Came here for a leg wax. The place doesn't look sanitary enough for a Brazilian one, especially since its the one they heavily advertise for $15. Quick and painless procedure, but their methods worried me. No gloves used, not sure if she used hand sanitizer beforehand. They used a roller to put on the wax, but never sanitized the roller from whoever used it before me. And the LOUD conversations between the two rooms. I mean, I get that the employees want to talk to each other, but is it really necessary to scream between the two room?? I've been here twice. First time was decent, nothing mind blowing customer service-wise or quality of work. I work nearby so going there during lunch hours are pretty quiet and they're the cheapest in the area. Since my last experience was fair I decided to go again. This time after work, big mistake. Keep in mind they only have 2 chairs so the wait is inevitable if you're a 9-5. The wait wasn't a big deal, definitely expected. I waited my time patiently and the wait was longer than normal because they were pushing the whole eyebrow tinting service. Because this process required the product to sit in it took longer. Ok great so it's finally my turn, and decided to do the eyebrow tinting as well. Here's where my experience turned for the worst. The lady who helped me was actually nice, she completed the threading then she applied the eyebrow tint, she momentarily walked away. As that occurred, another employee asked me to move from the seat so that another customer could be helped. Mind you, I'm a extremely patient and passive person, not the "let me see your manager" type of attitude. So I got up, knowing my service wasn't complete with this eyebrow tint gunk still on my face. The biggest annoyance is that other customers were not asked to get up, just lucky old me. I waited patiently as everyone had their turn but I was asked to make room for someone else. Maybe I dressed too casually or they just thought I wasn't important enough. I won't bring race into this but I did notice the type of clientele that received what seemed to be preferential treatment. Imagine being asked to get up for someone else in the middle of getting your eyebrows done!! I'll never go back again, I'll happily pay more where they treat you fairly. So it's back to Unique Threading Salon on 23rd. Oh just a few additional turn offs about this place... 1. People love getting Brazilians here and it's a very small shop. I happened to come in when someone's BO engulfed the entire shop. 2. Maybe tell your customers you're about to apply alcohol after threading! Def a surprise sting when you're not told prior to. (Alcohol was applied because tinting service was chosen) 3. Because the eyebrow tint was applied after threading, the open pores from the removed hair is filled by the eyebrow tint residue. So it looks like small blackheads. I should've opted out. 4. Eyebrows could be more even and the work could be cleaner. I ended up having to get the neglected stragglers with a tweezer. They also didn't trim with scissors likely because I was rushed out of my seat. Again the lady who helped me was actually pretty nice. But overall customer service here definitely picks and chooses who they go an extra mile for. read more

So this place is dirty.I went to thread my eyebrows. You enter and you can get a clear view of an open toilet, they do not shut the door.They just did my eyebrows and all the hair was stuck on my face- they did not bother to remove it. Also she shaped one eyebrow and the other one she just left because she was getting late for another client. The lady was constantly talking to someone and after doing half an eyebrow decided to put a toilet roll in the restroom. Totally understand that its cheap BUT it needs to be clean and professional. I've been here a few times already, they get the job done very quickly, which is alright guess. It almost seems like they worry a lot more about the amount of people they get to serve, rather the quality in which they provide the service. It wasn't until today that I got a new lady, NKKY which did an AMAZINGGGGGG job! She took the time to actually converse to distract me from the pain of getting the Brazilian done, she was very detailed oriented, dedicated, and more importantly, gentle. Let me start off by saying this, for a 15 dollar Brazilian wax, you get what you pay for. I first came in the winter time and although I wasn't impressed, the service was exceptional and it got the job done. It wasn't super clean or super unsanitary, it was just ok. However today was the worst experience ever. There are two floors in the studio and the 2nd floor is very dirty and under supplied. Then again you are paying 15-30 dollars for a Brazilian wax so I'll let that slide. Due to the fact it was crowded she did not prep my skin. During my wax other staff members were in and out of the room--super unprofessional. And to top that all off she put babyoil after and now my vagina is super red and irritated. It hurts so much. I read good reviews here about WOW threading studio and was excited to have treatment, but I was totally disappointed. I guess sitting on a chair and getting threading service may be good, but the room for waxing and facial treatment was not clean. When I was asked my clothes off and got a robe, that was dirty. There was a big brown stain and felt like didn't wash for a while. and when I tried to find somewhere to put my clothes and looked under the bed, there were lots of unfold dirty towels.. And the steam machine had hundreds of visible finger prints and some little dusts were hanging down from the place steam coming from.... These things were totally turned me off. People working here were nice but I need more cleanliness. Yes it was affordable price but I don't want to pay any money if I feel disgusting. I need to find another place... read more

