I haven't had my haircut cut in a foreign country before. I was impressed with the level of service received at my recent walk-in to this establishment. Turner, I thought provided an excellent level of service. He also provided some of his favorite restaurants as recommendations. I like the hot towel experience on the nape of the neck with a straight razor as something new to me. There was a lot of banter going on with other clients. A real friendly atmosphere. read more

Town Barber - Barbers Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

This review is actually for the Queen Street West location. While visiting Toronto, on a whim I decided to get my haircut. I found Town Barber and walked in without an appointment. It was amazing. Dexter immediately understood (despite my clumsy explanation) what I was looking for. He gave me a fantastic haircut, plus some easy and helpful grooming tips. The vibe in the shop was just what you'd want on a sunny afternoon. read more

The Town Barber is a trendy cool new barbershop east of Dundas and Ossington. The decor is retro-cool with a waiting area that has bar stools and a couch for folks to chill while they wait. The owner is Chris and he is uber friendly; he loves to make his customers comfortable. The place is new to this location, only a month old. Haircuts are $25 with tax included. It's the perfect stop for your hair, beard, and moustache trimming needs! Music and ambiance is modern-hipster-country style. Almost with they served drinks at their counter at the back. Pro tip: book your appointment online at http://townbarber.ca/ You may have to book a week in advance but they're worth the wait! Cool fact 1: Chris' fiancé is the owner of the wedding cake shop that's nearby. Cool fact 2: They have an old-school cash register that rings; and it's functional! Cool fact 3: They have an in-house dog. read more

My hair is difficult. It's thin and hard to work with. Everywhere I go, there's been a sea of mediocre haircuts... Until now. Town barber is the real deal. Kiwi Dan and David are my usual barbers and both do a fantastic job and even clean up my straggly beard at times. You can even book a time ahead through their site. No more waiting! So if you have hair, either on your head or chin, come in for a cut. You won't be disappointed. read more

Town Barber - Barbers Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

A great barber shop with friendly service and at a price that makes sense. I have had multiple cuts from several different barbers here and everyone of them has been completely satisfying. Plus this place is really a part of the neighborhood scene, and as far as I know, predates a lot of the latest hipster-barbershop bloom. The new location on Queen is even closer to my place and most welcome. I am only recently part of the whole beardo trend and before I had a beard I had a pair of electric clippers at home and hadn't seen a barber for a decade. But somehow I need a professional when it comes to the beard and I don't mind having a finer tuned hair cut as well. I re-entered barber world while living in Jersey City and Manhattan, so I got to sample some pretty interesting places that offered some high-end skills at moderate prices. Standout were Virile in Jersey City and Ace of Cuts in the East Village. I was impressed by the level of skill and real dedication to the craft. Back in Montreal I was introduced to La Tete Dure which is a real find. Two chairs, two guys, amazing cuts and very reasonable price. So when I moved here last fall I knew what I was looking for in a barber. And after poking around a bit and seeing some fancy spots, and what hipsterism (and too much loose cash) can do to the barbering biz, I was extra happy to find Town Barber. They will have my business until I no longer have hair. read more

I went to the Queen West location and had a haircut and beard trim with the big boss Chris today. This was my first proper haircut in almost two years and I was super nervous about making such a big chop. Chris was SUPER chill and didn't make me feel rushed in the decision at all. He took his time to discuss a bunch of different options and what they might look like, and in the end I felt really confident in the decision. And he executed WELL. Great conversation too. I'm really happy and will be back for sure! read more

This shop is easy to book appointments online. I like their booking system because it can send emails to remind and put into my iCal Upon arrival appointments are honored on time and their pricing is fair. Rob squire is a solid barber and listens to his customers need. They also have a shop in west queen west and he has moved there for the time being. 5*/5 due to fair price, ease of booking and Rob is consistent in his job. Pace is also great as well. read more

