Wandering around UCLA and the village, looking for a place to dine at for dinner and some friends were familiar with this small chain which recently opened in Westwood. Accommodating our party of 8 was no problem. We ordered family style to try as many dishes as possible. Everything was great! Flavorful, large portions, and even some unique dishes. The servers were very attentive. We had lots of requests and they handled it well. As with all establishments in the village, parking is the toughest part.
XIBEI Eatery specializes in northwestern Chinese cuisine, and every dish we tried delivered. The beef short rib oil splashed hand-pulled noodles were the standout: deeply flavorful, incredibly toothsome, and generous enough to share. We also devoured the mapo tofu rice bowl, uni & shrimp shumai, beef & onion shumai, and steaming baskets of xiao long bao. We ordered extra shumai and xiao long bao to take home because we already knew we'd be craving them later. Super cute inside too, and great service!
Wanted to try this new fast food spot in Westwood. We ordered the beef short rib oil splashed hand pulled noodles, which is supposed to be their number one special and also the raised spicy chicken rice bowl. We waited a while for the short rib noodles and I believe they forgot about it so it took a while to get. But it was actually really good and flavorful. I really liked it. It's a pretty casual environment, so not fancy at all, but the food is pretty solid
Amazing good! good handpulled noodles, beef short rib, popcorn chicken, butter noodles on beef sauce. I highly recommend checking them out for their authentic food and best hand pulled noodles you can get around LA. It's got a kick and their chili oil is top notch!
I had an amazing time at Xibei. Obviously the parking here sucks because you will have to pay for parking somehow. But the food was delicious. I got the special beef rib with handmade noodles. The portion was so big I ate the noodles again for the next 3 meals. The beef rib size varies tremendously though. If you're lucky, you have large rib, if not you have a tiny one like my husband did. The noodles are chewy and still taste good after reheating and left in the fridge for several days. 5/5 The osmanthus sweet rice was interesting. I never had these before but my friend said it is very nice as palate cleanser. 5/5 The popcorn chicken was good but not too extraordinary. It was crispy. 5/5 The beef dumplings were juicy even though they're not soup dumplings. 5/5 Price is rather high for several of these items but overall quality is great. I do need my water refilled more often though. I'm excited to come back more time.
So happy to find a Xibei in the neighborhood. We use to go regularly when we lived in Beijing. It's North Western Chinese cuisine, which is noodle and meat heavy. The food here is very legit just like how I remembered it. Portions are smaller so can be enjoyed by one or two people instead of family size portion. They are known for their beef ribs and Chinese pork hamburger aka roujiamou. Fast and friendly service in a new and clean environment. Give it a try if you want to experience authentic North Western Chinese food.
We really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the food was disappointing. The beef noodles had a very shallow, bland flavor, and the stir fried lettuce was completely lacking seasoning. Even more concerning, one of the beef dumplings was undercooked/raw. The only positive was the service. The staff were genuinely friendly, and the manager made an effort to make things right by offering us dessert, which we appreciated. However, good service couldn't make up for the poor quality of the food. Sadly, the meal just wasn't good, and we wouldn't return based on this experience.
Taking place at UCLA's busy food alley sitting alongside with plenty other eateries. Decent dine in spot for small to medium group. Their signature was the very wide hand pulled noodles, coming with different kinds of proteins. It didn't turn out as spicy as it looked, which for me was actually better. We got the minced pork one and really loved it. Huge portion with perfect noodle texture and generously topped with flavorful chunky minced pork. I did add extra chili oil provided on the table and paired it to the Xiao Long Bao. My highlight was more the noodles than the XLB as I wished them having more broth inside.
Always walked by this place so I finally decided to try it and was pleasantly surprised! Ordered their signature hand pulled noodles which were SUPER long and perfectly chewy with meat that's fall off the bone tender (literally). Staff was very friendly and the space was super spacious, nice, and clean. Prices were fair, would like to come back!