This is my first review of the Chocolate Brazilian, and all I have to say is that my waxing experience was not the most sanitary. There are bits of wax and hair on the walls. My beautician used only two wax cloths for the entire service and one wooden spatula for the entire procedure. I was in pain after my wax which is a first for me even after a long period of time. The entire procedure felt rushed and I was left with small abrasions after my wax. The only positive part of this experience was that the beautician was personable and was nice to me as she tried to take part of my skin off with her unsanitary procedure. read more

I'm not a bad review kind of person but the amount of pain I have been in since I left getting a wax here has me FURIOUS! the fact The Who ever did my wax showed no interest in wanting to do the wax , to how hot the wax was when it was put on me to how PAINFUL it was when she was removing the hair not even soothing my tender skin . I was bleeding in multiple areas on my lady parts with unknown bumps starting to form even in my butt area. Despite the very friendly and kind service, the Brazilian wax I received was just not good. When I asked for a strip to be left on the pubic region instead of an entire Brazilian, the result was depressing. The form was on the side and uneven. I proceeded to go with an entire Brazilian to erase the sad Chia pet, but there were still little hairs left. In other salons I have had these hairs removed with tweezers or by threading. The end just result didn't feel very clean. Also, the wax room was very dirty with tissues and papers on the ground. Came here for a leg wax after purchasing a $15 groupon. The lady who took care of me was extremely rough and too quick. I've gotten leg waxes before and I have to say this was the most painful experience, ever! She was sweet and all but just kept pulling too rough. Left my legs RED! And the worst part was that she missed a bunch of spots. Very uneven job. But for $15 you get what you pay for. But not even worth it if you ask me. For the price, I truly think it's unbeatable. With that being said, you get what you pay for. Don't expect to come out absolutely smooth. Waxes are around 5 minutes so they sometimes do miss certain spots, not sections so nothing to stress too much. The chocolate wax is not hard wax so be prepared for strips. They took me anyway and did a great job and the prices are the best in Manhattan. I am Brazilian but their "Brazilian wax" is certainly not. It was the most painful, horrible and unpolite service I have ever received in my entire life. First, they don't prepare your skin at all to receive the wax, after they re-use the paper several times and keep trying to wax the same areas, are extremely hard when touching you and doing the service. My skin now is completely red, sensitive, and with bruises for the way they grabbed my skin. Horrible and would NEVER do it again, even for the cheap price, it is totally not worth it and it was by far my worst experience on this (repeating, I am Brazilian and have done this in several places, with several people for several years in my life, and I have never experienced such a bad and harsh service). Actually, the prices are so low that I always end up getting 4 or 5 things done when I go in. I've gone to this salon twice, both times for a chocolate brazilian. I bought a groupon for $15. The first time I went, I paid with the groupon. They gave me a card that I would show on all my next visits so that I would only pay $15 moving forward, just for finding them on groupon. When I went on my second visit, they actually acknowledged the card and even asked me for it before I took it out. I think this shows their honest business-running morals. Both occasions I had different girls servicing me but they both did great. Quick and effective, they even gave me a break so that I could soak in all the pain. Overall, I think the place is great and clean. The girls wash their hands after every session. And the waiting time is reasonable. 100% recommend! read more

I really like this place! I've been coming here for a few months to get a Brazilian wax and eyebrows threaded. For Manhattan, the prices are SO affordable. It was only $15 for a wax (I had a living social deal but it's still $30 normally) and $5 for eyebrow threading. The staff is so nice and sweet and they are really quick and efficient with both services. The place is really small and not very decorated, however I don't really care about that, just the services, cleanliness, and professionalism of the staff. They are also the only place I've gotten a wax so I have nowhere to compare but it only hurt a little bit and finished in about five minutes!! read more

Went in for a waxing I don't know who I got by she was pretty good. She was nice, personable. She waxed as quickly as possible, when I asked for a quick minute to recover from the pain before she continued she listened! I haven't been waxed in over a year and I appreciated that when I told her she didn't have to go over the area more than once she listened again!! She was kind enough to be aware of the temp of the wax and was sanitary about it too, no double dips. So I'd give her 4or 5 stars. The place was a bit of a hole in the wall. The wax room is small and plain, don't look very clean but I wasn't going to be touching everything or lick the walls. What I was laying on was good enough for me. It's the only reason for less stars. 3or 3 1/2 tops. They gave me a card for frequent visits at a locked price which was nice.