They do a really good job, I would have given 4. but your experience depends on the barber you choose. don't go for Victor, he does a poor job. I.e my fade looks like I had walked out of the barber shop midway, that bad . read more

Over the years, I have found it hard to find a barber shop that does women's hair in the same fashion as a man might get. I get fades or shave it completely sometimes and I don't see why I should have to pay $60+ for such a quick and easy cut. Gender neutral pricing rocks. Hair is hair! Andy was not only extremely friendly, but very dexterous and could clearly and easily 'read' my hair. He keeps a very clean workspace. He detected my cowlicks and knew to buzz my faster growing areas shorter without any directive from me. Is he a mind reader? LOL Perhaps not, but he has solidified my business for the foreseeable future. :) read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this place! I have been to the site at Queen west, and the one on Dundas - both are fantastic. When I first visited, it was because I had a terrible cut elsewhere, and I needed to get it fixed. In short, the barber I had at the Queen site immediately knew the amateur mistakes my previous barber had done (wheel arching) and he fixed me up and made me look great! At Dundas, I had Sean, who was an awesome barber and great to talk to! I will definitely return and request him again. I definitely recommend this place to everyone. My experience was top notch, everyone is friendly (don't let the tattoos scare you) and it seems by the reviews that everyone else had a similarly positive experience. 5 stars! I wish I found these guys sooner!! read more

Wow! That's all I can say. I got a great cut, at a great price, and had some pretty rad company. The place smells great and is really chill. If you're a woman or trans* folk looking for a classic barber cut and are tired of being turned away from other barber shops, this is the place to be! The owner and I had a whole conversation about being a friendly and inclusive space. Yes, read trans* and women inclusive/friendly barber shop! I don't think I've ever looked so good. Thanks Chris! read more

Great establishment. Josh Moreau is very good at why he does. Detail oriented and the proper barber approach to service. He is a natural.

It was a very nice place and good atmosphere but they completely messed up my haircut. Wouldn't recommend

Visiting Toronto from London for a wedding so needed a good trim! The guys at Town Barber are super nice and Justin gave me a great cut, exactly what I wanted and was a very nice dude so good experience all in all. Would totally recommend. read more

I walked away. Today I walked in this barber shop and the guy at the front told me that there is a 25 min wait which is cool! so I asked him if I could come back in 20 min and he said yeah no problem... when I came back to get my haircut he said I gotta wait another 25 min giving me bad attitude... would be nice if this guy had consideration for other people's time. read more

I don't even write Yelp reviews, but I'm making an exception because Chris, owner of Town Barber, is that rare dude who is loyal to his customers, and I don't know where else to put this story. I've been getting my fades done by Chris since he was an apprentice barber at Crow's Nest, charging only $15 a cut. Probably since 2010. I used to get my hair cut once a week, cause I like to stay looking fresh. So Chris has cut my hair literally hundreds of times. Every haircut has been exacting and perfect, he genuinely takes the time to ensure it's so. I'll think I'm done and be trying to get up, and he'll be touching up this side and that part, grabbing his clippers to fix some tiny imperfection no one else would ever have noticed. The guy genuinely cares about his craft, and it shows in his work. More importantly than that, he's a stand up, humble guy. After ending his apprenticeship at Crow's Nest, and moving to a full barber, charging full barber prices, he kept me at the original price, for YEARS after. He refused to change the price I paid, and even when I offered he wouldn't accept more money. A lot of business owners are "customer service" friendly, like on the surface, but Chris actually backs it up. He understands, just naturally as a facet of his personality, that long term customer relationships are more valuable than an extra $10 in his pocket today, which is a rare trait. In 2012, I left Toronto and moved to California, then moved back two years later. I went to Crow's Nest, and found out Chris wasn't working there anymore and had opened up his own spot. So I went over there for a cut. During my first cut, I mentioned how I was looking for work. Chris referred me to a friend of his who was hiring, and gave me his email. I emailed him, we met up, and I've been working for his company for the past 7 months. So Chris helped me get a job. THEN as if that wasn't enough, when I told him I got the job, he told me I couldn't pay for my haircuts anymore because I was working for his friend's company. I don't even know if I should publicize this cause y'all will go in expecting to leave with jobs and free haircuts. I've referred everyone I know there. My nephew and brother in law now get their hair cut by Chris too, and that's a strong endorsement because my sister is serious about her son's haircuts. So if you're not getting your haircut at Town Barber, you should be. read more

