The show was awesome. The venue was small and intimate and he had a lot of crowd interaction. Took my entire family and my 9 and 12 year got to participate, and were highly entertained. Been to some magic shows that needed a lot of build up and a ton of props. Not this one. He packed a ton of different types of tricks in a small amount of time. The best part was the meet and greet. His assistant was or is a gymnast and took the time to talk to my daughter who is gymnastics as well. As for Xavier, the only reason it took "long" to get to him was the fact he was so genuine and personable. He spoke with each family and patron. Since we were the last one he sat and just talked to us for few minutes just find out more about the family. Simply awesome! read more

This show was excellent! We had an amazing time. We were in the second row, which was very close to Xavier, and we couldn't see how any of the magic was done. The magic was great and we really enjoyed the whole dream concept. It's very family friendly and the kids in the audience seemed to really enjoy the show! Xavier himself is very charming, sweet to his audience, and incredibly talented! The venue is small and intimate, which works, although he could do even more incredible things in a bigger space. Really good family friendly show, and did not break the bank to see him. He is tremendously talented in all sorts of entertainment, even more than illusion and slight of hand. My wife and two boys (10 & 14) all enjoyed the show. The theatre is small and intimate, so you really feel part of the show. His assistant "Belle" was funny, beautiful and talented as well (very flexible) as well as being engaging with the audience. I look forward to following his career as I am sure he will be doing big shows in big venues in the near future. He even took time to meet, take pictures and talk to the entire audience. Covid Ro's a natural entertainer and incorporated music, physical humor, magic, a story line and a cute girl with some strong acrobatics. If old Mortimer's response to criticism is to make things up and claim I have "Hatred" towards ANYTHING it is quite disheartening and is an amoral stretch from the truth. The truth is...Yes, I enjoyed "The Ultimate Variety Show" a great deal more than his show, period! And Surprise....it's for families! If this is how you respond to criticism I fear the day when more couples and adults without children present take the time out to review this lump of Play-doh from a grown up's perspective. Very fun and interactive show. Family friendly and funny at times. I would go again and recommend others go as well. There is something for everyone here from all age groups. There is only a group of 3 actors who perform for the entire show so keep that in mind. There aren't 5 to 10 people performing on the stage at once. The length is just right as well. It's not too short or too long. The constant pace of things is perfect to keep you excited and entertained constantly. read more

This is as much a two-person variety show as it is a magic show. Xavier and his partner are both very talented in a number of performance disciplines, including dance, juggling, and music. Most memorable is a sleight of hand act that uses a light projection technique to make balls not only vanish from Xavier's hands, then come to life seemingly on their own. Very creative and fun. Xavier seems like a really hard worker. I feel that he really wants to try and do his best. With that said, I also feel that he could do a lot better than what he presents on his stage show. As a magician he's quite competent with the stuff that he shows off though it seems his tricks are old school parlor tricks and aimed more for younger kids or people who aren't invested in wanting to figure out how magic works. There were a few tricks that slipped up, one of them being a phone that he made disappear off a tray but then his assistant screwed up and the cord to the phone fell from the tray and dangled from it as she was leaving the stage. Another time he dropped a ball that he was juggling around when he was doing a light show trick but that was more slip of the hand than magic. Other than those two problems, for the most part, the majority of his tricks went off without any problems. Some of the tricks were really cool. Like the levitation jump rope trick was really fun to watch. The show itself is charming. Xavier is presented as a bumbling, quirky but charismatic guy. Kind of Charlie Chaplin-esque. He's French so his accent was a bit thick and was hard to distinguish some of what he was saying but the good thing is the show wasn't filled with much talking to begin with. Researching a little bit about Xavier shows that he was part of Cirque Du Soleil. Watching his show I can see that coming through. It does feel more like a mini-Circque Du Soleil act than it does a magic show. In between setups for tricks there is a slide screen that he pulls out on stage that a projector projects a movie on (mostly of goofy skits with a shadow figure of himself or his female assistant). I can see magic fans being turned off by that because it's just a movie projected onto a screen and not exactly magic but I thought it was done quite nicely especially the timing. If there's one thing that he should get praised for is the timing with his interaction with his shadow figure and just things that were pre-recorded. It's so accurately timed that it never feels like he's playing off a recorded video. A lot of the show is based around a story and I think that sort of messes with the flow of the magic. If he could just present a show that's purely just a magic show with no "love story" it would probably be better. I think he's still on Cirque Du Soleil mode instead of magician mode. It's not necessarily a bad thing but there were stuff presented in the show that were more just skill based than magic like his diabolo act. That's something a circus performer would do, not a magician. The technical aspect of the show is one of the problems I really had with it. Whoever did the sound for the show really dropped the ball. Countless times Xavier or his assistants mics would be off when they were trying to talk. It got to a point where even Xavier looked like he was getting a bit frustrated by it. Your one job was to mic Xavier and his assistant. TWO PEOPLE and you couldn't even do that. If you see a guy on stage you'd think "oh I should turn on his mic". Hopefully the guy is a new employee and not someone that's been there from the start. Also the layout of the venue is horrible. Whoever designed that place probably should have looked at it throughly before actually building it because there's a giant pillar right in the middle of the venue between where the performance is at and where the audience is at. That pillar was so awkwardly placed that they had to configure the seats in a v-shape so that people wouldn't be blocked by it. There's also this large unusable space because of the position of that pillar. If you paid for VIP tickets than you're fine as the pillar is behind those seats but otherwise if Xavier's running around his stage certain people will not be able to see him when he's in front of the pillars. All in all his show was cool. Not the greatest magic show ever but definitely not the worst I've seen. Both Xavier and his assistant were charming on stage and I'd rather watch someone like him than those wannabe "mysterious" magicians like Criss Angel. Xavier Mortimer encompasses every kid that grew up wanting to be a magician and that's the kind of performer you want to watch. There are some tricks that are genuinely engaging to watch but there are also some than could be seen during amateur night at a talent show. I'd like to see him again if he can re-work his show a bit better. read more

