Scammed. Sam came and we told him that we need a new chimney cap (chimney had already been inspected). He quoted a little over $1600. He asked for a deposit. I wrote a check for $861. He came back a few days later with drone and other equipment. Went up on the roof 3 or 4 times and each time he came down he reported more and more damage. At the end, he quoted $25,000. We told him we wanted a 2nd opinion. Needless to say he was unhappy when he left. I contacted them to get my deposit back since the only thing he did was fly the drone around and send us an estimate of $25,000. He said that materials had been purchased and they were keeping the money. As far as I am concerned, he saw 2 older adults, one handicapped. I told him we were living off of social security but that did nothing to help. He basically scammed us out of $861, and tried to scam us for $25,000. Thankfully we found a reputable business and they fixed the chimney for $800. Sam seemed like a nice guy, but we have a terrible experience. I've given up trying to get the $861 back although I did not contact an attorney. It's just not worth aggravating myself over. I NEVER leave a bad review for anyone, but I imagine this is not the first time he had done this. read more

I would NOT recommend this company! They were hired to install a new liner in our chimney. They did not come back on times they said after the deposit was paid. Once the returned the work was not complete correctly to connect our hot water tanks. We had to call several times for it to be fixed. They returned only to do the job and not connect the the existing boiler and water tanks back to the chimney. I called several times and they did not return the call. I had to hire someone else to complete to job safely. This was the absoluteworse experience we have ever encountered with a service company!! read more

Contracted this company to come out and clean my dryer vent. I was quoted 199 and the technician told me it was 299 when he got here without even looking at the job. Cleaned out my dryer vent, but left lint in the lines and my dryer would not work. He left a mess outside my house which my association charge me $100 to get cleaned up. Broke the vent outside. Had to replace that cost me $25 plus I had to take everything apart and redo. It myself took me over three hours. Contacted them they told me they could not refund my money. I asked for the Owner to call me never called me. Been a week now would never recommend this company to anybody. Total pieces of garbage. read more

