Get a 'stylish' haircut for $30 is like getting a high end sports car off Kijiji... wouldn't recommend it. If you want some mindless, incoherent and often inappropriate banter whilst getting a mediocre haircut then this place is for you. Are you a young, white, 'frat boy' type of person then you'll be knee deep in douche-bag heaven. If you're middle aged and still holding onto the college years then wow, you hit the lotto and need to book an appointment now! The only redeeming quality of this place is 1 girl who works the front desk, green hair? Blue hair? It changes. She's very nice and pleasant. Aside from her, this place is a complete and utter disappointment. There's a female 'hair stylist' there who's blonde and works closest to the door. She's about as useful as tits on a bull. The kind of girl who think men should fall over her. She's a 7 MAX out of 10. read more

I used to go to Crows Nest to get my beard trimmed but the inconsistently made me look for a different place. A friend of mine told me about Man Cave and I have to say that I was extremely happy with the service I got. I was scheduled with Kenta and he took the time to understand what I wanted and asked questions. Also he didn't try to rush the cut in anyway, he took his time and make sure the right side lined up with the left side. The care that Kenta put into my trim, convinced me that this is going to be the place that I am going to go to from now on. The one negative is that they can be busy, so make sure that you book an appointment, even if you are just going to get a beard trim. read more

Great spot for people living in the Annex area of Toronto who don't want to break the bank on a haircut. A cut and style (with tip) is no more than $30. When I was living in this part of town as a student, it was my go-to spot and I never had a bad experience. That said, I never walked out feeling like George Clooney either. But, that's probably because I look nothing like George Clooney. It's a nice spot that goes beyond traditional barbering and provides more of a salon experience. For example, they wash your hair ahead of time. That might seem like a no-brainer, but a lot of barber shops don't. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great. No issues there. My one knock is that I never felt like the person cutting my hair was totally confident. At the time, I was wearing my hair short on the sides and long on top (SHOCKER!), and I always felt like he would do a great job fading the sides, but when it came to cutting the top it was a bit of a guessing game. read more

Would recommend The Mancave to anyone living in the annex that doesn't want to spend a fortune on a haircut. Having had the same hair dresser for 16 years, I decided to try The Mancave. I take my hair pretty seriously and have trust issues with new hairdressers, but Anthony was super knowledgeable and I got a great haircut. Will definitely come back. It was nice they were on time and offered me coffee. Nice venue and pleasant reception. Hairdresser was a bit out of it, didn't really greet me or even attempt conversation. I was really happy with my cut here. Lizz took the time to understand what style I was going for and checked in with me during the cut to make sure it was to my liking. She was confident and knew what she was doing and I ended up with a great cut. Having newly moved into the Annex, I'd been to a neighbouring hair stylist the month before and ended up with some sticker shock. My cut there was nearly twice the price and not nearly as good. Am taking one star off because I had to wait 15mins past my appointment time to get my hair cut. read more

Comes with a drink! One day i'll indulge with the 007 treatment which sounds amazing, but you can't go wrong with the stock cut. Ive been getting my hair cut here for about 5 years now. The service is good. Can get pricey. It's a little over $37 including tax for a haircut plus tip. The location is easy to get to, a short walk from Bathurst subway station. Clean place with good customer service. The thing I like best is that you can book or change an appointment from the app or website. They also offer a range of other services. Free drinks are offered also. I decided to go to ManCave on a whim. I walked in without an appointment and asked for a shave and a haircut (there called The 007-Penny). The hostess was pleasant and was able to find me a time that day an hour from when I walked in. During my wait, I was offered complementary water/coffee/espresso/cappuccino, which was an amazing experience to have at a barber. I was walked to the shampoo station, where I was introduced to the barber. He didn't speak english, and so we didn't speak to one another, but I feel this was uncharacteristic of the shop, as other patrons stuck up a conversation with their barber. I believe I was to receive an arm and scalp massage before my cut ( as my friend had ordered a haircut at the same time as me) but did not receive one at this time. Merely a shampoo, which smelled like tea tree. I found the scent pleasant, and the shampoo very relaxing. I was then sent to the chair for my haircut. I gave the barber little instruction, and he seemed to know exactly what I meant from my current hairstyle and my instruction. He worked quickly and my hair looked very good. I highly recommend ManCave for a style and cut. The shave was less than pleasant. The barber placed several hot towels on my face, as is custom, but the harsh lighting and club-like music did not provide a relaxing atmosphere. After two hot towels (which the barber knew exactly when to replace), the barber lathered my face and began the shave. His technique was terrible. He seemed to cut every-which-way instead of with the grain. This left me bloody, irritated, and very embarrassed as my face was sore and red thereafter. The barber tried his best to clean me up, with warm towel after cold towel, but it was clear there was no salvaging the shave. He finished leaving my face sore, and had missed several spots. He styled my hair, and sent me to a scalp and arm massage, which seemed backwards as my hair was shampooed again. The massage was wonderful, but I couldn't fully relax from the terrible shave. The process called for a hot towel and facial cleanser, which I didn't receive because of my irritated face. My hands were dipped in paraffin wax before the massage, and the wax was slowly peeled off during the massage. This felt extremely soothing. I was once more sent to the barber for a styling, and was left to checkout. The manager clearly saw the shave was less than ideal, and asked about my experience with shaving with a straight razor. They acknowledged the terrible technique, apologized, and comped the shave. The shave cost me about $40, an so that was a generous offer, but did not completely rectify the situation. I left the store bloody, with a choppy shave. All night my face was irritated and red from the terrible technique. Had it not been for this less than desirable shave, I would give ManCave a full 5 stars. Excellent service, with an upbeat atmosphere. But it seems that 10,000 hours with a straight razor was not enough for my barber, and this is simply unforgivable. Faces are fragile, and the first thing a stranger sees, and leaving me bloody and irritated was not professional at all. I would have rather he told me he could not shave me, and let me go home and do it myself. read more

