I just moved and ComunistCast was the only cable company available.
My Facts:
1. I was paying $100 for 200 channels through Uverse. I had Internet, HD, DVR, and three boxes. I could record on 1 box, and play it throughout the whole house.
2. Comcast is $40 more expensive, I only have 150 Channels, and only two boxes. DVR's are separate, so I can't watch them in all rooms.
My Story:
I called to price them out. I spoke with some guy who told be about the programs. I asked about installation fees and competitive pricing since I was paying more to go to them than I was from AT&T. He gave me a confirmation number and transferred me to installation. I asked why since I hadn't purchased anything, he said "Just so they can reference my notes". He transferred me. I gave the rep my conf#. She said "Oh, looks like you got the triple play with HD." I said I had not and didn't even need a home phone (included in the triple play, and something we never even discussed). I said that Comcast was too expensive compared to AT&T and was looking to see if they could match my price. She said she was having "system issues" and I would have to call back at another time. At this point, I had already spent over an hour on the phone.
I called back immediately and spoke with another rep. I gave them my conf# again. He pulled up my address and said they don't offer service in my area. He said, sorry, there's nothing we can do.
I called back immediately and spoke with another rep. I gave them my conf# again. He said he couldn't locate that confirmation number. I went through the whole explanation again. Then I mentioned again that I was trying to see if they could match AT&T's price. She said she was also having "system issues", and couldn't help me with that, but would transfer me to a local office that could be more competitive with the prices. She transferred me.
I gave them my conf# again, and they said "That's too many digits. Our conf# are only 6 digits and you gave me 9." So I explained everything...again...They said that the price I was originally quoted was incorrect. Not in a good way, but they should have quoted me an additional $5 for a monthly modem fee. I asked what that was, and he stated it was so I could use their modem. I said "What if I had my own (which I did), could ya'll waive that?" He said no, because it has to be a Comcast modem.
So I hung up with him to call the original number back to ask WTF? Eventually, I spoke with a manager. I asked if I could fax him my last AT&T bill and they give me some sort of break on the price. He said, "I'm sorry, we don't do competitive pricing in that area." So he basically just said there's no way that we'll provide you will competitive services at a decent cost.
I was heated. Over 4 hours of my life were now gone.
But I came to the realization that I HAD to use them since they were the only ones who offered cable in my area. So I called back.
I gave them my conf#. We scheduled a date for installation for two days later. I insisted that they call me 30 minutes before they arrive.
Two days later I get a call from their dispatch. The tech was at the house. I said it would take me 10 minutes to get there, so tell him to wait. She said he couldn't wait because he had 3 other jobs to do before 5:00 (it was 2:00 at the time). I asked how long it would take for the tech to do the install. She said "We wont know that until he gets in your house and see's the wiring and stuff." I said, "Then how do you know that he doesn't have an extra 10 minutes to wait for me if you don't know how long the job will take." She, logically defeated, said she would call him. She called back and said he couldn't wait. I said, "Well can he come back after his other jobs are done?." She called him back and then called me. "No, Sir. That is the end of his shift." At this point, 10 minutes had already passed, and I could have been there. I wanted to reschedule, but she said she couldn't and I had to call another number.
I called that number and they said it would take 9 days before they could come back out. 9 freakin days! I said that was entirely too long and I needed to know if they could be there sooner. After all, they had scheduled my original install for just two days after I ordered service. She transferred me to somebody else because she was having "system issues." The person she transferred me to said it would be 13 days before somebody could be out! 13 freakin days! I explained that the previous lady told me it was only going to be 9, and they told me that she didn't have access to their schedule and didn't give me a correct date. After much argument, they came out in 3 days. The guy who installed my cable didn't know what an HDMI cable was.
Since then (45 days), my service has gone out 3 times. Every time I call they try to look it up but have "system issues". Comcast must also be their service provider as well. We've only received 2 bills so far, and they've both been wrong. read more
