Dedicated 2 Fitness is a great place to workout! It's a small personal training gym. There are no more than 10 people at each session but you have your own workout plan. Then every third week is total body week (HITT). There's also nutrition assistance and inBody scans to help track your results more thoroughly. I've been working out here for a little over a year and I really like it! I'm a person who always enjoyed going to the classes at the gym but also wanted taillored guidance for my own specific goals. And that's exactly what you get here! When I moved to the East Bay, I was in search of a gym despite the fact that I had a home gym that I was proud of during and after Covid. I felt deflated (as were my muscles!) because I was done with the large corporate gyms and the smaller gyms felt a bit clique-ish, and that wasn't the energy I was going for. I walked in and low and behold, it was a straight up gym in the middle of Rodeo...who woulda thunk it?! I easily get wooed by shiny and new things, so I was very careful when I decided that this was gonna be my gym. After a few sessions and getting to know Nick, I for sure know that D2F is my gym. It's definitely not clique-y; the people go there to work out and it's not a competitive atmosphere where people wanna show out. That's an immediate gag for me, and not the good kind, either. Haha. I hate Nick, he is horribly great at what he does. Before joining D2F I had several sessions with "so-called trainers" who billed me without expecting results. They took my money but didn't push me to reach goals in fact, they didn't even require that I establish goals. When I met Nick he not only insisted that I set goals for myself, he cares just as much as I do, if not more for me to reach those goals. I have some severe injuries including back issues, damage to several disks, an injured sacrum, and knees. Without compromising my health Nick creates workouts that are designed to strengthen the injured areas of my body. He creates and writes personalized weekly workouts for each client based on their unique circumstances and abilities. Nick is an outstanding trainer with a wealth of knowledge. I also appreciate how Nick does not treat his clients as "clients", he welcomes everyone into his family. He has genuine compassion for what his clients are dealing with at home, work, emotionally, and mentally, because it's all connected to living a healthy life. The atmosphere at D2F is serious with a purpose, but Nick is light-hearted and openly talks s**t about you. While pushing you to be the best you can be, Nick will also make up elaborate stories about you to get a laugh. None of it is hurtful, but his joking does make the sessions move faster. Since this review, Nick has continuously invested in the studio. He now has an InBody Scanner in the gym which he encourages people to use 1x/month. The InBody scan is a body composition analysis that gives you a read out of your muscle and fat composition by limb so that you can identify where you're growing muscle and where you can improve. I initially called Nick 5 months ago because -- despite my best efforts -- I could *not* make myself weight train on my own and I couldn't stand "fitness culture" at most gyms. I told him on our first call that I hated weights, knew I hated weights, but that I knew it was good for me so I was going to give it an honest shot. I made him promise that he would never try to make me *like* it and I told him that I was allergic to any "woo hoo!" or fake enthusiasm type energy in my workouts. Nick and the people who come here are amazing. Just a 100% solid, funny, playful, grounded group of folks. They take the workouts seriously but don't take themselves seriously! After Yo-yoing with my weight, I have finally learned to maintain my weight! A little background on me, I've always had thick arms and legs. Always feel lucky and happy with Nick!! I found Nick on Yelp in January 2019, and since then, I've been working out with him for lifting sessions and learning healthy eating knowledge from him.