My boyfriend recently visited this barber considering this place has such positive reviews. Shannon cut his hair and it has to be the worst haircut he has ever gotten. He asked for a simple trim and came out looking practically bald with an island on top. His hair is so bad he's embarrassed to walk around with it. Went for beard trim - actually it was really good. Simple, fast, it cost about $15... I guess for some that sounds a lot for a beard trim, but the stylist, Olivia, did it way better than I've ever done it myself. I am certainly a new fan and will definitely go back - at first it seemed a bit pricey to me, but they made me a cappuccino from a proper barrista machine while I was waiting, so overall the value was good... saved me $4 later! I booked an appointment online and had to sign up through a 3rd party booking company and reveal more info than I'd like to have done. However, on the plus side, the appointment worked, I barely had to wait at all, and the booking service even texted me twice that morning to remind me to turn up. Not overly impressed this time. Went when ManCave first opened (on north side) & treated myself to the "007" package (), but this time a simple cut was NOT SIMPLE. Okay, I've a double-crown/cowlick combo, but that's NOT that rare. I'd figure it'd be standard training, but all I'm finding is that only the "traditional" barbers have any ability to cope&cut. After a quick interview Javier started to cut my hair the man was excellent really professional, and very experienced. This barber lounge is amazing! I recently move to Toronto and wanted to find a good place where I could get a hair cut. I found this place by relaying onto the positive reviews I have found on Yelp! I had two appointments with Evelin. She is the best! Evelin has done such an amazing work that a couple of my colleagues even asked me where I got my hair cut from. She has a good sense of humor, knows a lot about business and many other topics! So our conversation was quite interesting and not boring as it is often in barber lounges. I would certainly recommend this place. Since I only had appointments with Evelin, I don't know how the other are, but I know for sure that Evelin is the best! read more

As a woman I was a bit hesitant to go to a place called ManCave Barbers Lounge, but I wasn't up for paying $80 for a trim so I tried it out. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Both the front desk person and my stylist made me feel very comfortable. The cut itself was quick and easy, just a little off of the back. I paid for a "clean up", which came to $15 with tax and tip, and I was in and out within 15 minutes. Pretty amazing experience for me and my credit card compared to what usually happens when I go to get a trim. My only qualm with this place is that they were playing the most inappropriate-for-loud-public-consumption rap music I have heard anywhere, ever (e.g., Kottonmouth Kings Freaks of the Industry - look it up - wtf?!). Kind of hard to keep a straight face while talking to my stylist with this music playing in the background. I really cannot believe that any of the people I interacted with are actually into this music, so I can only imagine that it's part of the urban vibe they're trying so hard (too hard?) to create, but I don't think this particular music is what's in order, particularly for a place that also offers cuts for kids. There is much, much, much cooler old school rap and hip hop that is not aggressively offensive. Just my two cents, but otherwise it was great and I'll be back. read more

I've heard the addage that it's usually better to trust an older barber because they'll have the patience and experience to give you a good cut. After today I think I'm going to stick to that rule. The cut here wasn't bad... but it just wasn't anything amazing. The young man who did my hair didn't finish off the cut with a razor like every other place I've been to. No product offered either. Cheapest thing you can get is a wash and cut and that is $30 after tax. That to me is not cheap! $25 after tax I might have been ok with. I don't think I'll come back here at that price though. read more

First timer at ManCave. You walk in to a very friendly and homely place, they greet you, and offer complementary drinks. They really listen to what it is you want done and pull it off flawlessly. Great experience and very fresh cut. Most definitely will be returning. (Aside from the parking ticket I received that day) All in all great place to get a fresh cut for men.