My husband just received a terrible haircut at Town Barber's Dundas Street location. He showed photos of the cut he wanted and the barber turned his chair away from the mirror (he thought perhaps covid practice?) and completely destroyed his hair. It looks nothing like the photos he showed. It's hard to believe this person is qualified to cut anyone's hair. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Really happy to have found Town Barber. I was a regular at a well-regarded barber shop in Kensington Market, but it was getting too hard to snag an appointment because they're too busy. Town Barber was exactly what I was looking for. Laid back vibe, friendly staff, busy but not too busy, and--most importantly--terrific cuts. Kiwi Dan is my usual guy and he's never let me down. It somehow reminds me of a small-town barber shop. Regulars breeze in and out and are always greeted personally. There's usually a dog or two wandering around and conversation is always convivial. Things don't feel rushed and you're welcome to hang out at the coffee bar in the back. Round it off with a great lineup of men's hair and beardcare items and you've got a winning formula. I recommend them to everyone. read more

I like going to Town Barber... Friendly atmosphere ...great customer service. Booking online is easy but they are busy (depending on your barber) so better make an appointment than just walking in... Definitely my go to place when I have a special event and need to look my best. read more

Amazing fades, chill vibes, a lil out of the way but at least theres free street parking around the area. Been here for years

Everybody at Town Barber is wicked. Great vibe, great conversations, and most importantly, great haircuts. There's no bullshit, no egos, just good people who give a shit about what they're doing. It's wicked. Now get off yelp and go get a damn haircut. read more

Got my haircut here once. Although it was a quality cut, the hairstyle wasn't exactly what I asked for. It seems like they only know how to cut hair in one specific way (which they do well if that's what you're looking for). The customer service is pretty poor, definitely not the most welcoming place. I sat in my chair the whole time while the barber was talking sh*%t to his two "buddy" barbers next to him. read more

Great cuts at a great price!!! KIWI DAN is the best!!! Cool saloon and great music while you get your cut. Make sure you bring cash as ot is cash only and dont forget to tip!! read more

Great haircut. First haircut in the city since I moved here. Booked online and it was with Madison Skye later that day. Haircut was perfect. Attention to detail and a nice hot straight razor shave to the back of the neck. Will be going back especially with the convenience of booking online. Madison was efficient and friendly. read more

Saw this new establishment across the street from where I live. I thought it looks nice from the outside so I thought I'd try it out. When I got there the woman who at the counter had such poor customer service I decided to leave without getting a hair cut. The establishment does look very nice and the barbers seem to do a great job but unfortunately because of that woman's attitude I will not be getting my hair cut from them. read more

I just moved to the neighbourhood in December and had been travelling all the way to the east end of the city to get a haircut. I loved the place I went to, but 40 minutes there and back every 2 weeks was not fun. The actual establishment is spacious, with a relaxed, easy going, friendly atmosphere. I told the guy what I wanted, and he delivered. I will be returning for another haircut in the next two weeks. read more

Was a little wary about getting my haircut during my short visit to Toronto, but Town Barber did not disappoint. Had a great experience with Jenalle who checked in multiple times during the haircut to make sure everything was looking the way that I wanted. (Also, thanks for the taco rec if you ever read this Jenalle). read more

Went to Kiwi Dave because I had seen a few of his fades walking around the west end and they were tight.Fade was good but scissor work was well below par,not to take from him this is just usually the story with barbers, either good with scissor or clipper but rarely both. Not being able to wash your hair there is a big draw back because it means you cannot do anything that day before going home and showering.Really nice guy and great little shop, just not the best and that is what Iook for. read more

The tattoos and punk music might throw you off, but Town Barber is the most welcoming and professional shop in TO. Dave has been my go-to for the past few months and I can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

Loved my experience there. Great cut and friendly service. Quick, inexpensive, awesome.

