or pressuring you to buy products) and are full of great advice if needed. I really appreciate a place where you can drop in and they'll do their best to accommodate you. If you're heading there on the weekend though, I definitely recommend making an appointment or you could be waiting awhile.

The incredibly kind hairdresser, who said she was from Ukraine was struggling to speak English which made it difficult to communicate, and when done, my daughter was very upset and crying as she felt it was frizzy and puffy (no product was used). the woman felt really badly about this and apologized. I followed up with an email and the owners response was SHOCKING and incredibly inappropriate. He said that a refund OR blow dry redo would directly impact a poor struggling new Ukrainian refugee's financial wellbeing and how would I feel if I took money away from her and her family. He said all the stores in that area are financially struggling and he would do nothIng. He said he watched the security cam and said her hair was perfect from what he saw on the video. I said I took pictures of her hair the minute we left (attached). Overall, hope the salon can take steps to improve communication and ensure customer satisfaction And I do not recommend this salon.

It's almost like knowing a magical dermatologist who can fix ANYTHING (_and_ find a way to bill OHIP for it) -- what's the point in having a fabulous complexion if anyone can go and get one? Same deal with terrific hair...! As virtually every fine-haired person's review mentioned when he was at Moda: if you have fine hair, Frankie di Caria will be your head's BFF. (And if you are the sort of silly who thrills to parent-and-child trips to the salon, he is excellent with kids. Plus your fussbudget little preferences, like "no styling products except X," are remembered.) It is a nice, unpretentious salon with no irritants -- you will be offered a drink but there is no excess toadying from the support staff, no Enya, no upsell with the salon products (they do have a good selection, though), no snooty stylists -- the focus is just, thank god, on doing a precise job on people's hair in a cheerful environment; unlike too many better salons, they have not confused "must have haughty staff and stiff, pretentious environment to convey our klassiness." (Of course these are always the same crap places that spend most of the time drivelling on about the $200 worth of products you will need to maintain their blah cut, because "I'm not much of a product user, and appreciate wash and wear stuff" is an insult -- surely after spending that much on a cut you want to get up early to fiddle with it? FC cuts have never required fiddles, because they cut it right. Er, apparently I have an axe to grind with my old salon. This might have something to do with once having to spend two hours there in close proximity to the ill-mannered Mulroney family, but I digress...) It isn't quite a discount salon, but the cuts I get here stay looking nice for _so_ long that it works out better to get a careful cut here every few months than have an imprecise one fall to hell in a month or so.
