Picture a 330 lb. man who has been an Allstate athlete about 15 years ago... that's me! I was a little wary when I decided to see how it would work out (pun intended). The coaches were and are some of my favorite people in the world. They base the intensity of the WOD to what you need individually. Modification is key and they are absolute experts at it. I am now addicted to cross fit and will be here for the long term. I've not just lost weight (8 weeks in down 15 lbs) but have started replacing it with muscle which is not helping me to burn even more fat! Can't recommend it enough.

But CFCL "raises the bar" above and beyond the others. The owner, Joe, has always been absolutely awesome to work with and it shows. He not only believes highly in his gym, but his community as well. The coaches, Joe, Jesse, Ryan and Troy are the ones I've worked with so far and are above and beyond the gold standard of coaches/mentors/trainers. They bring a lot to the table and their instruction is easy to understand and will work with you on anything you may or may not be comfortable with. This gym is next level and absolutely worth giving a shot. They have an amazing community, exceptional trainers, and you always get a workout you'll be proud of. As a "definitely needs work" 43 year old, I was a little skeptical about this style of workout, and concerned about working out with such exceptional athletes. After your first session you'll at CFCL you'll understand why the Crossfit community is crazy awesome. The folks their are extremely welcoming and supportive of anyone on any fitness level. The interior was really cute, with aesthetic walls featuring their logo and a charming merch setup at the front of the store. As you walk further into the building, there was a locker room where I could store my belongings during class. The classroom itself had a great vibe. The LED lights gave it a high-end, energized feel, and the space was neat and well-organized. The mats on the floor were really helpful for following along with the instructor, and there were baskets filled with weights and bands that we could easily grab before the class started for the workout. The room was spacious and allowed for plenty of people to be in the class. The instructor was fantastic--very helpful with the exercises. She clearly explained the correct positioning and moved around the room, demonstrating the movements to make sure we all understood. The workout itself was challenging at times, and I definitely had to take a break a few times. But the burn felt amazing, and it really got my body moving! Overall, it was a great experience, and I'd definitely love to come back. The positive energy in the studio and the wonderful people made it even better!

Walking into CrossFit Lake Zurich was one of the best decisions I have ever made and let me just say that when I did walk in this place, it was just a "box" - some weights, kettlebells, barbells, not a whole lot. So obviously there is a lot to be said about the person behind this place but that is something you cannot figure out unless you give it a chance by walking in and trying it. By next year at this time (my 48th birthday), my goal is to be able to do a pullup - maybe even a few - and not something to be taken lightly. I have attended two of the Saturday morning cardio kick boxing classes here and they were awesome!…read more I would not expect any less from Justin though - he is focused on each client by explaining each move, correcting their form to avoid any injury (especially when kicking the bag) and attentive to each clients individual needs. This is not the first time that I have worked with Justin - when he was in the "chain style" gyms training clients that is where my journey began. It's been over a year since I have seen him but think it is important to let you all know the following. I was severely overweight and when he was my trainer he taught me not only different workout styles like tabatta, boxing, cardio, strength but he also taught me about the heart rate monitor that I would wear during my workouts. How important it would be to stay in certain zones to target fat burn. I had lost just under 100 lbs under his care and have continued to lose since. He would point out another gym member and say you will get there... his encouragement felt honest and sincere just like it does today when I'm back there working out. I'm glad he reached back out to me so I have the pleasure of being around the trainer that started me on my journey! You won't be disappointed at all and the other clients taking the class are friendly as well, which helps a lot! If I am able to share my before/after photo I will but I can't in this post. The photos he has shared I know are true because I have seen some of these clients transform as well around the gym and then at this training facility.
