    Not really sure how to rate this, because our last 24 hours visiting the Comcast Store in West Hartford, and subsequent encounters calling their Customer Service line and receiving a service call at our house was a mix of the highest highs and the lowest lows. Probably the fair thing to do is break it into segments. Segment One - The Comcast Store Décor 5 stars The store is flipping gorgeous. If someone walked you in blindfolded and then took off that blindfold, you'd think you were in an Apple or a Verizon store. Sleek, shiny, gorgeous. Segment Two -The Comcast Store- Customer Service 3 stars This is a tough call because so much of our visit was a 5 star experience but it quickly devolved into a zero star experience. We went to the store for two reasons -a) return a converter box we no longer needed, and 2) drop HBO or do something to reduce our monthly bill. We signed in (just like you do at Verizon and Apple) and were soon called by Ashley who was super nice and offered us a much better choice of channels and services for a reduced cost. We needed new converter boxes and she said it was easy-peasy to install them ourselves. So we left with a shopping bag full of new converters and remotes, and visions of watching Sunday football with our new and improved TV service. This is where our Comcast experience plummeted. Segment Three - Ease of Technology - 2 stars When we got home, before we even opened up the shopping bag, we turned on the TV and saw that we had no signal on any TV. The error message said something like "No device connected". We had no idea that our sales order would have resulted in the immediate disabling of our old converter boxes and televisions. Well, no worries (right?) because Ashley said the converter replacement was super easy.. I beg to differ- it wasn't....we had a lot of cables and wires (DVD player, Bose Surround System) and we couldn't get anything to work. The best we could do was get a black and white picture with no sound. Comcast Call Center -3.5 stars So now we called the Comcast Call Center. The rep was very polite and helpful, and unsuccessfully tried to walk us through the install. That didn't work either so we asked for a service call before the day was over. She said there were no slots available and the best she could do was the day after. Comcast Service Call - 5 stars A tech named Dan arrived as scheduled in the 2:00-4:00 window and hooked us up. He was polite and efficient. He replaced some of our older cables with newer versions. Bottom line is everything works great and looks great. The technology is stellar and we can even talk into our remote to change the channel !! So there you have it. I know that not having cable TV for a 24 hour period is just a First World Problem, but we have to say that we were pretty pissed about the TV not working, not being able to fix it, and not getting a service call on the same day. If I average all of the segments, I get a 3.7 that will be rounded to 4. But this easily could have been a 5 star experience. Now excuse me, while I go tell my remote to switch to the YES network.....

    No signage saying where to go once you enter the location. No one to help. I got a couple glances in my direction but I felt 100% left out and not welcomed. I stood there looking around for a while because I didn't know where to go. There's arrows on the floor pointing you towards the fast bill pay hub so i began following those, but realized my instinct was wrong. This location just needs a sign that says to go to the desk directly to the left of them. There's a sign about social distancing upon entering. Just replace that with a sign saying to go to the left and problem solved.

    We had DirecTV satellite service for several years, then switched to Dish a few years back for a…read more(slightly) lower subscription price. When Dish kept increasing our monthly fee, we decided to switch to DirecTV Stream. After I signed up for the "no-risk" trial of DirecTV Stream, I called Dish to cancel that overlapping service. At that point, Dish transferred me over to a customer retention specialist who made me an offer that we could not refuse. At that point, I signed up with Dish, then called DirecTV to bail out of their service. Good luck! I was beyond their 14-day trial and could not cancel without paying them for the entire 2 year contract. They were holding me hostage. I then called Dish to explain the situation to them and to cancel that service that we had just ordered the day before, and THEY also tried to hold me hostage and expected me to pay for an entire 2 year contact. After threatening Dish with legal action and reminding them that the contract could be revoked within 3 business days, they caved in. So now we are stuck with DirecTV Stream for 2 years. It came with the one Gemini device and remote. We have two TVs, and I was not willing to pay them to lease another remote, so I bought two more online. We have had frequent and recurring problems, where we are watching recorded programming and where an error message suddenly pops up, saying that it has lost our Internet connection (which is total nonsense). The only way to escape this when it happens (error code 10007-013) is for me to restart the device. I had to do this yesterday and again today. So much for "streaming". I called DirecTV when this occurred today, and their technical support was totally useless. She wanted me to reboot my Starlink modem, which is working fine with a dozen other devices in our house, including the other TV. I have also had issues where I have had to totally reprogram one of the Gemini remotes after it kept freezing up. Waiting for this contract to end is worse than waiting for the next election cycle.

    Be very careful when they try to sign you up with incentives! I was supposed to get a free…read moreAmazon.com gift card. Now they are asking me what the code was from a month ago. Who remembers the code after everything was all set up! So I signed on with Dish and Frontier wireless in order to receive the gift card. I'm am actually on the phone trying to get my free gift card. The wait time on hold is ridiculous and you cannot cancel for two years or you pay a large fee!! I say if they record your conversation then listen to it because then they will get the code and the rep telling me all about my free gift card. I smell fraudulence and it stinks!!! They are now telling me it will take 2 to 4 weeks, I'll let you know? Still didn't get the gift card!!! Thank goodness I didn't get the gift card because then you couldn't cancel!! I changed service which was tough to do! They were pushy and rude! Not using your service anymore!

I have done everything as requested to fix this receiver via their phone reps and online help. I'm at the point now where I told them I Do Not work for Dish and should not have to fix their equipment !! I have asked for service and for the receiver to be replaced! Apparently my request is not acceptable! They have refused saying I should "troubleshoot" the receiver as instructed! How Many Times must I do this??? Now this company has the unmitigated gaul to say they will (one time only) send me another receiver for Me to Hook Up and if that wasn't the problem they are absolved from any further responsibilities regarding this matter. In my opinion Dish Network needs to immediately revamp their service before even more customers leave their network.

    Roger did an excellent job with a Starlink internet installation in Outer Cape Cod. Previously, the…read moreonly Internet option available was DSL. It would have cost $70,000 per mile to expand fiberoptic cable to the home. Other local satellite companies said it wouldn't be possible to have the necessary line-of-sight to their satellites. Starlink was our last hope. The job was complicated by the fact that we were coordinating the logistics from 500 miles away. The location of the install was challenging - a fairly remote, sparsely populated location with significant tree canopy. Roger helped the whole way through - from guiding us to purchase the proper equipment from Starlink, speaking with an arborist to help us with tree cover issues, and explaining his approach as he performed the work. He used a 5 ft. tripod and an additional 10 ft. pole to mount the Starlink dish on the roof. That gave it enough clearance from the tree canopy to pull in a strong signal. Internet speeds were as fast as 260 Mbps down and 30 Mbps up. This compared to 4 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up with DSL previously. Needless to say, we're quite pleased with this result. Roger is clearly an expert at his craft. He's been in business for 46 years. He also has a great work ethic. He spent a significant amount of time on the roof in 95-degree heat. He didn't stop until the job was done. The cable run into the home was efficient, and he cleaned up impeccably after his work. And he's a nice guy to boot. Worth every penny!
