Midtown Athletic Club is truly more than just a fitness club--it's a community. From the moment you…read morewalk through the doors, you're welcomed by friendly, personable people who genuinely care about getting to know you and supporting your goals. Upon entering, Holly and the front desk team consistently greet you with a smile, and their positivity radiates. The instructors and trainers are exceptional; they bring so much knowledge, energy, encouragement, and personality to everything they do. Whether you're taking your favorite yoga or barre class (thank you Olga and Christine!), working with a trainer (Deanna is the best!), or are simply looking for motivation, there is always someone there to help you feel supported and challenged in the best possible way. People are encouraging, welcoming, and genuinely happy to see one another. And, it starts the minute you schedule your tour of the facility to see what the club has to offer. My husband and I weren't sure we were going to join, but after spending quality time with Gabi, we were sold. She asked thoughtful questions about our fitness journey and goals, while also making us feel like we were talking to a friend we had known for forever. We knew that showing up and staying committed to our fitness journey was something we were actually going to look forward to, and we weren't wrong! In addition to the exceptional staff, Midtown is a beautiful facility with wonderful amenities. Make sure to schedule a massage with Vanina, and take advantage of the resort like feel of the pools, hot tub, sauna and steam room after a long workout. Grab a meal, get work done in the library between classes, or lounge with a drink in your hand- whatever you're feeling, it's an option! Midtown is a wonderful place to pursue your fitness goals, grow stronger, and become part of a community that wants to see you succeed!

I've been a member for two years. The front staff, instructors and cleanliness 5 stars. The pool,…read morelocker rooms and class schedule drop the overall "luxury gym" experience to a 3 star club. This summer (as compared to summer 2025) the pool has been a park district experience and not "luxury" or "spa like". From Memorial Day to July 30th the water was cloudy (you could barely see the lap lines on the deep end) with green algae growing on the walls. I brought it to management's attention and they assured me it was safe to swim because they did a "chemical shock" at night. Finally they shut it down for a couple days and fixed whatever the problem was. Kids are going to be at the pool in summertime, I get that! But...there are kids running, screaming and crying from 10:00 on throughout the day with pool toys from home strewn about the deck and pool ledge. Outside food is not allowed, but I've seen families bring in literal picnic baskets and no one says a word. Food dropped or left all over and birds swooping in to pick it up. Gross. One time I was swimming laps and tweens hopped into the adult lap lane next to me and started their own private noodle fight. I was getting inadvertently sacked with noodles and leg kicks while I lapped. Lifeguards just sat there. Underage kids are always in the women's locker room. Always. I brought it to management's attention, but there's been no change. I didn't realize a mom and her three kids had walked in and were in the same area as me and when I turned around to get on my suit a ten year old boy's eyes almost popped out of his head. Ughhhhh! The class schedule is great with a ton of variety for all fitness levels, IF you can workout during the mornings (6-noon). If you can only go at night, there's potentially a single class in the afternoon (4:30/5 start time) for moderate athletes. No barre, yoga or Pilates mat offered at that time on any weekday. I have not brought that up with management because all other issues I've brought to their attention were ignored.

She is very focused on her job which is to give the client the best training session possible based on their needs and abilities that particular day. Jenny is always on time, and gently coaxes my mom to do more and work harder while being very cognizant of my mom's limitations (which can change from session to session) and making sure my mom does not get injured. Jenny is also very open to suggestions on modifying the training sessions based on updated goals. She is a great communicator and very kind to my mother as well. Jenny has trained my mom's caregivers to do specific exercises on the other four days of the week so that my mom can continue to increase her strength, balance and ability to walk for longer and longer stretches on her own without assistance. My mom's physical abilities and strength have improved since having Jenny as her trainer. We had another trainer for several years however Jenny has been much better at achieving positive results for my mom. We highly recommend Jenny as a personal fitness trainer!

But with the cold weather, exercising outside had become a miserable experience. I decided to try out a few sessions with Jenny hoping that our time together would give me some inspiration. I soon realized that training with Jenny was a life changing experience! For the first time ever, I'm actually excited to workout! The sessions are always incredibly enjoyable and rewarding. Not only is she great at her job, she is also one of the kindest, most generous people you'll ever meet. Jenny genuinely cares about you and will do everything she can to help you accomplish your fitness goals. I can't imagine going on this journey with anyone other than Jenny. I recommend her 100%. One session with her and you'll be hooked---I guarantee it!

I provided a literal doctors note stating I couldn't work out and they told me they can't cancel my membership because "6 months isn't a good enough reason to cancel". The note had to state "indefinitely". I had to jump through hoops to get it canceled after a physical injury!!! Was penalized for getting injured. And then they were rude to me because I was trying to cancel! Sorry I got injured??? When I first signed up all they did was try to get me to pay more for more classes, personal training, etc. Initially they told me all classes were included to what I was paying and then all of a sudden I had to pay extra for the classes. On top of it, the machines are dirty and so is the facility and the place is pretty small. There's a layer of dust covering the stair masters/treadmills and cobwebs in the corners. I would literally never recommend anyone get a membership here. Spend the extra couple dollars a month and go to LifeTime or LAFitness.

One of the main reasons I signed up with this gym was for the 5am start. I can't do a 6am workout when I start work at 7 and of course need to shower after an hour long workout. Logistically it does make sense. More importantly though, I've gone many times when it was during their supposed hours and the location has been closed. Random times like 10am on a Saturday, 5pm on weekdays...I don't get it. I just felt like I was promised a lot when I signed up that was not delivered on. The good is that when I signed up it was just $20/month though I think the prices have gone up. Their website no longer works, calls go to voicemail with no return call.
