I've been here before and I've never had an issue. About a month ago I went to the same girl to get my eyebrows threaded. As usual, my request was eyebrows that are not thin with an arch. I even brought a photo of myself with the eyebrow shape and thickness that I wanted. When she was done I was shocked to see these pencil thin eyebrows. When I expressed my disappointment her response was; "well your eyebrows grow back fast." But guess what?! It's a month later and they're still not back!!!!! read more

i got the groupon deal for 3 chocolate waxes. first time was okay. Went to the baldwin location. The lady had to go back in with a threading to get the little hairs.. and that HURT!!! but i mean it was threading.. She didn't double dipped at all. 2nd time i went to freeport. It was okay. she broke the sticks in half and didn't double dipped. 3rd time was great. Everything was clean. Although she double dipped. Over all, is okay. Good for the groupon price. I did the switch from wax after stumbling across a salon on vacation. The way that woman threaded my eyebrows was short of a masterpiece. I never knew *my* eyebrows could look that good. Ever since then I have searched everywhere, hole in the walls, Champaign serving salons, mall kiosks in the search of that "perfect" eyebrow I once had. I have been to Zip Zap twice. The first time was a pleasant experience. The woman was very nice but I ended up with 2 very different eyebrows. I let them grow back and tried them again with a new woman. I will say this... The woman gave me EXACTLY what I asked for. My eyebrows look exactly like the picture I gave her. She took her time and was meticulous about my brows, so 5 stars for that. I'm going to tell you what I really wasn't digging. Spare me the attitude and rolling of the eyes when I tell you what I want. Everyone's an artist... I get it, just listen to my concerns, really...it can't hurt. She at one point told me the shape I was asking for didn't fit my face, then when she was finished said my eyebrows looked amazing (and they do). I went here to get a Brazilian chocolate wax and all was fine until she started. The lady didn't close the door when she did the wax and did a horrible job she left so much hair. Wouldn't recommend she tried to rush the job. I went to the Flatbush location, so maybe the other locations do a better job. I was told that I could just come in before 6:30 and I didn't need an appointment and when I got there she asked if I had an appointment I told her no that I was told I didn't need one and she said ok well next time make one. Visited this threading salon for the first time about two years ago to get my eyebrows done. It was (and still is) very clean. I lived in Freeport at the time so I just picked it at random since it was nearby. I fell in LOVE with how great my eyebrows came out. Menuka did exactly what I asked of her, "I want them as thick as possible with an arch." I was leaving for the Army at the time, when I returned a year later, she remembered me and said "hey long time no see!" How great is that? To be remembered after only being a first time guest. I live in Mineola, about 30 minutes from the Freeport location and with plenty of threading salons along Hillside just 5 minutes from me, I'd rather drive here to get my eyebrows fleek'd by Menuka. I don't let anyone else do my eyebrows, she has the magic touch! She also tints my eyebrows for me biweekly, they come out looking very natural and yet full.5. She makes great conversation. I could tell that she's being genuine when she makes recommendations. I just started doing a full bikini wax and underarm waxing with Menuka, it was my first time waxing and she made it very comfortable, prompted me on which areas would hurt more. She also gave me lots of tips on how to lighten my scars from previous razor bumps and how to prevent them. She's a great person overall, such a sweetheart. Zipzap has a points reward system so I save a lot of money on eyebrows tints, threading and waxing. *** Menuka only works Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays! She uses the first chair when you walk in. In her (not sure of her name) defense I probably should've given instruction... My eyebrows aren't the thickest but they aren't "thin". I get my eyebrows threaded every three weeks so the shape is pretty easy to decipher. I thought she'd just "clean up" the hairs that fell outside my brow line... She went IN... Not sure why. I did my brazilian in zip zap threading salon and my experience was best with rose in baldwin location she did very organized ,neat and sanitize using different sticks no double dip . I went in around noon during a weekday. I told the girls that i saw on yelp they had a 25% off for new customers. At first they didnt know what i was talking about and said that it was probably for certain days. After some back and forth they finally said ok and i did my eyebrows. I have been hearing nothing but good reviews about threading at this place. I finally came to this place because I wanted my eyes brows shaped. I haven't gotten my eyebrows done in a while because I wanted it to be thicker. I told the lady the arch I wanted and that it needed to be thick (that was the whole purpose of me walking around looking like wolf lady for over a month). She said ok I understand, she even showed me in the mirror of what she was going to do to my brows to just confirm. I was excited. 10 mins later I looked at the mirror and I had a very thin line and no arch, I could literally count how many hairs I had on each eyebrow. I started crying she look at me and said " you don't like it? " umm miss where are my eye brows? the whole point was the thickness and arch which in this case both was missing a long with my actually eyebrows. Overall I will never go back. Now I have to wait to Winter to get me eyes done again and the sad thing is its not even summer yet. read more

I went to Zip Zap for the first time today and I have officially switched threading salons! I wish I asked for her name (but she works Fridays and Saturdays) and she was absolutely excellent and very friendly. She took the time to give me a proper consultation - the areas of concern, showed me how she will shape it and the areas that I need to ensure I don't touch. I also told her some threading salons make my eyebrows too thin which I do not like, and she definitely listened and didn't change the thinness of my brow. Her execution was exactly how she explained. Unlike other salons, this eyebrow threading was not 3 minutes and done. I appreciated her taking her time while there were other people waiting for her. Since my eyebrow experience was great, I did need a lip wax as well. I told her how the skin above my lip is VERY sensitive, so she suggested the chocolate wax. My lip is definitely not as red and I have zero breakouts from it which has never happened before. If I could give them 10 stars I would, I was VERY pleased with my experience and will be back there consistency! read more

