I was going try online tax return 2023 year with the usual organization like TurboTax or taxslayer but unfortunately their representatives told me that I needed to amended my 2022 due to errors with property rental declaration. The bummer was they didn't want to help me at all and I feel like they don't have the expertise as they should to help me. Luckily I found XOA tax service with CPA agents who happily accepted my case. They were able to process my issues but the BIG surprise was they were able to get an 2023 estimate refund of few thousand dollars for me. The good folks here are very communicative and will answer every question you have. They make sure all your documents and information are in order, and if you forget a form or document, sending it to them is very easy. I love that I can simply text, call, or email and someone gets back to me in a timely manner. I started taking my mom here last year and it's been a smooth process for her as well. When I followed up again stating that the time had passed. He apologized and asked if they could reschedule for another day?! I would give them zero stars if I could. My tax took over almost 2 months to be completed. I paid $280 for my services and mind you, my documents is very straight forward. I met with my preparer to submit my documents. He told me I have to pay the fees upfront via zelle which I thought was odd since service has not even started. After they made copies and took my payment, it took them weeks to respond with open items via email. The open items was on an excel list and they request to respond on that excel list. No coutesty call or nothing. I'm not saying my $280 is a lot but service and communication like this is my first time seeing and so laughable. After my documents was completed they explained to me that the tax for this year has been extended so I still fall within the deadline. Yeah it's extended but does it really take u that long to finish my taxes? I had a few questions on my tax and hoping the actual CPA would reach out to me directly to explain my taxes, but nope. The preparaer/ tax accountant became middle man and advise me what the CPA told him. He couldn't even explain in detail what the CPA recommended. Although my documents was reviewed by a CPA but the CPA didnt reach out to me for questioning. After all that, they sent me my files via email for signature. So if you're not tech savvy, and responsive to emails, I suggest u stay away. Never again I will come back. Service and communication is shitty. If u really need CPA advice and actually want to see them in person to ask questions, please go somewhere else. There's no person to person interaction. Everything processed here is electronically. What a waste of time! Update: The response from the manger said I was disrespectful to the team. Please provide evidence that I was and in what ways? Don't play the victim game. I contacted Xoa Tax this year because I was getting ready to sell a property. I figured out through my own independent research that the accountant I had been working with, if given accurate information about when and how to sell the house, may have given me some bad advice.The capital gains taxes I was facing could have been avoided if I had been given sound advice a few years prior. I reached out to Hoang, and within 15 minutes he was able to assess the situation and understand my problems.Although his fee was much higher than other competitors, I decided to give him the opportunity due to his excellent Yelp reviews and great conversation on the phone. Hoang helped me take care of everything at the office, and I didn't have anything to do but worry about my tax payment. I felt confident that my taxes were handled properly since he's an great CPA. A month or so after I paid the property taxes, the county notified me. Apparently there is a retroactive tax that I needed to pay. When I talked about it with Hoang, she said that my old accountant had been using the wrong number for calculating how much my home was worth. He then filed my amendment for free, which ended up saving me a lot of money. Pros: 1. Exceptionally responsive via email. I never waited more than 3 business hours for a reply. 2. Quick to assess a situation and knows which questions to ask. 3. Will answer your questions in a timely manner regardless of the topic. Cons: 1. Cant think of anything now, could be the lack of face-to-face communication but I can live with that as long as my concern is addressed promptly.
