The food was incredible, no complaint at all. They have recently renovated and the new place looks immaculate. We came on a Sunday around 2:30 so there were maybe about 10 other people in there when we arrived. Our waitress had us wait about 10 minutes for drinks, 15 to take our order and about 45 minutes for it to come out only to find out that she put in the wrong ticket. The manager came over and was immediately turning our attitudes around. He was apologetic and prompt and very professional yet still empathetic to our wait time. He saved the dinner for us but hopefully the waitress has a better day next time. Despite the lengthy wait we will be returning here for our meals! read more

This is my second experience. I thought I would give them another shot at getting it right on my second go around. The german fried pot. Were served cold two different times. I was curious if it's supposed to be served this way. I asked the waiter who I presume was the manager and was first told no it is supposed to be hot. She did offer to take my plate back with other food items on my plate. At this point I said no, knowing they would then re-heat in the microwave. What she should have done was to offer to bring out the pot. On another plate. Also the appetizers dish we got was shafted with such a small amount of food for the price of the item. I remember my first experience with the same appet. Had way more food on my plate. Upon receiving our ticket the waiter appologized and said they are having a problem with trying to keep the potatos warm. Wow my first impression was it's not cooked fresh. No accomidations were made on our ticket. At least they could have taken the appet. Off or not charge us for the tea! Their will not be a third visit to this restaurant ever! I do not recommend dining here. Being of German descent, and having German food often, this place was a true disappointment. Not one item on my plate or my husband's had any flavor (seasoning) and our schnitzel fingers came out burnt as did my schnitzel dinner. The manager and waitress was gracious in having it remade but still no taste. And the jäger sauce was thick cream gravy with mushrooms thrown in. The name says it all, and should have warned us!!!!! Two stars because the beer was good, and they have lots of choices on tap. I guess if all you want to do is drink it might not be a bad place to go, but the name is wurst house, not beer house. The wurst was not bad- our sampler had 4 of our choice, and two of the four were cool inside when they came to the table. If you can't even warm a premade sausage all the way through.... The cook ought to go back to the school cafeteria they came from. There were three of us, and we chose three different menu items so we could try different things. The "meat roll" (rouladen) was dry, basically flavorless, and served on a "bed" of egg noodles. Those were dry, slightly undercooked, and flavorless. No hint of salt or anything else either. On the side were "German potatoes", some sort of sliced potatoes cooked in a nondescript manner with bitter burnt edges. Also a dollop of marinated slightly sweet red cabbage accompanied the dish. This was cold. Perhaps it was supposed to be. I believe I recognized the brand from my local supermarket. The "Hungarian goulash" might have met a Hungarian sometime during its long and boring life. Tasted like hunks of boiled beef that had sauce poured over it the last 10 minutes before it was served. Same noodles, same potatoes, same cabbage. Cordon Bleu was a brown undistinguished dryish lump, same noodles, same cabbage, same potatoes. What a waste of 100.00 for three people. Fortunately we have dogs. None of us finished our food. Sunday night, it's not dead but sure isn't crowded. We walk in to a bartender who kindly pointed out the stools we were standing by were occupied but didn't care to take our drink order. So we were then lead outside to a table, where over a half hour or so, were brought menus, no drink orders were taken, three different servers walked by but no one served us!!! After Sue got up to get the manager, we finally got drinks (another ten minutes later-- parched, we walked through the desert--not really but felt like it). Excuses were made such as, "He is a new server"-- we don't care! Doing is the best way to learn, kids! I think we doubled our next drink order for fear that we would be left literally high and dry. Are the owners sure the spelling of their business' name is correct? Maybe it ought to be Worst House. We will go back again, but with already wary attitudes and timers set on watches and phones. read more

The Wurst Haus is great. They have a nice mix of German food, as well as American dishes. They easily have the best steaks in the area, probably the best I've ever had. They have wine, mixed drinks and a beer list that simply can't be beat. They also have the best service in town. The servers check on you many times throughout the meal, unlike some other places. With delicious food, the best drink selection and great service, it is always an enjoyable experience for me at the Wurst Haus. I strongly reccomend it. read more

I have been to Wurst Haus several times since moving here less than 2 years ago and it has been a local favorite spot for myself and some friends after work for food and drinks. While the service can be a hit or miss, the food and drinks are nice. We have always gone there because it was a nice place for us to sit and chat. However, our experience there a couple of weeks ago has made every single one of us (even friends who weren't able to make it on that occasion) say that we will NOT be going back. The following is why: I am white. My boyfriend is black. The group of friends I was with was a mixture of gender, ethnicity, race, age, etc. I was already seated with my friends when my boyfriend arrived. The woman at the hostess stand asked if she could help him. He told her that he was there to meet some friends. She stepped into the restaurant area, looked around, and then went back to tell him, "I don't think they are here yet." At that point he told her that we were, in fact, there and came to sit down with us. How in the world was this woman able to assume that his friends weren't there yet? Was it because she took it upon herself to look for a group of people with similar skin tone? The days of segregation are OVER, woman. I am mostly mad at myself for not calling her out on her action at the time it happened. We will gladly take our business elsewhere and we have been spreading the word about how my boyfriend was treated. The way things sound, Wurst Haus will be losing many of its (former) loyal customers. read more

