Went in for an oil change. Zach was so friendly and professional. He told me we had an oil pan…read moregasket leak and needed 2 front tires at some point (which we knew already). Didn't try to pressure me into anything extra. We will be coming back to get the repairs needed. Quoted a very reasonable price, I also love that they offer deals and coupons to help save a little extra. Definitely will be my go-to auto shop moving forward!

Words can't express my sincere gratitude to Zack and the team at Midas in Newton, New Jersey…read more After competing at a dog show at the fairgrounds nearby, my Jeep Wrangler suddenly started making grinding noises when I accelerated. Being hundreds of miles from home in an unfamiliar area, I was at a complete loss for where to go for help. Feeling somewhat vulnerable. I googled the closest mechanic I could find. Traveling alone with my dog, I could have easily been taken advantage of by a less reputable mechanic shop. The team at Midas in Newton were outstanding. I suspected my car needed an oil change, but upon further detection, they showed me my front right tire's caliper and brake pad needed to be replaced asap as it was grinding metal-on- metal. Had I not addressed the issue, the consequences could've been dire, perhaps even deadly to myself, my dog and/or others on the road. It's worth noting it was 5:15pm on Saturday of Labor Day weekend and I'm sure everyone was eager to close and get on with the holiday. Despite this, they put my needs first. Quickly sourcing the parts needed to fix my jeep, I was astonished to be back on the road again by 6:04pm. While in the lobby, I had the pleasure of getting to know the team, meeting family members and learning more about the business. Saying goodbye less than an hour later felt like leaving long lost friends. I commend Zack and his team for their professionalism, automotive expertise and client-first focus and wholeheartedly endorse their business, should ever the need arise. The team of gifted mechanics in Newton, New Jersey most definitely have 'The Midas Touch'! Thank you guys for your honesty, integrity, concern for our wellbeing and for putting the needs of this wayward traveler and her big brown dog first - you are a diamond in the rough and we are forever grateful! - Courtney Andrea Fox & Brady MacDuff

***HAMPTON XPRESS LUBE BEWARE!!***…read more I took my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee in for a routine, and what I thought at the time uneventful, oil change on 12/18/18 at the Hampton, NJ Xpress Lube. On 2/25/19 my Check Engine Light came on as I was pulling into my driveway. All pressures and temperatures appeared good, but I left it parked until I could get it into the dealership to investigate the morning of 2/27. Within a few minutes of pulling my Jeep into the garage, the service manager called me back and wanted to show me what had been found. Under the engine cover around the oil filter adapter cap was a mouse nest approximately 1 foot in diameter. Pinched under the adaptor cap was wedged a piece of the "mouse house" where oil had obviously been seeping out. When the oil filter was pulled out it was torqued in a corkshew pattern and within the oil filter cavity was yet more "mouse house". The pressure caused by this foreign matter was to blame for the disfigured filter. My oil dipstick was completely dry. It is a miracle my engine didn't seize and that none of the foreign matter made its way further into my engine causing irreparable damage. The final bill was over $370. I immediately called Xpress Lube to voice my displeasure and demand they pay the bill for the repair and stopped by to make the same demand after repairs were complete at the dealership. Dave, the manager, made copies of the dealership report, said they'd need a picture of the old filter and that he would discuss it with the owner, who was out of area, and took my contact information. Later that afternoon Dave called me and stated the owner had agree to make amends, but that to do so they'd need the actual filter, gasket and mouse material so they could file with the filter company. I contacted my dealership and had them collect all of the above, promptly collected it after I got off work and presented it to Dave that evening. He wanted to keep it, but I would not allow it and stated they could have it when I was repaid. He then told me the out of area owner would call me on Friday, the 1st. On Friday, Dave called me again stated his research had showed that the code Jeep put on the receipt was for an oil leak and referenced 3 Technical Bulletins insisting the leak was a fault of the Jeep. He suggested they were being scapegoated and the fault was the dealerships, who were trying to pin it on them. What code he expected for tech shoved a filter through a mouse nest I am uncertain of. He all but made it clear they would not make amends. I have never been spoken to or been called by the owner, although I have requested that contact on multiple occasions. This is an obvious case of an incompetent and/or indifferent technician doing the wrong thing and the local management not having the integrity to own it. I will be filing complaints with both corporate Xpress Lube and the BBB, if they are registered there. I strongly suggest you do not give them your business and that you share this with all your friends and family to protect them from a similar experience. Pictures of the warped filter, a chunk that was in the filter cavity, part of the pinched portion that came from under the adaptor cap and the dealership write up are below. I am not hard for cash, this is about principle.