Wow wow wow what an excellent show! I had such a good time coming to the show. Be prepared for a more intimate setting and possibly being called out from the audience. This is a great show for young adults, couples, adults, kids and families. He is incredibly talented and I has a really nice storyline. I don't want to ruin it for you, but he is an illusionist and has a very beautiful assistant that can do acrobatic movements that I would say most people haven't seen before. The show was everything I thought it would be and more, and he is very very very funny. He was practically flying, spinning in the sky before your eyes, and even being up front I would never guess how he does it! Super cool I loved it. Definitely a must see!! read more

I highly recommend it to anyone that has kids. This is a very small show in a small theater. I appreciated the effort that was put into the show, but it is a small production. I bought the tickets through Groupon so it was very much worth the price and the fun that the kids had. It's not all magic. He performed some great tricks, but it also incorporates some cool talents that he has. Other parts were fillers with "shadow" images. The show is about an hour which is another great plus. The kids were thoroughly entertained. If you're looking for a show for adults, this may not be the show for you. I would suggest spending some money on a bigger production. read more

We really liked this show. There were a couple of flubs during the act, I think when Xavier was flipping something into the air, he didn't "catch" it every single time and instead had to chase something rolling along the floor after a trick. No big deal. I will echo what others had to say about the general admission vs. VIP seats. Take the VIP seats if you can. Our GA seats were "okay" but I would have much rather sit closer and without an annoying pillar in our way. Avoid getting any drinks during the show. Drink beforehand. They'll have to serve you after the lights turn down so it gets a little awkward, especially if you're not VIP and have your own table. There is audience participation, so be prepared to speak in case you are "chosen" (I was and it was just fine). read more

Debated on several different magic shows but I read many great reviews and how Xavier's magic show was kid friendly. My kids (ages 8 and 4) LOVED it. They were amazed and laughing the whole time. We had too many favorite magic tricks of Xavier's to discuss after we left. And so nice that we got to meet and take a picture with him afterwards also. Great show especially if you have kids. Small venue so it's nice to have an intimate setting for people to see the tricks up close. The show is one hour in length but it is fast-paced so he packs in a lot of things in that time span. There are a couple of parts that involve audience interaction. Show up an hour before start time to line up (if you have general admission tickets) if you want to be front row in the general admin seating. One person in your party can hold your place in line for 30 mins or so while other folks in your party walk around. That said, it's a small venue and most seats have a good view. Premium seats are up front and have a table if you want to have drinks. Get the groupon for this if the deal is still available. You'd buy the groupon then call the box office, mention your groupon, and reserve your date. You have to reserve the date in advance to guarantee your seat. If you wait until the night of to reserve your seats, then there is a chance it gets sold out because it is a small venue. Xavier comes out afterwards for photos. read more

The theater was more intimate than I expected. We arrived early for General Admission - about 1 hour before the doors opened and we were first in line for general admission. Coming off from a truly amazing other Vegas magic show, this one did just not hold up. I left about 3/4 of the way through, so don't know if something magical happened in the end. We were all really impressed with "Michael's" performance. Xavier made it a fun show and I loved how he didn't take himself too seriously so when interacted with the crowd it was hilarious at times. As other reviewers have mentioned this guy is in great shape and works his tail off the entire show - no breaks at all. Nice venue, sound and lights/effects were excellent. Most of the backing vocal, bass and sound tracks are sequenced but the drummer, guitar player and keys are all live (as is Xavier of course) and they are all excellent players. Loved the backup dancers too especially when they did the Jackson 5 flash-back. All in all well worth the ticket price and a very fitting tribute show (which just kept getting better and better as the concert wore on) - we all forget just how many great songs Michael Jackson wrote over his career and what a force of presence he was. I decided to purchase 4 tickets to this show for my family based on the good reviews. This show was very funny and entertaining and perfect for a family friendly show! We are all adult age and the show started off a little cheesy but Xavier performed back to back acts that were consistently better and more magical as the show went on. He is an amazing up and coming performer and can definitely hold audience attention for the duration of his show. He and his assistant Belle (also great!) have a meet and greet set up after the show so you can take pictures with them. I hope he continues to practice and get better because I did notice some errors in his show and was able to see through some of the tricks because our seats were on the side of the stage.
