I don't have the back issues I used to, but I did have to make an emergency trip over to them recently and they had me fixed up and almost no time - plus it was a one trip fix. Great family practice. Love the location even if it's a bit of a drive. I love that they have old-school perfectly functioning tables that you hug onto and it lays you down which means you're not hurting to getting on/off the table. Dr Tyler Wright really took the time to listen to what was going on with me. I had a couple of different things going on between numbness, shocking sensation and nerve pain in my right arm post surgery, chronic neck and right scapula pain. I was visiting from Chicago with my family and had a month prior pulled a muscle in my neck that two Chiropractors in my hometown had a lot of trouble relieving. After the flight it started acting up again on my left shoulder. Two sessions here made the trip tremendously better, and months later, it hasn't acted up since. I don't know what he did to adjust my neck, but he wasn't scared to just rip into it, without a BS X-Ray, and took his time allowing 20 minutes of ice followed by another minor adjustment which I think was key. His fairly sophisticated table also allowed a good angle of adjustment to the hips. I don't remember which Chiropractor I saw, Robert or James, but I've been to a few Chiropractors and physical therapists and they were the best. I joke with my wife we should visit Austin more often...suffering from AS, it'd improve my quality of life that much. I haven't found anybody in Chicago that doesn't seem to be just focused on upcharging services or products. This place tried to sell me *nothing* each time I walked out the door. read more

I pinched a synovial flap between T2 and T3. I don't know what I did to cause it, but I can think of a dozen things I did to make it worse. I wake up with my traps locked so hard I can't move my head, can barely think from the pain. My massage therapist Christa Daszko loosens me up enough I can move it a little and hurt less, sends me to the Wrights. The adjustments work some but the inflammation's so bad he mentions steroid shots, egad. So I get scrips for a 13-day steroid course, NSAID and a muscle relaxer; between that and twice-a-week adjustments I got better enough that after the drugs I decided I didn't need the adjustments either; left hand recovery relapsed Tuesday, oops. Seeing Dr. Wright again tomorrow. read more

These chiropractors are nothing short of amazing. I showed up there a few years ago, having injured myself practicing yoga (the plow pose -- need I suggest you plz be careful?) I'd gone to my regular physician and he could do nothing, though he did prescribe heavy pain medications -- he knew I was NOT kidding around. The pain literally had me crying. I'd have plenty of experience with various chiropractors and nothing had ever really come of any of it. I think that part of it is that I'm a tall guy and 200 pounds, seems that a lot of chiropractors don't know what to do with that, and they just crank away on me. And I was (and am) quite aware that when someone has my head in their hands in this way that I could be in huge trauma the rest of my life -- I do not take it lightly. But the pain was so intense, I decided to trust a friends recommendation of Wright Chiropractic. I got on that table, explained the pain. Dr. Billy Wright put his hands on my back and neck, told me "Oh yes, here it is." or words to that effect, and went to work. Though the pain was in my neck and radiating down my arm, the problem was in the middle of my back somewhere. I left in no pain, though it was as he told me, that the pain would come back, but less and less after each adjustment. He was dead on the money. Absolutely correct. It took two weeks, or maybe three, of two to three appts weekly. And it was resolved. What was and is so amazing to me is that he put his hands on my back and immediately found the problem. He didn't need an xray. It's like he just knows. Oh, and being big -- no problem. It's not like the guy reefed on me at all to get anything to move; he made the adjustments easily, no straining on his part, thus way less fear on my part. I've been to several chiropractors over the years because of a past back injuries--Dr. Billy Wright is one of the best. He does not require X-rays but instead carefully examines your spine and neck alignment with his hands. His are the most gentle but affective adjustments I've had. After his initial adjustments, he has you rest on your back for about 15-20 minutes to let your back settle. Afterwards, he fine tunes things with another examination of your back. He suggests when you should come see him next but doesn't pressure you into feeling like you have to come see him X numbers of times each week for..... Mornings are for walk-ins; afternoons for appointments. He offices with his father who is also a chiropractor. It's a family run business which I like. Very friendly and, most importantly, he has made my back feel better, more quickly and less expensively, than I've had in ages. read more

