I had been wanting to see Mac King ever since I searched "best magic show in Vegas" and Mac King topped the recommendations. Unfortunately I am often in Vegas for work, and am working at 3pm when his show starts. This time we had the afternoon free and I snagged a ticket. Mac King is superb. The first trick I had seen for the first time at the Magic Castle, but was delighted with the call back to that trick throughout the show. The comedic timing was fantastic. I love callback, and loved the callback with the cards, the fig newton, and colonel Saunders. My favorite parts included the fishing trick, the camping trick (traumatized a kid), and Colonel Saunders. I always looked forward to how he picks volunteers for his acts. The seating is strange, probably because the venue is also used for Thunder Down Under at night. But it enabled Mac King to run around and be his delightful self. The entire show was very Magic Castle coded. If you're unable to make it to the Magic Castle, this is a good option. If you enjoy going to the Magic Castle, you will love Mac King. His show has remained pretty much the same, but what is unpredictable are the participants he calls from the audience. That is what really makes this show: how Mac interacts with them. Funny Dude... I saw Mac King on my very first trip to Las Vegas many years ago. He was at a different casino and it was a LOT cheaper. Now he's at the bougie Excalibur where they charge a premium for his afternoon show (3p). You can find deals in the MGM app and in the rooms (and probably many other places), so do some looking around before you pay full price. The show is wonderful. It's billed as family friendly and for the most part it's true unless your family is really sheltered from minor potty humor. It's enjoyable for the magic, the comedy and the downright silliness of Mac King. There's a reason Penn & Teller love this guy. It's a great way to kill some time in the mid afternoon after you bake in the sun at the pool or before happy hour at one of the bars. You may just find yourself REALLY enjoying this show. This is for the show at the Excalibur Casino Hotel in the "Thunder From Down Under" theatre. Not recommended, but it might be the fault of MGM Resorts and not Mac King. The show is too expensive, you can't bring a drink from the casino into the show and the theatre is very crowded and cold. The magic show was fine, but with low production values. We surprised our kids for the first time in Vegas and first time at a magic show. We booked this after doing research. We also got dead center front row seats so kids could be involved. Well not only were they completely ignored, they brought someone else as a replacement named Derek Hugh's. No email was ever sent so this was a shock. Great magic show, joyous, and really funny for a really good price! Me and my husband came to the show together, so we felt like not the typical audience as there were mostly families in the crowd, but we loved it and thought it was a great show with plenty of humor that was both funny for kids and had some more adult double-meanings, and hey, why not? We are in Las Vegas. I really loved how Mac weaved his jokes into a continuous story so that every magic trick felt like it was paced to arrive at the right time. Nothing dragged on too much, and the tricks felt like the result was earned. I will say some of humor is more PG13 in that he pulls objects from the pant zipper, but nothing inappropriate is ever seen - but if this seems too suggestive for you, that's fine. He is very aware of the audience though and the audience (mostly families) was cracking up for most of the show. He is also very respectful of the audience members that come up with him, giving them appropriate space and never touching any part of them without asking. Also, this is a great value! We paid ~$70 (when tax was included) per person (we were in one of the front tables), and in Vegas? That's a great deal and it was a nice show to have in the midday when me and my husband wanted a relaxing, funny show to watch before we go out at night. We booked this show because our kids (11 and 12 years old) really wanted to see a magic show while on vacation and it was pretty highly rated, affordable, and advertised as family friendly. Mac king is a skilled magician and his tricks were pretty cool. He was pretty funny but many of his jokes were not necessarily family friendly and had lots of sexual innuendos. Potty humor would have been one thing but sexual crosses the line a bit, especially when directed toward women he brings up on stage. The audience was packed with kids so it's clear most people came because they thought it was kid appropriate. Given the minimal offerings of affordable and kid friendly shows on the strip, it would have been way better to just keep it wholesome for everyone in the room. I would not recommend it as a family friendly option or at a minimum families should know what they can expect. read more

His ability to play off of the audience, switch gears when people don't quite do things the way he plans for them to do, and his interaction with everyone he pulled up on stage made the show so much more fun! I would be lying if I didn't say our favorite part was when our 10 year old Talon, got pulled up on stage to participate in a camping lesson. We've never laughed so hard! The adult humor was on point, and the kid humor was equally as funny. It was the perfect way to end our trip to Las Vegas. The whole show made our oldest, Treten, super excited to learn more that he got both the book and the magic kit after the show. How are people going to call this a "family friendly" show when he is constantly pulling props out of his crotch? "Hey kids, is Mac going to reach into his fly and pull out a cookie? Yes!" Uhhh... I don't know what sort of families everyone else is running but I wouldn't want to explain that to a small child. Lots of sexual innuendo about penetration and Mac straight up telling a woman from the audience to get naked and tie him up with a rope. I turned to my husband and said, "is this even 2023?" Lecherous behaviour isn't my kind of humour. People he brought up on stage to participate will have you distressed that these people can legally vote, probably purchase firearms and parent children. Woman brought on stage was told to write her name on a card so that Mac would then find her card, magically, from the deck. She wrote her name on the back of the card... so her name was visible when he shuffled the deck. He had her pick a new card to write her name on the playing face side. He told her to show the audience what her card was so we would know if he pulled her card. Instead she showed him her card and said it was "the 5 of clubs..." Jesus take the wheel. Mac brought a guy up who couldn't understand odds and Mac made a joke about this is how casinos make money. Trick had more pulling stuff out of his fly to hand to the guy he brought on stage. While some of the tricks (specifically the cereal box, bear and shoe trick) were great, you'll see these tricks at many of the affordable magic shows in Vegas. While I wasn't a fan of the humour, I was going to rate it at least 3 stars because I did enjoy some of the tricks. It was 3 stars until on our way out I stopped to wait in line where Mac was selling merch and signing autographs to take a photo of my husband with Mac. There were some younger teen (Caucasian) girls in line that asked Mac if he would (I believe take a photo with them) and he said no because they "could have a disease that (he) didn't know about." What? I stepped out of line and told my husband that apparently he wasn't doing photos. The girls in front of us walked over to I'm guessing their dad and said, "he wouldn't. He insinuated that we have a disease." If I misheard them asking for a photo and they were asking him for something else, I don't know what else they possibly could have asked for where "no, because you might have a disease that I don't know about" would be a reasonable response to that request from a customer.
