Disappointed by Front Office Experience…read more The orthodontist and back staff at MBO Orthodontics in Salinas are truly great -- kind, professional, and attentive. Unfortunately, the front office experience, specifically with Alma (the receptionist), has been consistently unpleasant. On multiple occasions, she has been dismissive and rude when I've asked legitimate questions about costs and the "retainers for life" program. After paying over $2,000 for my son's treatment, I was told I needed to pay an additional $800, so naturally, I wanted clarification. Instead of a helpful explanation, I received an attitude as if I was bothering her or asking something unreasonable. Her tone, body language, and lack of patience made me feel disrespected and uncomfortable -- This is also not the first time. In the past she had been calling me "hun" or "honey" in a condescending way, which was inappropriate given her attitude when I simply had questions. Because of this, I ultimately chose not to move forward with any upgrade services this time. It's unfortunate because the clinical team is excellent, but experiences like this make a lasting impression. People remember how they're treated, especially at the start and end of care, and this interaction really overshadowed an otherwise great experience. I also get it, it's hard working in customer service but it's not right to treat anyone this way or even just a few people (like me and others once in a while). I really hope MBO Salinas calls me to validate my concerns and maybe answer questions I was left unanswered because I still don't understand the service I am still interested in and need.

He wanted to file down the tips of my two front teeth. I thought he would use a ruler to measure to get it even but he just eyeballed it. I now have one tooth a slight shorter than the other. At the time, he told me that eventually they would even out...humm....yah...right. He is a wonderful orthodontist but this was a quick procedure that I think was not considered thoroughly by him. I came originally to get braces for a more even mouth after all. He could have been more exact but instead brushed over my concern and now my two front teeth are uneven. I see this every time I look in the mirror and will continue to for the rest of my life....sigh. My family did pay in advance for the braces so it would have been appreciated if he would have been more thorough at the end.

She was kind, gentle, and took the time to make sure I was comfortable throughout the entire appointment. Instead of feeling like just another patient, I felt like someone she genuinely cared about. She was incredibly thorough, but everything she did was done with such a gentle touch that it honestly felt more like a spa treatment than a dental cleaning. I walked out with my teeth feeling incredibly clean and a smile on my face because the whole experience was so much better than I expected. Everyone at Next Dentistry was friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. If you've ever been nervous about going to the dentist, this is the place to go. And if you have the chance to see Candy, consider yourself lucky. She made what is usually my least favorite appointment one that I'm actually looking forward to next time.

Human kindness and compassion. I was not just one more business deposit or a number in their charts. I was a human with a heart, thoughts, and a life that mattered. Every time I enter their office, I am greeted with a smile, they remember who I am, and show genuine care. In their online client portal, each patient has a chart it asks questions like what your favorite hobby or color. They care to know more than just business and braces. I wish more companies and organizations worked like this. Their philosophy is that everyone should have an equal opportunity at a beautiful smile, and so they do not require a deposit and their monthly payments are as low as $130 per month. I had only dreamed of having braces in the past because it was too expensive and living in Santa Cruz County is too expensive even with a college degree, plus I am a single parent. Because their prices were affordable and there was no down deposit, I was able to get braces for me and my daughter who is in middle school. We both went in for an evaluation on the same day and got braces together. Our self-confidence has increased when it comes to smiling brightly. I see my daughter smiling more often and now I know why. P.S the staff is very funny as well. :)

DO NOT COME HERE. After what I personally witnessed while helping my girlfriend through her…read moretreatment, I would never trust AccuDental Salinas with someone I care about. My girlfriend paid approximately $4,000 IN FULL for wisdom tooth treatment that she STILL HAS NOT RECEIVED. I personally helped her schedule and confirm these appointments, drove/accompanied her through this process, and even called the office myself to verify appointment times. This was not a simple misunderstanding. Her first wisdom tooth surgery was scheduled for 6:00 AM. She showed up as instructed, waited, and the procedure was canceled approximately 30 minutes AFTER she arrived. She was eventually scheduled the other side of her mouth August 1 at 10:00 AM. She arrived around 9:50 AM and waited over 40 minutes -- NOT ONE EMPLOYEE SHOWED UP. No receptionist, assistant, or provider. Nobody. She was completely stood up for a SURGICAL PROCEDURE that had already been paid for. I want to emphasize that I PERSONALLY CALLED TO CONFIRM THIS APPOINTMENT. She also confirmed it herself and arranged approved time away from work specifically for the procedure. We did everything we could to make sure there was no confusion, yet she still arrived for surgery and found an empty office. The required CT scan was mishandled too. The Salinas office repeatedly told both of us that her appointment at the Gilroy location was July 31 at 9:00 AM. She arrived at 9:00 only to find out Gilroy didn't even open until 9:15 and Salinas had actually put her down for 12:00 PM. Thankfully, the Gilroy staff were professional enough to accommodate her anyway. And now comes the part that makes this whole experience even worse: AccuDental still has the approximately $4,000 she paid for a surgery they never performed. She has called and emailed requesting her money back, and nobody will respond or return her calls. I have watched her repeatedly try to get this resolved. At this point, seeing a medical office accept thousands of dollars, fail to provide the paid-for surgery, and then fail to communicate about returning the money is absolutely unacceptable. As her partner and someone who personally participated in confirming these appointments, I witnessed how badly this was handled. Watching her take time away from work and repeatedly show up as instructed only to be canceled on or literally stood up was ridiculous. DO NOT PAY THIS OFFICE IN FULL BEFORE RECEIVING YOUR SERVICE. Based on what I personally witnessed, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere, especially if you need a surgical procedure. We are now considering legal action just to recover money paid for a surgery that was never performed. I will gladly update this review if AccuDental finally responds and returns her money.