Very lackluster experience, they seem to be in soft opening still and figuring out smoother operations but that wasn't a big problem. The employees are still very kind and attentive Food however felt a little overpriced, the portions seemed huge but it was really just the excessively large bowl (at least for the handpulled noodles). Xiao long bao had a lot of soup but skin was a little thick, cucumber salad was really mild in flavor, chicken handpulled noodles were pretty dense and every so slightly undercooked but I likes the flavor of the sauce. I just think maybe there was just a tad too much chili powder and/or it wasn't mixed in properly because mine had layers of dry powder on it I would come back though to try the butter noodles and rice options, maybe it was a one off experience
I had high expectations and was excited to see an authentic regional chinese cuisine come to Westwood, but alas no; watered down for the Westside community as usual. The flavors of the sauce was meh and the noodles were over cooked. The dumbing were cute but the flavor of the meat was weird. The dumplings and house signature dish came to $35 for a very mediocre meal. I don't mind paying, I just hate bad food.
I was really craving some spicy noodz while my son and I were waiting around the UCLA Medical building. He wanted in n out but I wanted spicy Asian food and this time I wasn't going to give in! So, we went to in n out first where he got his burger fix, then we went to Xibei around the corner. There are a couple others that have sprung up in the last few years so I still need to go and check out the competition but at least for Xibei, I picked it because it looked like I could get a good meal in a bowl, was not fussy, and they have a good layout with awesome AC. Their bathroom was clean, too. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. I asked about allergens in case my son wanted to try. What I ordered (minced pork oil splashed noods) was egg and dairy and nut free. The noods were too spicy for my son and perfect for me. So delicious!

Absolutely could not miss this place that recently opened. I had something similar to this while abroad and was reminiscing this dish. Beef short rib oil splashed hand pulled noodles: I got the beef short rib oil splashed hand pulled noodles and it was delicious! I really enjoyed it. Although it looked packed with peppers and chillis, it was not too spicy for someone who was a pretty low spice tolerance. The dish was served with a whole beef short rib, bok choy, bean sprouts, and hand pulled noodles. I personally loved the noodles, you can tell that it was homemade and hand pulled by how chewy and bouncy the texture was. I love how they provided me with a pair of scissors to dissect the beef. The flavors could also be tailored with the soy sauce, vinegar, and chilli oil on the side. Beef brisket & Tomato rice bowl: We also got the beef brisket and tomato rice bowl. This was also a solid option. Although I'm personally not the biggest fan of tomatoes, they did a good job of making sure the tomato flavor was not overpowering. I also liked how they added more protein with the chickpeas. It was a flavorful tangy, sweet, and savory dish. Service: The staff were so helpful. We were debating on what to get and they provided helpful suggestions. They were also really attentive and made sure to check up on us pretty frequently. Vibes: The restaurant was really spacious and had a lot of tables. I loved the nice ambiance because it was really clean and the lights were bright. Parking: Theres plenty of parking structures around Westwood. There is also street parking but that can be quite competitive at times. Many of the park spaces whether it's the street or at a parking structure will cost money so do make sure to look at the signs around the area. The meal itself came out to around $20 which is pretty standard for a college town in LA. The meal was also nice and filling. You really can't miss it! read more

Pleasantly surprised by this spot in Westwood! Order at the counter and sit anywhere you want. Food is brought out at a reasonable pace. The short rib noodle was definitely my favorite and I'd order it again- the meat was really tender and the noodle texture was perfection. Not too spicy or salty, very comforting! The braised pork belly was just ok, kind of pricy for what it is and I wouldn't necessarily get it again. The pork burger 肉夹馍 was also ok, definitely needed some more flavor or seasoning so added chili oil which was helpful. Would come back just for noodles! read more

Great experience coming here and enjoying the food. Looks like they're new still and are fully up and running now, service was great and attentive. They do accept card/tap to pay. Noodles are heavy! That feeling of freshly made and I loved it! This was the noodles splashed in chili oil, I got just noodles only because I also ordered a lil treat. Noodles can be shared. Definitely will be returning, great ambiance. read more