We visited this establishment for dinner tonight along with some good friends. The food was okay - and the beer selection is always excellent. However, I was frustrated by one issue. We ordered 15 wings and requested 2 kinds of sauce. One of the kinds delivered was wrong (it was a habanero sauce that simply wasn't very hot) and so we asked the waiter to replace it. When the ticket came, we were charged $0.75 each for two extra sauces. (Most wing restaurants will provide one sauce for each 5 wings in your order as part of the order). We had 3 sauces total with the 15 wings. Our friends placed an order of 5 wings and were given one sauce as part of of their order at no extra charge. Anyway, we asked to speak to the manager on shift - apparently a lady by the name of Karen. This was Sunday evening, September 20, 2015. Karen (apparently there are 2 Karen's who work as managers here, so it's important to get the correct one) refused to come out and talk with us and also refused to give our waiter her last name. I understand this restaurant is owned by a gentleman named Randy. We were with another couple who apparently know Randy to see him. We asked if he was there and he was not. Not that it's a lot of money - but the whole things seems a bit messed up. I am curious if it's Randy's practice to empower his managers refuse to talk to a paying customer when the customer requests that they do so to address a complaint. It's my feeling that this not ideal for a customer oriented business. Seems to me that such a practice will drive his customers away. Just saying! Anyway, if you choose to eat at this restaurant, it's a bit of a case of buyer beware if something doesn't come out right. read more

Apparently no one wanted to work this Sunday afternoon. When we arrived, we had a 10 to 15 minute wait. I have no problem with that if the restaurant is crowded. There were vacant tables everywhere and the wait staff were just standing around. The hostess who was not a happy girl said her manager was the person who said there was a wait. When we were finally seated, our waiter Kevin was great, although when another table was seated in his section he told another waitress that he didn't wanted them. I ordered a Reuben sandwich with corned beef and sauerkraut but received red cabbage instead. The sandwich was very good and probably would have been better if I got it the way that I ordered. My husband ordered the combination plate with knock wurst, but....they were out of the sausage. How can you be out of sausage at a wurst house! Anyway the food is usually very good and so is the service. I hope that this was just a bad day. read more

Good food, crazy good draft pulls!! But be wary...make sure you know about band cover charges before you come in. We were here on New Years Eve, and had to learn about a band cover charge from other patrons. The hostess didn't tell us. With improvements come a cost, but the higher prices and cover charges make me yearn for the "old" Wurst Haus. read more

this is not an updated yelp page because there is outside dinning and the Wurst Haus now serves breakfast as well! (: and chantelle it seems you just dont like and are not knowledgeable on German food.. 1- there are not mashed potatoes. there is German fried potatoes and German potato salad though! (both rather delicious) potato salad is probably the closest youll get to mashed potatoes and it is a bit cold. its supposed to be. 2- that's just how red cabbage is. 3- the mushrooms you probably had were jager mushrooms. they are not everyones cup of tea...... if you like sour cream, you'll like this saucy mushrooms! however you dont have to get the sauce. you can get it on the side or not get them at all. just ask the server. this place is pretty wonderful. I suggest everyone come and try. the bar is wonderful. the food is great. and the service is great to. they truly stick to there motto. "great food. serious brew. better times." there is so much you can get here. there is kids meals too. HOWEVER no crayons for kids HOWEVER (again) there is no problem with asking a server for a pen or bringing your own crayons to draw on the paper table tops..! read more

I have been going to the Wurst Haus for many years and yesterday's visit was extremely disappointing. Charging $1.50 for bread (the waitress never even offered us any probably because she was too embarrassed to ask) and the 1/4" pastrami "deli" sandwich for $12 was no better than and Oscar Meyer sandwich offered at the Valero gas station. We found THREE different pieces of hair in our food, after telling the manager about the first hair, she apologized and took the appetizer off the menu (WITH AN ATTITUDE). After the second hair we found (I told her she didn't have to take it off the menu but I wanted her to know so she could know her establishment), she told us she closed out our bill due to them not being able to satisfy out visit. She was extremely RUDE and not helpful. I will never return. The food wasn't even good to compensate the hair found. I'm disgusted. Never have I ever been asked to leave a restaurant especially due to THEIR mistake. We were still giving them the benefit of the doubt by ordering drinks, and she still asked us to leave. The Brazosport High School class of 1976 recently celebrated our 40th class reunion at the Wursthaus. I want to share how exciting it was for the planning committee. I spoke with the event coordinator Janet Carroll and from that moment we knew this would work. Janet took care of everything. There was not any clean up afterwards we just paid and left and that is not the "norm".. We have always had to set up then clean up and manage everything. They had a fabulous band and our classmates said this was our best reunion yet. The food was great the service was great. I hope to have every class reunion here from now on. My wife, daughter and I decided to go here tonight because of the music. We were seated outside and Caleb M. was our waiter. He is a horrible waiter and tried to accuse me of raising my voice to him. Trust me, if I had raised my voice EVERYONE would have heard it. He tried to remember our entire order without writing it down and forgot my daughters meal. Your damn right I got upset. Then he came back so infrequently that I only got 2 refills on my drink. There was a mess under our table that stayed there the entire time and he never bothered to clean up. Wurst Haus needs to seriously reevaluate their wait staff and get rid of any of these kids who have no clue how customer service works. P.S. the place was NOT very busy so there was no excuse. I was visiting my daughter from out of town. She comes here regularly and was greeted by the staff in a friendly manner when we arrived. We each ordered a drink and split an order of chicken wings (good but NOT Buffalo wings). There are outside tables for the use of the patrons. My daughter went outside and asked me to join her when I was done with my portion of the wings. I asked the barmaid Julie? (bleached blond short hair and tattoos) if she could keep the to go box for us as I wanted to join my daughter outside and she said that I had to leave a credit card with her if I wanted to go outside. I gave her my card but told her not to charge it because 1. We had asked for separate checks and they ignored the request and put it all on one check, and 2. I intended to pay with cash. At that point she said she would separate the check right then and there and demanded that I pay in full before I would be allowed to go join my daughter outside. She was incredibly rude and I am not accustomed to being treated in such a brusque manner. She did not however seek any payment from my daughter who was already outside and had not yet settled her bill. NOT WORTH THE INSULTING RUDE TREATMENT. read more
