I have been taking Agnes classes for 2 years ( took a break while pregnant ) and started back up a month post partum. In the beginner class, you can take it easy as you need if you're starting out and gradually add more to challenging yourself. She changes up her flow and class every week, so you are consistently working different areas of the body. I took yoga classes at random and used to feel it a slow boring waste of time more or less a relaxing class that does "stretching". I love to lift and do intense endurance cardio. It wasn't until going here consistently that I was blown away with the fitness aspect of yoga- the strength/flexibility/core stability/etc. involved. You will be challenged more than you possibly think and I promise the health benefits, both mentally and physically, will surprise you! I highly recommend Melt and the classes here. BUYER BEWARE! Out of all the fitness equipment companies out there, this is one you should…read moreabsolutely avoid. There are far better, more trustworthy options than this shady operation. I found a NordicTrack treadmill listed on their website and placed an order. Shortly after, the owner, Evan Lyons, contacted me claiming the item was mispriced--but assured me he would honor the listed price. I explained that I had already placed an order directly with NordicTrack, but chose his company because it was cheaper, which is common with authorized resellers. He told me he'd coordinate with his NordicTrack rep to confirm the correct part numbers and proceed with the order. Then I received both a call and a text confirming the order was moving forward--and was explicitly told by his "rep" to cancel my direct NordicTrack order. At that point, I had over $50,000 tied up between the two purchases. When I contacted NordicTrack to cancel, I was hit with a 10% cancellation fee plus return freight charges. So now I'm already losing money. And what does this company do next? They suddenly refund my order because they no longer want to honor their commitment or pricing. No accountability, no integrity--just backing out when it no longer suits them. So now I'm left paying the price for their incompetence and dishonesty. Thankfully, I've involved legal counsel to recover my losses. I also have every text message, voicemail, and email documenting this entire situation, which will make the legal process straightforward. This company put themselves in a bad position and instead of doing the right thing, they chose to screw over their customer. That tells you everything you need to know. Do yourself a favor--find a reputable company. And take a very close look at their reviews. Ask yourself how many of them are actually real.

I was ecstatic that they use the level method here since my home gym uses that and I'm familiar it already! The programming was very clear and allowed for enough time to properly warm up, and complete the skill/strength portion of the workout before moving into the WOD. Colin was super encouraging and motivating, while also giving me some coaching on points of performance to improve my movements. I highly recommend reaching out ahead of time and getting signed up online, it was a super easy process! The facility is clean, spacious, and well equipped with all the essentials! The offerings are great, with a good selection of high quality facilities, equipment, group classes, park district activities/lessons, etc. The staff is amazing. They really care about their jobs and their members. They greet you by name, take the time to help with any questions or issues, and take member feedback seriously. They also have an on-site childcare offering (Kids Korner) that is FANTASTIC! I have been taking my children there for 7 1/2 years and 1 year respectively. The service, and especially the people, have been a godsend. They take such good care of my kids, and I am a very tough critic in this regard. Age appropriate activities, close supervision, engaged and caring staff, clean environment (I constantly see them cleaning surfaces and toys), and as a parent whose children have been going since they were small babies I appreciate the hygiene guidelines they enforce (no shoes, socks must be worn, hand sanitizer readily available, no sick children, etc). I started training with with Emily this past year to compete in Olympic Lifting. I've loved every minute training with her. She truly is an amazing Coach. She's very attentive, has been spot on with my programming needs since day one, has a great eye for making form corrections, and the list can go on. Last year, I decided it would be good to start running. I hate running, so I needed somewhere good…read moreto go on colder days when I didn't feel like running in the streets. One of my friends told me to check this place out, which was only a couple miles away from me. She loved their classes (she did Yoga, Pilates, and some kind of ab class) and thought I'd benefit from their facilities, especially the track. Although the Centre has a membership fee for the machines & classes, I was able to use the track for free since I was a resident (at the time). That was all I needed. I loved it! The track was clean and never too crowded. I don't think a lot of people realized what a gem this place was. I went at different times during the day and enjoyed running quietly by myself or alongside my husband (he came with me a couple times). Lockers are also available next to the track with keys. I also walked around the Centre and saw two nice pools, climbing wall, new & clean machines, and several rooms for classes. The only downside is that the parking garage is kind of narrow and you have to watch out for cars coming around the corner. It's hard to find parking sometimes, but at least the garage is attached to some kind of indoor bridge over the street so you don't have to walk across the street. I also came here once for some kind of green festival and really enjoyed all the displays, booths, taste samples, art, and petting zoo! Many parts of Elgin are really run-down but this is one part of Elgin that shines. If it wasn't for the Centre (and the library nearby), I wouldn't have been complete.

Trying to stay physically active and flexible after beating yourself up for so long can be frustrating when seemingly most options at a gym will leave your joints wrecked for a week. So let me tell you about my new friend Pilates and "Jump". It was one of the most rewarding workouts I've experienced in a long time. It was challenging, focused, but paced at my own abilities and needs. Additionally, I didn't think the Jumpin would be as great as it was but I felt great the next day. April the owner is a force of positivity as well, she does some amazing outreach and helps support the neighborhood with several ongoing programs, donation drives, and events.
