Unlike its more popular sister cart just down the street (#1), Xinjiang #2 has all the same delicious skewers without the headache of the crowds. The men that run this cart have been doing it for years and have really mastered the ability to make tender chunks of meat on a stick taste as good if not better than the equivalent in a restaurant. My overall favorite is lamb, which usually is high on everyone else's list as well. The meat isn't that hearty, but the little bits of fat on the sides are wonderful with the charcoal flavor and light dusting of chili powder. (#2) The chicken is a close second and the organ choices, such as chicken heart, liver sound a lot more intimidating than the real thing. Last time I checked, $2 a skewer was the most expensive option and that was lamb tendon. After questioning it initially, I've become a major convert. The only issue is that it often runs out and doesn't have the shelf life that most of their meats have. So in short: when they have it, get it. Of course, Mandarin is the language to speak here, however since they have a menu on the side, pointing isn't such a bad idea either. This has got to be one of my favorite places (along with the Peking duck stand which is another one of my reviews). It took us a while to find the cart. Basically don't expect them to stay in the same location, they'll most likely be on different blocks. I thought I was going to miss them because I couldn't find them but it so happened my boyfriend and I were just walking around and stumbled upon them. I got tendon, squid, chicken, lamb and beef skewers and it was so good! They make it right there so it's all nice and hot, very flavorful too. It's ~$1.50 per skewer so it's a pretty good deal, especially when comparing other New York price foods. If I go to flushing again, I'll definitely keep an eye out for this food cart again! read more

This place is sort of hit or miss. There are definitely better carts in Flushing. This location always has a long line. I went today to get a lamb skewer and a chicken heart skewer. As with all the other BBQ carts in Flushing, the skewers are grilled over charcoal and the cost is between $1.50-$2.00 per skewer, depending on what you get. You can also choose to get it spicy or not, but be careful because when they say spicy, they mean it. Unfortunately, today was a bad day for their lamb. The lamb was all fat and gristle, making it a very unsatisfying experience. The chicken heart was also rubbery and not all that warm. I always worry about how these carts keep their prepped-but-uncooked meat skewers, but it's something I probably shouldn't think about. read more

Ever since I started going to Flushing, this cart has been a necessary pit stop at least once every time I go. I often remark to my friends when I take them to Flushing that I stop by this cart 3 times whenever I'm around: once when I get to Flushing, once in the middle of my visit, and once before I leave. It's that good. It's hard to find a better bang for your buck in terms of gustatory delight when these skewers are $1.50. I don't know how they prepare their meat, but it's always so juicy and flavorful. It's insane... you really have to try it for yourself. I highly, highly recommend the lamb, and definitely spicy. I don't think it's that spicy, but you can ask for only a little if you're worried. I wouldn't get the chicken because it's the least "interesting," in my opinion (i.e. easiest to replicate at home). Beef is a good secondary choice if you're not into lamb. I keep telling myself that I'll try the other stuff when I come, but unfortunately, I'm not in Flushing too much, so I always end up resorting to getting a bunch of lamb, because that's what I miss when I think about this cart (plus, it's 50 cent more, so it's hard to justify when I know how good lamb is). If I do try them someday, I'll make sure to update this review. Honestly, I've never tried any of the carts (to think that there are better ones in Flushing... that's a day trip in itself), but the skewers here have become one of my favorite foods, period. read more

*Grunt* This place fits in perfectly with 2 of my recurring Yelp review themes: 1) It makes me poop & 2) It's ghetto Lately I've been addicted to using the ampersand symbol (it looks like a stick figure dragging his butt across the floor). Anywho, you shouldn't be concerned about the diarrhetic (hehe, play on words) portion of this review; anything spicy makes me need a bathroom anyways, so trust me, it's not them, it's me... I should probably do something about that... Maybe I'm dying. My general heuristic to cart food is: the simpler the better, and this cart is almost as simple as it gets. Beef, chicken, or lamb, spicy or not spicy. I don't like telling people what to eat but nobody gets the beef, it's all about the spicy chicken. They use a sort of spicy powder that I've never come across anywhere else; even the texture of the spice sprinkled onto my stick of meat is none I've ever encountered. A part of the fun I have with this place is trying to figure out what that spice is & speaking of sticks of meat, I'm suddenly reminded of one of SuperBad's best lines. "You know how many foods are shaped like dicks? The best kinds!" - Jonah Hill Several other add ons to enjoy your chicken to mouth experience is the fat content & location. DISAPPOINTING!!! I used to go to a small BBQ place across from the mall/ Macy's. However, they stopped selling it :(. So I had to find a new one. I passed by this cart and decided to give it a try. I got chicken gizzard skewer and my friend got lamb skewer. The flavor was very mediocre, it definitely needed more seasoning. The lamb was burnt and didn't taste like lamb. Not much of service is offered since it's street food. They are not very organized with ordering system. I will probably NOT get skewers from this place in the future. read more

Pretty good shish kabobs and they're super cheap. Sometimes it comes out too fatty for my liking and that is a complete turn off for me.
