Our waiter was funny, patient, and really helpful. He answered our questions, gave us recommendations, and even suggested one of his personal favorite rolls, which was a nice touch. I ordered the Dragon Roll and the King Dragon Roll, and both were excellent. The presentation was on point, and everything tasted fresh. The King Dragon Roll definitely has some heat--it had me reaching for a second soda--but it was worth it. Overall, I had a great experience. Good food, great service, and a comfortable atmosphere. I noticed they place your food in a bag and tie it for you at the top which does not give you a chance to inspect if you received everything because the bag is tied up. I told her what happened and she offered me store credit which I did not want. I wanted a refund. She the put the owner on the phone and he also offered me store credit to which I explained I did not want and I was not going to drive back because I live out of town. After our discussion the owner decided to give me a full refund for my food because he could not refund individual items. I was not looking for a full refund and explained to the owner I appreciate him taking care of his customers and standing by his business. The food looked really good! As you enter you are at the register, but if there is someone ordering you're all up in each others space lol. The service is friendly and quick. They offer a variety of paletas and snacks. I've never run into any situation where not speaking Spanish was an impediment. Things I find particularly worthwhile. Produce tends to be cheaper than most supermarkets. tomatoes, mangos and assorted fresh chiles are good values. In the fall, 'tunas' or cactus pears are available. Fresh foods - the grilled chicken is a favorite - a guilty pleasure for me is 'chicharron con carne' which is deep fried pork skin with a strip of meat attached, think a 6 inch pork rind with deep fried pork meat. Closest thing I've had to that is pork cracklins in Louisiana. Corn tortillas are freshly made. Store made mini tostadas, about 3 in in diameter are something I haven't seen around, which I prefer to the normal sized tostadas. Also, Sonoran style flour tortillas brought in from Phoenix ...so much better than the machine made flour tortillas. Common in AZ, this is the only place I've seen them in Kern County. 'Telera' bread, which is used for Mexican style sandwiches aka tortas, grab a few. This is the closest I've found to the Caribbean style soft loaves to make Cuban pressed sandwich and paninis. A individual serving of tres leches cake - not overly sweet - also tops it off.

Youre going to an older bakery(been around since the 80s and the building probably hasnt changed much) where they know how to bake the tried and true Filipino desserts and breads without gimmicks or trends, and because they keep interior/exterior basic they can keep the prices down.