Dr. Wright, a third generation chiropractor, treated me after a bicycle accident that left me unable to move for 48 hours. Over the course of several weeks, I was able to regain full movement with out pain. That was almost three years ago, and thanks to his adjustments, I am in less pain than I have been in the last 20 years. I able able to go 6 months between visits now on a as needed basis for a tune up of sorts, and during these 6 month periods feel very little back, shoulder neck and hip pain. This is a miracle to me considering I have suffered from fibromyalgia/chronic body pain for most of my life. I have been to many chiropractors and he is the first to actually make a lasting difference, by finely tuning the alignment of my spine to help teach my body to do the right thing naturally. I can not recommend Wright Chiropractic enough. All of my friends and colleagues know that if they complain of back pain, they will be sent to the best! Lastly, even though he does not take insurance and I have just taken a plan in which chiropractic is covered, the rate he charges is both fair, and nearly identical to the co pay of some of the covered offices. However, even if were FREE to go somewhere else, I wouldn't take the risk of going anywhere else, as I am fully aware not every chiropractor is able to give me the results I get from Dr. Wright. A long, long time ago, someone told me that if I ever needed a chiropractor, I should go to this guy on 12th Street. Having never used a chiropractor, I paid little attention. Then when I did need a chiropractor, a different friend recommended Dr. Wright, on 12th Street. I remembered, and went, and have never been sorry. They don't handle insurance claims, that's your responsibility. This allows them to keep rates low. Walk-ins every morning, appointments can be scheduled in the afternoon only. Closed Wednesday afternoons. It's a family operation. The Dr. Wright I used to see is mostly retired, and his son is my caregiver now. I believe he's the third generation, but possibly fourth. The ladies behind the desk are either his wife or his sister. What I really love is that, after your first adjustment, they take you to a dimly lit room where a row of low padded benches give you a place to lie down. They put a small pillow under your head, and can also provide a bolster for your knees and a blanket if you desire. Quiet music plays, and usually I take a 20-minute nap until I hear Dr. Billy's quiet, "Joy? You wanna come on back to the table?" Then I get a second adjustment, after all my muscles have had a chance to relax from the first one. It makes all the difference in the world! read more

So the Wright Dr's... Billy is the son and is maybe 45 or so. He rides to work with his Dad James each day. The place is unusual by todays standards. It is an old house on 12th street downtown. Sr. has been there for many many years and Billy is third generation Chiropractor. When I go, I show up about 20 minutes before opening time and just sit on the porch swing. No appointment needed in the morning. I have seen father and son arrive together each time. Inside, it is like stepping back in time. They have these crazy old frankenstein tables that are probably 60 years old that allow fractional adjustments and inclines in many directions. They make very very subtle adjustments. These are not typical back crackers. After Dr. Billy felt my neck, he said what was wrong, then looked at my xrays that I brought. He was correct. Herniated disc at c6 and c7. He told me that what he was going to do would cause great pain the days after my visit and then it would be a bit better. Then I would have to return and he would do it again, but each time the pain would be less and less. He did very subtle pushes and pulls then took me back to a napping area that was dark and had deer mounts looking down on me. He came back after about 20 minutes and accessed my condition to make sure there were no ill effects. He helped me up and apologized in advance for the pain I would feel the next day... uhhh right... ok. I had been taking massive quantities of Vicodin for about 40 days. I knew what pain was and it was huge. I figured it was more quackery like all the other Doctors I had visited. The next day I was in pretty intense pain but nothing like when the Anesthesiologist at the sports medicine clinic charged me $2000 to knick my spine with a needle when giving me a steroid epidural. That caused a two day migraine. Damn that was horrible. So I was hurting but was used to the pain. The second day after the visit with Dr. Billy, I awoke and realized I wasn't in pain. It was a new feeling. Pain was there still but it was nothing like the last 45 days. I stood, moved my arms about and cried. It was the first relief I had experienced since the injury. I went back the next day and he repeated the subtle movements but with slight modifications. Again the next day hurt but not as bad. The second following day was again an improvement. It took a week and a half but after that time I felt no pain or problems. This whole procedure with Dr. Wright cost me about $300. I had already spent $7000 before with other doctors and several chiropractor hacks that were referred to as the best of the best. I hugged Dr. Billy and his dad and vowed to spread the word. They dont take insurance and that is fine with me, because they just charge a fair fee for the time they spend healing. read more

Wonderful chiropractor. I saw Billy for the first time about a year and a half ago. He help just make some normal adjustments. I was training for a marathon and I knew it did a number on my body. I then went back recently to see him after a recent car accident. He was done wonders for my back and neck area. I notice instant relief after my visit, even when it's accompanied w/ some aches and pains from the adjustment. I even had my husband go in after a constant back pain he kept having.