New kid on the block in Westwood! Came here two times across two weeks, after being disappointed that they ran out of hand-pulled noodles the first time I was there. Overall, good vibes but bland and oily food. Scallion Pancake (2/5): Starting with the appetizer, the pancake was dry and flaky, and the taste was pretty bland. I prefer my scallion pancakes oily and flavorful. Butter Garlic Noodles with Beef Sauce (3/5): The noodles were alright, but I wish they added more beef sauce since the noodles tasted pretty bland without the sauce, and there was definitely not enough sauce to cover the entire dish. Beef Short Rib Oil Splashed Hand Pulled Noodle (3/5): The following week I was really excited to try the signature oil splashed hand pulled noodles, but I was left disappointed after trying them. The noodles, while hand-pulled, stuck together in clumps of two for the most part. The sauce for the most part was all oil and spiciness, and since the noodles were so thick and don't absorb flavor as well as thin noodles, left me feeling like I was just consuming spicy oil for the most part. The saving grace was the beef short rib which was well cooked and falling off the bone. Overall, mid food but I expect them to still have ok business in Westwood where the options for Chinese food are slim. Elsewhere, they probably wouldn't survive long. I personally wouldn't be back unless my friends really wanted to go again. read more

Food is mid. Dumpling is not memorable. The brisket with tomato, rice and bokchoy. The meat taste like another Asian food caldereta but lighter version. The rice though is something else. We don't know if it's supposed to be cooked that way or it's somehow not cooked properly. It's like a sticky rice with grainy texture, a little off putting. Thee spicy chicken is a little too spicy that you can't enjoy it because you have to drink water after each bite. The pork belly over rice with sauce that taste of star anise is a hit. Really good. Mine is spicy noodle , it's quite good . The only comment I had is that difficult to eat with chopsticks because the noodle is like a lasagna noodle and quite long. We are done and my order for scallion pancake never arrive. Reminded the server and he was very apologetic about it. The place is good, small but modern. 3.0 is the score for now. great northwest authentic chinese food! must try the short rib oil noodle, shrimp uni shumai, millet sticky rice dessert, and mango coconut smoothie (heytea mango boom dupe). classics are also the xlb, smashed cucumber, and any of the braised rice dishes. personally i love the braised chicken! prices are fair and its a great alternative to din tai fung (always a wait). plus, they have unique drinks/desserts not offered there! read more
I have never seen UNI dumplings before and they might be my new favorite thing ever this place really surprised me, everything was not only comforting but SO GOOD! Service was amazing the servers were very attentive and kind to us, this place is new they haven't been opened for long but the parking in this location is limited but we parked at a lot in the area. Newer restaurant in the Westwood area, the inside decor was very modern and AC was very strong which is great for summer right around the corner. Staff was very friendly and attentive which I appreciated. I ordered the short rib hand pulled noodles which I found a tad underwhelming tbh. The noodles were lacking in flavor I was expecting more, I had to add more chili oil for flavor and spice. As for the rib it was served on the colder side when I got my food which was a bummer. The xiao long bao were fine but they're a one and done thing imo. read more
The food at XIBEI Eatery was flavorful, and beautifully presented. I especially enjoyed the authentic Northern Chinese flavors that are not always easy to find elsewhere. The service was attentive and friendly, and the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and perfect for gathering with family and friends. Yay more noodles spots in Westwood! They had the hand pulled noodles which is what I've been hoping for. We tried the dry noodles hand pull and also the butter meat noodles. Both were different in flavors and different noodles. Also tried their pork appetizer which was really crispy, just didn't have any sauce to accompany it but we dined in so just use the chili oil and soy sauce. the hand pulled noodles were large and very long and pretty good, I only wish it was a more on the chewier side since I like it al dente. But the favor was great. The beef bone was pretty tasty but wasn't fall off the bone enough. Sauce was spicy and had a bit of numbing, I'm surprised they didn't ask for level of spice. The butter noodles were very slippery and buttery and the meat sauce was really good. It was different from what I thought. Service was fast and since they just opened, I think they were still figuring out a few things especially when we asked for more water and box to take leftovers. Ambiance is casual, since its in Westwood after all. Lots of seating and very clean inside. Can go with groups or solo too. Will definitely be back. I want to try some of their drinks as well. Will try the soup dishes next time for sure. Overall, recommend! read more
Brand new restaurant with some soft opening growing pains that should improve as they get more practice. Biggest wrinkle, no credit cards yet taken. Zelle or cash only. Second biggest wrinkle, my order was apparently entered twice and food showed up twice (!). Staff were friendly and tried to correct but food still showed twice... Beef rib noodle had some solid hand cut noodles, and a beef rib always makes for a fun presentation. Seasoning was heavy on garlic and not as much spice as you'd think. Shu mai clearly had some mishaps in the kitchen, skins on the thicker side. Finally, the cold cucumber, while elegantly cut, was not the most memorable. read more

