I joined last year because even though 24 hour fitness was more affordable, the machines and building were just going down hill fast. The last straw was when I had a partially torn meniscus. I couldn't go up and down stairs but I still went to the gym for rehab and for upper body. Their elevator has been out of service for WEEKS. Essentially making it nearly impossible for me to workout if I needed to use the restroom or locker rooms at all. After this I looked through multiple gyms, pricing and their benefits and went with Anytime. I absolutely LOVE that I can go to any of the AF gyms. I've been to a few others and it's been great to hit the gym when I'm traveling or on vacation. Overall Pinole AF is clean, safe and I love that I never really have had to wait for a machine. Yes the gym is small, but it makes up for it by being one of the most hygienic places I've worked out in. Most of the time if someone is on a machine they never truly hog it and I'm able to get my workout done in the time I want. I'm grateful to have found AF Pinole!

Pilates is a good option for those seeking to get back into working out or recovering from an injury. I would not recommend pilates in general for someone looking for a results driven workouts. Lagree is much more effective at toning muscles and there are options for studios in the Walnut Creek area.

The equipment selection is solid. There are plenty of ellipticals, stair steppers, bikes, rowing machines, and other cardio equipment, so I've never really had to wait long to get on a machine. My favorite part is definitely the Black Card Spa area. Between the cryo bed, red light therapy, hydro massage, tanning booths, and massage chairs, it's honestly a nice way to recover after a workout. The staff has also been consistently kind and helpful every time I've gone in. The locker room and bathrooms are always clean and well stocked, and I appreciate the little details like the water bottle refill station, hydration options available for purchase, towel access, and lockers (they'll even provide a lock for a small fee if you forget yours). The only downside is that the Black Card lounge can occasionally have an unpleasant odor at times, which can take away from the otherwise relaxing atmosphere. Parking can also get a little hectic during busy hours since the gym shares a shopping center with other stores, but don't let that discourage you -- worst case, park farther out and get some extra steps in. Overall, a really convenient gym with good amenities, friendly staff, and everything I personally need to get in, get my workout done, and head out.

Unfortunately, over the past few months, the quality and safety of this location have seriously declined. The men's locker room and showers are consistently dirty and poorly maintained. On multiple occasions, I've walked into the shower area and encountered a man behaving inappropriately--standing naked in the showers with the curtain open, no water running, engaging in explicit sexual behavior, and attempting to talk to me while doing so. This has happened more than once. I've also repeatedly found human feces in the shower drains, which is beyond unacceptable and raises serious health and sanitation concerns. I reported the inappropriate behavior to a staff member days ago and was told I would need to speak to a manager, who is apparently only available early Monday mornings. This delay is unacceptable given the seriousness of the situation and the impact on member safety. Additionally, the handicap-accessible shower has been "under construction" for nearly a month. The curtain has repeatedly been torn down and left uncleaned, and there is now visible trash piled inside the shower area. This should have been addressed weeks ago. It's extremely disappointing to see a gym with so much potential deteriorate this badly. Cleanliness, safety, and staff responsiveness have clearly fallen through the cracks. I'll be looking into other gyms that take hygiene and member safety seriously.

I have never had an issue getting into a class here due to classes being at capacity, unlike at other studios where waitlists are the norm. Challenges and programs including DriTri, Hell Week, and 12 Days of Fitmas seem fun to do but always cost extra. The current rates have each increased $10/month for new members since my last review. I'm still paying $189 for an unlimited membership. The coaches here continue to be great and the app is user friendly. They do have an 8-hour cancellation policy for classes - if you don't show up or even need to reschedule the class within that window, you will get charged $12 unless you have an excellent reason. They are super responsive via text. Check out the Reddit page on Orangetheory Fitness for intel on the next day's class and other useful discussions. I've been deeply concerned about their customer service. Because of health issues I've had to extend my membership. They've been resistant or refused at times. Most recently, I injured myself running at Orange Theory and had the most difficult time suspending my membership. They seem uncaring and at times unresponsive to emails. I'm concerned that they don't actually care about including people with medical issues and only care about their corporate standards. If you come, I'd recommend a class pack to start and prepared to be very on top of paperwork and be prepared to provide doctors notes for extending memberships.

But 510 changed that for me. The first day I walked in there I immediately knew this was where I was meant to get my health back. The community here is full of people you won't necessarily find just anywhere. It doesn't matter how fit you are or how fit the person next to you is, because we will be cheering you on, supporting you in a way you didn't think people did anymore. The coaches keep things fun, but also make sure you are being safe. They are hilarious and also extremely motivating. I really haven't found a gym like this since my old one closed, and to be honest, 510 is even better! I have injuries from a car accident years ago and the coaches are always ready to modify a workout for me. They are extremely knowledgeable at what they do. It doesn't matter what level you are at or if you are injured, I promise you that you won't regret stepping in those doors. It truly changed my life (physically, mentally and emotionally). Every time I go, it helps me believe in myself a little more and some of the best people I have met in my life, I met through Crossfit. Don't hesitate. Run here. You won't regret it.

I was so happy when I was finally able to do a bar muscle up! All the people I worked out with are super supportive and fun! We push each other and hold each other accountable. And I have made good life time friends at this gym. I am forever grateful for this company and the community.
