I loved that he kept checking in and he was very attentive. Fun conversations too! The only downside: He didn't wash our hair but he was brushing and wiping it a lot and said he was done after styling, so I left even though I was a bit skeptical, and we noticed at night that there were still quite a few pieces of loose hair on my shirt when we went out for dinner and quite a bit of it in my ear, so I wish I can get my hair washed next time. read more

I had bad experience at Manstop the other day but the owner corrected it for me. The barber did not take the time to understand what I wanted done with my hair, was angry with me, and cut my neck in several places. However, I was contacted by the owner who refunded me my money, offered me a complimentary haircut, and was very understanding. Anthony is a great barber who genuinely cares about making you look good and will stop at nothing on his journey to master his craft. He has an arsenal of tools and knows when to use each of them to get the look that you want. I can tell from the way he cuts hair that he is knowledgeable and confident in what he does. He is also the most honest barber you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. The shop also has chill music and a nice comfortable vibe. Their pricing is average but everyone at the man stop goes above and beyond service-wise. I definitely recommend Anthony and I am happy to say I've found my barber. I been to this place twice, first time was okay, the haircut was subpar but at least the service was good. I booked an appointment with Hannah for the first time, not sure if she is just having a bad day but she just looked pissed throughout, did not speak a single word and just said done when she finished, never bothered to show me how my hair looked from the back, and never asked if she is even cutting the length correctly. $35 bucks is kinda the normal price for a subpar haircut in downtown core so their price is not outrageous, but if you want the same quality haircut with little to no service, then walk 15 min to Chinatown and get a cut for $15 or less. read more

My barber of two years recently quit and I've been searching for replacement. Sadly I did NOT find it here. While the haircut was great the beard work was lacking. I booked an appointment (and asked in person) for straight razor shave once beard was trimmed. All I got was electric clippers on neck with some straight razor on cheek and near angle of jaw. My moustache was completely looked over. It's twice as long as beard once all said and done. It wasn't trimmed at all. I did it myself when I got home. It's a trendy place so I guess that's why it's highly reviewed but I'd rather a hole in the ground if they did my beard perfectly. Looks like I need to keep looking for my new barber. read more

This was my first experience at ManStop. I booked my appointment online. One of the easiest online appointment I've booked in a while. The shop was immaculate, everything seemed to have its place and was always kept in order. My Barber (Tin) was ready when I walked in, she even knew my name! Tin had an ease to her approach. Made me feel quite comfortable. I was able to close my eyes and take it all in. She took her time and not only gave me one of the best fades I've ever gotten! Had the unfortunate pleasure of finding this place on my yelp. Manstop was about 10 mins walk from my home and yelp said they only do appointments and No walk-ins; so I fill out the appointment form and everything looks good. So, I walk in the snow 10 mins and find the place and I'm punctual on time. All the barbers are busy and they say please have a seat. I'm waiting 15 mins and then one guy is like I will be with you in a minute and I'm like okay let's get over with it. Suddenly, I see a printout hanging on the wall "Only cash or debit". I don't like to carry cash and never carry my debit cards I just carry my credit card. But I can add my debit card to Apple Pay. So, I ask the guy if they have a tap on the payment machine. He is like NO. Then, I ask him does your website or yelp or your appointment confirmation email says "Only cash or debit"? And then they ask around and check the website. NOPS, this rule is only implemented by a printout on the wall. At this point, I was already pissed having walked in the snow to get a haircut and they can't do it. I'm waiting for them to say something to try to retain my business, he is like there is Scotiabank in front. Instead of offering to cut my hair and take the money next time or tomo or something. Found Manstop here on Yelp and decided to give it a go. Booking online - simple, efficient and effective. Little bit harder to find (thanks Apple Maps!) but once I realized it was on the EAST side of Duncan, the barber pole outside totally showed me where Apple was wrong. Tin was outstanding - went for a buzz and a beard trim and I couldn't have been happier with her work, the result I'm THRILLED with. I'll definitely be back and would recommend them highly. Showed the barber the pic of what I wanted but she could not follow it...I showed her and it was good at first but then she told me she thought what i was having is different than the pic and I thought she was more experienced and followed her thoughts but it looked really bad...too narrow on top and too wide at bottom and she refuse to fix it so I had to go to another place to fix it..