This review unfortunately is going to be both good and bad. The positive I will say was being in a bind and needing someone asap, and this company I found online with good reviews and they came out that day to assess. I was so upset of what was in the house and didn't like sleeping in my house with any form of animal getting in, they came back and did the job (most of it) that night. So I will definitely say the willingness to get the job done so timely was excellent. Now to the negatives. When I searched company it came up on Google as Prime Chimney in Glassboro NJ and was an 856 number that I called. When company came out it was then Xpert Chimney and Sweep and when they called and sent auto text was from a 973 area code. Was weird. Even weirder than prime no longer had a website, but showed active. The gentleman did the job till quite late in evening so I had piece of mind for the evening (was very nice of him), but then left bags of trash, 5ft pipe, and chimney capping in my backyard. I had to call next day asking if anyone was coming back to pick it up, and was told because it was late was forgotten. When all the trash was left at my house, my vinyl gate was never closed and my dog could have ran away if I didn't check to be sure. For the price everything came to, which was a lot (several thousand) which I partially understand because was a big job, but to not clean up, seems crazy to me, but was only cleaned up because I called requesting. After getting chimney work done, I also paid to get my vents cleaned. Was supposed to come Friday. Was told 8am, then later received a text from 10a-12p, someone would be out. When it was 1pm and didn't hear, so when I called was then told 3pm. When that didn't happen, was told it had to be another day because of in company issues and delays. All of which I had to call, because there was no communication. The day they came out they wanted 50% deposit right off the jump, after he did the chimney work until late in evening (around 10pm) wanted the second payment. All of which they cashed the checks immediately. Then was told they'd take 3rd and final check when vents were finished. My vents did not get done the day they were scheduled. Was told short of staff and vehicle issues that couldn't be done so he would provide a discount for the huge inconvenience and no communication, as well as all the trash left behind. Was told he would be back Monday 8am, maybe before. Monday rolls around, I ensured I was up early to have areas cleared for vent cleaning. Received text wouldn't be there till close to 845am. Did come around 845 (late) and began working. The helper asked me to show where all vents were throughout home. After job was completed my house looked like a nightmare. Dirt all over my house from the vents and all over my furniture where vents were near, and items on and in room knocked over. I assumed people used booties on their feet or drop clothes when working. That didn't happen. Took about 2 hours for all the vent cleaning. When it was finished was asked for final payment which I was waiting to be told amount so I could write the check. Then didn't want to give discount and acted as if had no idea what I was talking about and wanted to see the text from scheduler, yet he was the one who said of doing it Friday for all the issues that occurred. Then to see it only took 40$ off, which honestly when paying thousands was a slap in the face. I have to say I don't believe I will use this company again. There was just so many problems. I am glad and happy they did main job so quickly that day and assisted me, but all the rest of what happened, was very problematic. I feel like the customer service within the company was very poor and not managed well at all. When I would speak with Mel over the phone she acted as if she had no clue to any of my questions and had to call someone else and get back to me time later. While doing the main job was being offered added services the company itself wouldn't do such as added home improvements. Felt as if trying any way to get extra money. I do feel it was strange when asking him a direct question, he was elusive and changed subject. He advised he thought we needed a new roof, then when I asked the urgency as new roof was put on when purchased home 5-6 years ago, then said he'd have to see more but thinks it could be ok and didn't think it all needed replacing after all. When needing the job done urgently, the company did a good job, was able to get the animal/bird out of house for me was great. But all the poor communication, leaving all the trash for days, not doing the vent work day when scheduled, being late to arrive for the vent cleaning, and leaving debris from all the vents all over my flooring Im not sure I'd exactly recommend moving forward. I'll start by mentioning this is NOT the company I contacted (Glassboro Boys of Glassboro NJ). I was on a deadline to get work completed, so I called what I thought was a local company. Not sure how this company operates, but it seems they use well-reviewed companies that may or may not exist to get in the door. After several missed 3-hour windows just waiting for a quote (with their dispatchers lying about where the tech was), the tech finally showed up. Now this was during a recent snowstorm, but THEY suggested the time, even when I questioned that it would be during snow for a chimney quote. Every time they said they'd call, I had to call them. When they tried to schedule service (When I tried after having paid half of the quote upfront and not hearing from them, I should say), we agreed on a time when I got home from work. Then I got a call during work that the tech was 45 mins out, THREE HOURS before the appointment window. Having dealt with trying to reschedule with these guys, I gave up and left work to meet the tech. The same tech who quoted me had missed an obvious feature of one chimney, which then cost me another $1200 over the original quote. At this point it was nearly $3000 just to get 2 chimney caps installed. Then the tech didn't finish and promised to return the next day during the workday. He didn't, and I had to call AGAIN to find out what was happening, since they had already cashed my final check and held onto the second cap, despite my suggestion that it remain at my house as insurance. After having to threaten to dispute the check or call the police, they finally sent the tech to complete the job, at which point they couldn't understand why I was upset. I should have turned away the minute I realized it wasn't the company I contacted. That will teach me not to research in advance, but again, I was on a deadline and these guys were the only ones to commit to the window. Deceptive advertising and incompetent customer service. We needed our gas insert serviced urgently as we had a party at the weekend. I called several places and they gave me 2 week lead times, which would not be ideal as we needed the fireplace on for the weekend. I called Xpert and they had an engineer out the next day (Sam), he was great fixed the root cause in 10minutes, then explained that the chimney needed a clean as well as the fireplace. Quoted me $635 including Tax, I said yes even though I knew I was paying probably a little over the odds. In the end it was well worth it, as my fireplace is now clean and working and I was happy to pay extra for the rush job! Sam explained how the fireplace operates and how the air vent should be worked. Well done Sam! When you call Xpert know that you will pay for the rush job and don't complain about it, it is what it is when two weeks is the wait time in winter for services.