Zip Zap is truly a DIAMOND in the rough! I have been to 20 different salons from Manhattan to Long Island and Zip Zap is my home! The salon is very vibrant, modern, and clean! As soon as you walk through the door you are welcomed by everyone in the salon! You simply write down your name, what services you want to get done, and an artist if there is one in particular that you want to do it. The maximum wait time is no more than 10 minutes on any given day! The artists are very thorough and fast! Ruhni, from my experience is the BEST! She has a heart of gold and is sooo talented at what she does. She has done my FULL Chocolate Brazilian wax, Chocolate under arms wax, and eyebrow and lip threading! Back up! Yes! I did say Chocolate Brazilian Wax! Zip Zap has an awesome special where you purchase and own your own personal jar of Chocolate Wax (never used by one else and the jar has enough wax for a year) at a set price (not expensive at all but don't want to quote the wrong price) and each time after your 1st Choco Brazilain it is only $35 for a full Brazilian wax! Okay back to Ruhni! I showed Ruhni a photo of the exact eyebrows that I wanted and whoola.. my eyebrows mirrored the exact picture! Ruhni also explained to me that in time and with every 2 to 3 week care, my eyebrows will train themselves to shape the way I want them to! She then followed the threading with witch hazel which immediately soothes the skin. I also got my upper lip threaded which was so quick I didn't have enough time to be in pain. Now.. the Chocolate Brazilian Wax! The wax room is spotless and is just as vibrant as the rest of the salon. Ruhni prepared the heating of the chocolate wax before the threading to ensure that it was hot enough when she began the wax. For those of you who are shy to be naked in front of a stranger.. trust me! Ruhni makes you feel so comfortable as if shes known you for years or as if she is your sister! She talks to you the entire time as she waxes and literally ask you how do you feel or am I comfortable every 30 seconds! Which I love because she shows her compassion and that she truly cares about her clients! She turns her back while you undress and waits patiently and ask you to lay on the clean wax bed. Ruhni ensures to only dip the stick once in the Choco Wax (no double dipping) , blows on the wax, applies it gently, then waaalaaa its gone! The Chocalate Underarm Wax lasted all of 2 minutes and was painless! Ruhni's technique is so professional and so perfect she never missed a single hair. She waxes in one direction and does not tug on your skin! Painless! She literally got every single single strand of hair from front to back! Runhi triple checks her work to ensure she is giving you her best work! Once she's finished she wipes the waxed areas with witch hazel to sooth the skin and leave you feeling clean! Her skills are unmatched and she has beyond perfected her craft! Once the Brazilian Wax is complete you simply dress yourself and pay at the front counter. I don't write reviews but I just hated this place so much I needed to warn people. Don't go here for a wax! Hurts so badly. I have been waxing (Brazilian) for a while and know how painful they can be but this was more than that, it was torture. My waxer didn't show much concern for my pain. She kept using the same dirty strips to rip of the wax which made it hurt even more. On top of that she didn't even do the BRAZILIAN wax correctly. She basically just gave me a bikini wax. Very annoying. I didn't say anything because I don't think I could've handled another second of it. I get its not the most glamorous job but you're handling a sensitive area you should at the very least try to handle it with care, not like you're ripping the hair off someone's eyebrows. I will never come back here again. Also just as a side note I work in customer service and my mom is a cosmetologist so I always leave a tip even if I'm not 100% satisfied with the service because I understand that tips are a lot of the income. did not leave a tip for the first time in my life because THATS how disgusted I was with the service. I haven't taken my kids (teenagers 15 and 18) anywhere else but we went there based on the reviews. So far awesome!! Wait is never long....staff is always friendly...and price from what I've heard is great I almost always pay and tip in cash so wondering if my technician is getting her tip has never been an issue. I was interested in a facial, I spoke with the owner lisa over the phone she was so informative. She let me know exactly what facial i should go with per my skin concerns and she was spot on. She also suggested two products that they sell in the salon which would help with my skin concern, and let me tell you the products are already working. Jhoti did my facial she was very good, she took her time and gave me a lot of tips to maintain good skin care after my facial. She also did my brows and I love the way they came out. I used to go here to get my eyes brows done all the time. i STOPPED BECAUSE I Received a Brazilian wax for the second time here but this time I got it from my eyebrow lady who said she knew how to do it. It was $50. It hurt so bad, she was pulling and tugging in all directions. I can tolerate pain after a while so I guess I was numb. When she was done OMG I was swollen and it looked liked she did some of the inside- The part that has no hair!!! 1-2 days later I went to the doctor who said I had an infection and gave me a perscription for it. It was not anything you could die from nor an std just some iritation. I called the owner and explained what happened. She offered me my money back and I went to get it. She apologized. I am tramatized !!!! I went to get laser hair removal and its so much better,it did hurt but I do not get any in-growns and very light hair grows back after 6 treatments. read more
