Human kindness and compassion. I was not just one more business deposit or a number in their charts. I was a human with a heart, thoughts, and a life that mattered. Every time I enter their office, I am greeted with a smile, they remember who I am, and show genuine care. In their online client portal, each patient has a chart it asks questions like what your favorite hobby or color. They care to know more than just business and braces. I wish more companies and organizations worked like this. Their philosophy is that everyone should have an equal opportunity at a beautiful smile, and so they do not require a deposit and their monthly payments are as low as $130 per month. I had only dreamed of having braces in the past because it was too expensive and living in Santa Cruz County is too expensive even with a college degree, plus I am a single parent. Because their prices were affordable and there was no down deposit, I was able to get braces for me and my daughter who is in middle school. We both went in for an evaluation on the same day and got braces together. Our self-confidence has increased when it comes to smiling brightly. I see my daughter smiling more often and now I know why. P.S the staff is very funny as well. :)

Unfortunately, the front office experience, specifically with Alma (the receptionist), has been consistently unpleasant. On multiple occasions, she has been dismissive and rude when I've asked legitimate questions about costs and the "retainers for life" program. After paying over $2,000 for my son's treatment, I was told I needed to pay an additional $800, so naturally, I wanted clarification. Instead of a helpful explanation, I received an attitude as if I was bothering her or asking something unreasonable. Her tone, body language, and lack of patience made me feel disrespected and uncomfortable -- This is also not the first time. In the past she had been calling me "hun" or "honey" in a condescending way, which was inappropriate given her attitude when I simply had questions. Because of this, I ultimately chose not to move forward with any upgrade services this time. It's unfortunate because the clinical team is excellent, but experiences like this make a lasting impression. People remember how they're treated, especially at the start and end of care, and this interaction really overshadowed an otherwise great experience. I also get it, it's hard working in customer service but it's not right to treat anyone this way or even just a few people (like me and others once in a while). I really hope MBO Salinas calls me to validate my concerns and maybe answer questions I was left unanswered because I still don't understand the service I am still interested in and need.