This is a solid UCLA spot that is affordable and delicious. There's plenty of seating and it's super clean. We were seated promptly and ordered a ton of items to try. Here is what we got and what we ranked them: Passion fruit green tea: 10/10 Mango coconut milk smoothie: 1000/10 Golden berry juice- 7/10 (it was tart, which I liked but too tart for my hubby) Beef brisket noodles- 9/10- huge portion! Butter noodles with beef sauce- 10/10 Dan Dan noodles- 7/10 Scallion pancake: 6/10 Beef and onion shumai- 10/10 Shrimp, zucchini and egg shumai- 10/10 unique delicious combo Shrimp & uni shumai- 9/10- surprisingly delicious Cucumber salad- 8/10- very refreshing Overall, I think the spot was great for university students or anyone that lives in the area. XIBEI EATERY - UCLA is a unique northwestern Chinese cuisine restaurant! It is both a dine-in or delivery! It is healthy with rice bowls or noodles! It has nice drinks like boba smoothies or juices! I walked past this place last week after I had just eaten lunch next door at Big Bowl Malatang and was super full, but I looked at the menu posted outside anyway and have been thinking about how delicious those noodles looked all week. The only problem was I couldn't tell if they had any non-meat versions of the hand-pulled noodles. But after a week of these noodles appearing unbidden in my mimd, I resolved to order some today even if meant eating some meat-- I don't want to die without knowing what they taste like! So I ordered the classic oil noodles, figuring since meat wasn't mentioned maybe there wasn't much of it, when the very friendly person taking orders at the counter warned, "There's no meat in those. Is that OK?" "OK? That's perfect! I said. I thought I was going to have to eat meat if I want to try these noodles but I don't want it and I'm glad to hear they don't have it." The bowl of wide, chewy noodles that arrived was covered with the perfect amount of chili-garlic oil and garnished with soybean sprouts and tender, juicy leaves of baby bok choy. It was so good! I have no improvements to suggest or complaints. The interior is clean and fresh, with plenty of seating and it looks like if you sit in back instead of by the window like I did you can probably watch the noodles being made. I will definitely be back to try the dan dan noodles and to put the classic oil noodles in my regular lunch rotation. read more

I got the short rib hand-pulled noodles. They were a nice texture and a very mild spice which I enjoyed. The rib meat was awesome-- super tender and flavorful. I got the mango coconut slush as well-- I liked how it was lightly sweet. I also tried my friend's garlic noodles which were okay and pork rice which was also okay. Overall fine, nothing too crazy and just pretty solid. I don't think anything super stood out or I would crave and go out of my way to have again. read more

The place has plenty of seating and you order at the front before you take a seat. The service was quick. Shumai - my favorite 10/10. Juicy and good balanced flavor. Not too oily. Beef Oil Noodles - started off really impressive but it gets too flavorful over time, 8.5/10, I wish they give more vegetable Pork Rice - Also a really good dish, the pork oil definitely gives it a flavor, but I get sick of the oil at the end 8.8/10 read more
