2nd time we've been here since the remodel. Atmosphere: very nice. Service: fair. Server was nice but intrusive. Food: zero stars except for the sandwiches. Goulash: very dry meat, overly peppered sauce, no salt. Beef roll: dry and lacking seasoning. Noodles: no salt and were cooked to the point of being mushy. Red cabbage: no flavor and cooked until mushy. Green beans: great flavor, but prep forgot to check them: stems and strings. Fried potatoes and potato salad: pretty good, nicely flavored. Fried needed a few more minutes of cook time. Reuben sandwich: very good, but dried out. Chicken salad: excellent. We used to go to the old establishment weekly until they closed years ago. Sub par tonight and when we tried to let them know one of our favorite regular dishes was off par.... A young disinterested manager told us that he and the kitchen disagreed. Moreover, they didn't correct the meal or the price and knew it was the birthday boy's meal. Our waitress, on the other hand, was great and felt terrible for us. The place is quite empty tonight ...Perhaps a sign that other things have gone wrong for others as well. My wife and I have eaten here frequently in the past but this is the first time since they remodeled. I like the look now and we enjoyed dining outside. I had a rib eye steak and it was cooked well and had a nice flavor. The reason for the three stars was my wife's salad. She has had the Cobb salad before and really liked it but they changed the lettuce from romaine to a spring mix several years ago. Since we haven't been in a while she looked at it again and on the menu it specified romaine. She even asked the waiter and he confirmed that was the only lettuce in it (although I could tell he really had no idea but instead of finding out he just said what my wife wanted to hear). Sure enough it came out as a spring mix, not even an apology when we mentioned it to the waiter. So 3 stars for a deceiving, unapologetic waiter and an incorrect menu description. read more

What the heck happened to the Wurst Haus? It used to be this quaint yummy place to eat. Now we go in and they're looking down their nose at us as they seat us and after 10 minutes and no one ever came to wait in us, we got up and walked out completely unnoticed! I will never go back! This place is huge!!! So much bigger than I was expecting. the bar was massive too. I sat at the bar to eat a simple lunch with my friend on a Saturday afternoon. They had a lot of beers on tap, but were out of the two we wanted -- Miller Lite and Celis White. We had a Jager Schnitzel (it was a lot more than $7.99 as noted on another review), wings and a sampler plate with a variety of sausages​ and a plain schnitzel. All the food was very good. The Jager (Hunter) sauce on my schnitzel was more of a cream sauce and very thick with mushrooms, I am used to more of a brown gravy. We were not blown away by the food or menu selection, but everything was very good. read more

My fiancé and I went there last weekend and really enjoyed it. Unique setting and huge beer list. Service was a 10/10. Chips and salsa were the best. My fiancé really enjoyed her burger. This is a great place to dine, watch a few sports, and have a brew. For all the brew snobs out there, they have about a hundred on tap with specialty brews from all over. Love the fried jalapeños - and I hear the fried pickles are great as well. Grab a burger or enjoy the German cuisine. I LOVE sauerkraut and red cabbage, so I always lean towards the German! This is our favorite restaurant in Lake Jackson. The food is always great. One of our favorites is the jaeger schnitzel with a side of German fried potatoes and red cabbage. And their red snapper is very good and well-prepared. The beer selection is amazing. The Wurst Haus goes to great lengths to provide the best beer in the area with their regular offerings plus new, limted-time beers each week. Wurst Haus has been around for more than 20 years. That alone should say something. We love the sandwiches but everything is good.

I've been here for lunch several times and I have always enjoyed it. Food is pretty good the service was pretty good but it was a bit slow. I came here for a lunch meeting and it took us almost an hour to get our food. It's lunchtime and an hour is a pretty long time to get your food, especially given that there was only a handful of people there and it was not that busy. read more

Wurst Haus has been raising the bar in the downtown Lake Jackson area. The service as of late has been far better than Wayside Pub and The Local. The beer menu is decent and the food is tasty and appropriately priced. The atmosphere is fun, and the outdoor patio and live music events are a nice bonus. read more

This place has sooooo much potential. I am disappointed every time I come here. Service is the worst and food is mediocre at best.

