The equipment is well-chosen and versatile; the space is cheery, immaculate, and well-maintained. There's a room of boxing equipment, and I think brand new leg machinery since I was last here. The owner and trainer is friendly, helpful, and just a constant source of positive energy. Love this place. One small eccentricity to be prepared for: as part of keeping the place so clean with no staff, you are asked not to wear shoes you've worn on the street into the gym. Bring training shoes in your bag and change into them once you're inside.

The gym has all the necessary equipment, be it weight training (machine and free weights), cardio, or even boxing. Everything is kept in super clean and well-functioning state. I also really appreciated his tips around workouts here and there (and I know he also has personal training program as well). Also included is the protein shake you can get at the end of the workout, which I thought was a great plus especially for travelers like myself. More than anything, this is not one of those commercial gyms where they only care about taking your money or the equipment can be hit or miss. It felt like I was working out at a friend's place with a super nice gym. Overall, I can't recommend it enough for anyone whether local or visiting Berlin and Schöneberg area.

During a recent visit to Berlin, I tried Aspria Berlin Ku'damm for one week. I'm based in Los…read moreAngeles, where I normally work out at Orangetheory Fitness, which focuses on group-based cardio, strength, and interval training. With that in mind, I was mainly looking for facilities that supported active cardio workouts -- treadmill, rowing, and weights. Overall impression: Aspria Berlin Ku'damm is a premium fitness and wellness club in a prime location on Ku'damm. It features spacious training areas, modern equipment, and a wide variety of classes (yoga, cycling, HIIT). The highlights are a bright 25m indoor pool, an extensive spa and sauna area, and a rooftop terrace for relaxation. Families are well catered for with the Aspria Academy, family pool/sauna times, and there's also a restaurant, co-working spaces, and even a boutique hotel on-site. Areas for improvement: Climate in training rooms - This was my biggest issue. The workout rooms were uncomfortably warm, making high-impact cardio nearly impossible. Windows can only be opened by staff, and while portable AC units are placed at the entrances, they were rarely switched on. With outside temperatures around 80°F and direct sun through the windows, the rooms quickly overheated. When I asked a trainer for help with the AC or windows, I was told, "I am not responsible for that," which was disappointing. In situations like this, staff should take initiative rather than send clients searching for the right person. Thankfully, another trainer was more helpful, but this is definitely an area for improvement. Cleaning of equipment - I noticed very few members cleaned their machines after use. Spray and paper towels are available, but disinfectant wipes would be a more convenient solution. In addition, cleaning after use should be mandatory and supervised by staff. Phone use in training rooms - Several people were talking on their phones while using equipment, which was distracting. Clearer rules around phone use in training areas would help maintain a focused workout environment. Shower supplies - The body wash/soap in the showers was empty on multiple occasions. This should be checked and refilled daily. Summary: Aspria Berlin Ku'damm is a beautiful, well-equipped club with excellent facilities, but I believe attention to climate control, hygiene practices, staff responsiveness, and amenities maintenance would significantly enhance the member experience.

In reality, it turned out pauses were only allowed with medical or work documentation, and even then came with paperwork and restrictions. Not at all the simple, easy process that was promised. I paid all fees (except a disputed €5) and tried to part ways on good terms -- even asked if they could waive just one final month as a gesture, given we live nearby and had plans to return or recommend to friends and family. Sadly, that was met with zero flexibility. Ironically, my family is visiting in December and originally wanted to stay at Aspria for a full week. But I told them not to -- and we'll go elsewhere. Aspria "won" one forced membership month but lost six nights of paid stay and future goodwill. That says a lot about how they treat "loyal" customers. Trust matters -- especially at this price point. Sharing this so others know what to expect.

My notes for this review draft were just "sore."…read more Yeah, I got my ass kicked and I barely moved. It's a weird thing. I'll explain. I walked by Fitbox one day on a stroll through PBerg and was interested. I returned home, looked it up on the internet (the site is all in German) and sent over an email seeing if they had english speaking "trainers." Of course they did...and so I made an appointment quite easily for my "intro" session. Well, you'd think that the vest-strapped-buff-looking models and techno music on the site might've tipped me off that this was going to be something "different" about my workout experience. So basically you get electrocuted (ahem, electrically stimulated) while you kind of stand there doing small motions that normally would not count as "exercise." You dress in a black spandex shirt/shorts they provide you. Then you stand (in full view of passerby!) while a trainer turns up the jolts on your vest, which connects to straps on your legs, arms, butt and back. And then for 2 days you feel like maybe you competed in Gladiator. SORE. But, it only takes 20 minutes!? How can I be sore!? What is this! Who is this German electrocuting me and making my muscles work without working. Well, proof in the pudding muscles, you DO somehow get a workout for doing relatively little but enduring the discomfort of low level electrocution. I like to try something new every day and this certainly fit the bill! You can read more on EMS (electro muscle stimulation) here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrical_muscle_stimulation Unfortunately, while they do offer you an intro session free of charge the packages are really long term, and as I was only in Berlin until the end of September this just didn't work for me. The trainer wasnt really able to accommodate my schedule/price package (and I was willing to pay!) and so I just figured it wasn't the right fit for me. The longer you sign on for the cheaper it is per 20 minute session (20 euros) but short term it shoots up to about 40 euros and it's just a bit too rich for my (boiling! charged!) blood. Cool concept though, I'm glad I gave it a try.
