This is a very local Hong Kong style breakfast/brunch (hidden) spot that's been tucked away on the corner and it is a Chinatown stables for a really long time. Also, they are very ethical, the local newspaper had it that every summer/winter the boss closes the restaurant for a month and gives their employees a month off. They do the most authentic HK styled rice noodles, fried rice, macaroni, and spaghetti, which were a fusion because of the long history of British colony. The HK milk tea is another one of those most authentic cup that you can get in NYC. They are generally really fast with their service and the prices have been very reasonable for years. So much love for this local business and I hope they'll be here for many more years to come.

The chicken leg I got today was very tasty and was cut into 3 parts with rice and cooked cabbage. The chicken was tender and juicy. It was barbecued and somewhat sweet. It came with soy sauce and hot chili sauce with chili flakes. I kept using the hot sauce because it was so addicting. It made the chicken so good! The place itself is really small with high bar seats that can seat 2 people on one side of the restaurant. There's also a bench by the entrance for people to sit and wait for their orders. Other than that it is not really convenient for large groups. It's best if you grab your to go. There's a self kiosk to place your order. There's also a convenience fee if you use your credit card.

Just head straight to the counter and you'll be greeted warmly by an auntie who will take your order. Don't underestimate this place! I got the roast pork over rice with char siu, siu yuk, and a fried egg, and it hit the spot exactly like I wanted. The char siu is the sweet, savory, BBQ-style roast pork with that nice caramelized flavor, while siu yuk is the roast pork with the glorious crispy skin. And that siu yuk skin here? CRUNCHY. Crackly, salty, and crispy while the pork underneath stays tender and flavorful. That contrast is everything. Then there's the fried egg, which is an extra request and absolutely worth it. You get those crispy, lacy edges, while the yolk stays beautifully runny. We got duck, char siu, and ginger scallion chicken. The ginger scallion chicken was my favorite! It was so soft, and the flavor was just amazing. The duck was also good, and I really enjoyed the skin. Since it was my first time, I had a bit of trouble chewing on the bones, but I would definitely eat it again. I'm also curious to try it in a bun (like the white bun and they make it like a taco, Idk if this place does that but I just wanted to speak outloud) The char siu was a little hard, but it was sweet and delicious.

Bless the workers but it does take them a bit to pull together your orders, especially if you're doing takeout. I saw at least 1 person roll up and then leave after seeing the line. Foodwise, I love the rustic options for both food and soup. There are some more esoteric choices that I am glad to see in a retail spot. Soups are flavorful without being salty. Might even be too subtle for most people but the HKer in me appreciates it. Prices are a little higher than I'd like but they're definitely serving some uncommon choices that remind me of home cooking so they get a pass. I'll be back to sample more of their offerings.

Wonder if they have the full menu on other days? It's a little hard to fulfill...soups simmered for an hour? Special black silkie chicken or turtle meat? I'd be really interested in trying these unique recipes - & not laboriously making them myself but wonder how much they move & how much would sit in their fridge. TCM is getting popular now (glowing skin soup, goji berries for eyesight, jujubes) & has similar natural values as African medicine. Someone was eating a homestyle meal & it looked great.