Neat shop inside Lost + Found on Oz. Chris is a chill dude who listens and does the right cut. He's pretty booked up most of the time so walk-ins are tough. Booking online is easy, though. Great atmosphere, affordable, and you can get a good espresso while you wait. It was a great time. read more

Super friendly and unpretentious spot for an excellent cut, at a reasonable price. The inside of this place has a great vibe, visually and from the music selection. My barber had good attention to detail and was very skilled. read more

First time here, had a great experience, and really liked the layout of the shop. I had Jordan cut my hair, really nice and friendly guy, highly recommend booking time with him. Also, bonus points for having some straight edge pride in the shop (as a straight edge guy myself). read more

I've been to a lot of barbers in Toronto looking for somewhere I feel comfortable. As soon as I walked in I was at home, the cut today was better than I've had in a long time and better than anywhere else I've tried. Richard took great care of me and beside the cut he trimmed my beard up for me and took care of everything else making sure I was happy throughout the process. I was happy that there is a stopgap ramp, my girlfriend is in a wheelchair and we try to support accessible spaces. I will be back for my next cut. read more

The shop was fantastic - reasonably priced, the shop was clean and the atmosphere was comfortable. It was like getting a cut from a friend while listening to good tunes. I will definitely go back and encourage other people to go as well. read more

Got my hair cut by Rob about a week ago. He did an amazing job and even had tips for me for next time. He trimmed my beard as well and it turned out to be exactly what I wanted. I highly recommend this place. You can book appointments online and don't have to wait 3 hours for someone who can't cut hair or do beards like some other spots in the neighbourhood! They're also reasonably priced! read more

UNBELIEVABLY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I can't report on the hair stylists, only the imbecile receptionist who threw away my appointment upon my arrival. I was stuck in traffic, they said I had 10 minutes after my appointment time until they handed it off to a walk-in. I called them again to tell them I was parking, they said "ok, but hurry", I run to their shop and they say "sorry, we gave your slot away". It was exactly 10 minutes after my appointment time, so they broke their own rule and disrespected a customer who had to travel by car to them. No respect or quality service. I gave them a heads up and had the courtesy to tell them of my lateness, told them I was nearby parking and was about to arrive, and they still threw my appointment away like chumps. You just don't do that. Bad business. So I never had my haircut with them and will never return to Town Barber. If you show up right on time and don't have to deal with their inept receptionist, then you may like it. But this says a lot about the way they run their business and it's a bad sign in the long run. People like that are not worth doing business with, even just for a haircut. read more

This was the best haircut I ever had. So good, I took pictures to show my next barber how I want it. I walked in randomly while traveling in Toronto, and had a great over all experience. More than I usually pay for a haircut. I forget the name of the barber I had. He was from New Zealand (might have been Jordan?) But he was lovely to chat with, nicely tatted, and was extremely talented. And I got a new little comb too! read more

Just had my hair cut at Town Barbers. Amazing place, very cool interior, old school chairs and most importantly, the owner Chris can cut hair. A lot of the new "old school" places often fall on that measure. Also friendly as hell. You don't need visible tattoos or skinny jeans to be treated well. read more

I just took my 2 year old boy to get a haircut. I wasn't sure how this would work out as he's pretty wiggly. But these guys are pros. With the little guy in my lap, it was pretty easy. Each of us got a smock + neck cover for him. The cut was pretty precise and exactly how I wanted it (very short). The barber used different clippers and scissors and was pretty patient with the little guy. I booked online, an hour before the appointment, $25, 30 minutes later. Good stuff! read more