Went there this evening with a friend and sat at a table for several minutes without a server approaching our table. (was not busy either). Pretty sad when there were 4-5 servers standing several feet from us just conversing with themselves oblivious to us being there. We eventually walked out and saw the same servers near the exit. We told them why we were leaving and they really did not apologize for their lack of attention. We have been here before and usually sit at the bar and get great service, however most the bar seats were full during this visit. I guess I know why now. Very disappointed this evening with the service. We went next door and were treated like true customers. I hope the management reads this and fixes things. read more

Was I really in Lake Jackson, Texas? As I attended the Wayside Bar few hours previous to go into this bar they are contrast to one another. This bar is very wide open. It had a long granite bar in the back with over 100 brews. To the right very beautiful wood bar. The manager did come by and talked to our group. The bartenders were very friendly. There was an outstanding amount of brews. But I wish they had a punch card so you could keep track of which brews you did have so you would not repeat. read more

It was a nice day and I wanted to sit on a patio. I came to Wurst Haus to have a beer and some lunch. I think everyone had the same idea. The patio had 3 tables filled when I arrived. The hostess sat me and came back to wipe my table and leave me a water. I didn't know what kind of beer I wanted so it was perfect. While I waited for my server to greet me, I was deciding on a beer. After I decided, I was still waiting for a greet. Finally a girl came by in a hurry and said she will be right with me. So I continued to look at the menu for my lunch. She eventually came back. She wasn't friendly at all. I gave her my order then she left. I waited. While I waited I did get a text. This was the first time I noticed the time. Usually when we dine out we don't know exactly how long we wait and it seems like a long time but it really wasn't. Well now I have a time to compare it to because of the text. I received the text at 1:42pm. The waiter came back at 2:10pm to tell me the bartender is busy and will get my drink when she's not busy. I really didn't want to get mad. I was waiting 30 minutes for a beer. I got up and went to the front of the restaurant and told whoever I'm not waiting and going to Wayside Pub. I went to Wayside Pub where I was greeted fast and beer in hand all within 3 minutes. This isn't my first time at Wurst Haus but is my last. I'll just go to Wayside Pub where the staff is friendly and prompt. read more

My husband and I make the drive to Lake Jackson about every other weekend now. We found this gem while looking for something to do on a weekend. We love the schnitzel, brats, and beer! We actual live in Houston so it is a bit of a drive but definitely worth it every time. I have had a few other items on the menu but I continually go back to the brats with sauerkraut and have never been disappointed except for the time they had run out of the Nuremberger brat. Nothing like brats and beer or schnitzel and beer, and the schnitzel is great with or without the Jager sauce. Love this place!!! read more

You know, I disagree with several of the reviews on here. This place is still family friendly even though they have a larger beer and wine selection then they used to. I've been going to Wurst Haus for about 10 years and I like the improvements they've made. There's also a FREE (contrary to what some of the posters have been saying) live band that plays on Fridays and Saturdays starting at about 8pm. The food and service is good and the renovations have helped a lot with the acoustics. My fiance and I go here about once a week and the staff is always friendly. It's a great place to take friends visiting from out of town and a good place to hang out on a Friday night. If you've never been before and want something healthy, try the Gypsy Chicken or Steak Salad. read more

I have eaten here several times and food choice and quality is acceptable, However, I wanted to eat here today (2/22/15 at 1:00pm) and waited for a table 20 minutes, although there were at least a dozen tables inside and outside that were empty. Then when we were seated the waitress told us that the kitchen was behind about 30 minutes, something I would have liked to know ahead of time. The food is usually pretty spot on. Tonight however, the food fell below the mark and has done so the last few times I have been. For the price, I would expect better considering I always think of them to have the best steaks in town. The live music inside was too loud. The home made chips are killer. Worth ordering with every visit. They come under an order of bottle caps FYI. Honey Habanero wings and some chicken bacon ranch flatbread to soak up the last of that spicy sauce.... mmmmm. Love the new bar area and televisions. A worthwhile visit to be sure. read more
