Disappointed by Front Office Experience…read more The orthodontist and back staff at MBO Orthodontics in Salinas are truly great -- kind, professional, and attentive. Unfortunately, the front office experience, specifically with Alma (the receptionist), has been consistently unpleasant. On multiple occasions, she has been dismissive and rude when I've asked legitimate questions about costs and the "retainers for life" program. After paying over $2,000 for my son's treatment, I was told I needed to pay an additional $800, so naturally, I wanted clarification. Instead of a helpful explanation, I received an attitude as if I was bothering her or asking something unreasonable. Her tone, body language, and lack of patience made me feel disrespected and uncomfortable -- This is also not the first time. In the past she had been calling me "hun" or "honey" in a condescending way, which was inappropriate given her attitude when I simply had questions. Because of this, I ultimately chose not to move forward with any upgrade services this time. It's unfortunate because the clinical team is excellent, but experiences like this make a lasting impression. People remember how they're treated, especially at the start and end of care, and this interaction really overshadowed an otherwise great experience. I also get it, it's hard working in customer service but it's not right to treat anyone this way or even just a few people (like me and others once in a while). I really hope MBO Salinas calls me to validate my concerns and maybe answer questions I was left unanswered because I still don't understand the service I am still interested in and need.

He wanted to file down the tips of my two front teeth. I thought he would use a ruler to measure to get it even but he just eyeballed it. I now have one tooth a slight shorter than the other. At the time, he told me that eventually they would even out...humm....yah...right. He is a wonderful orthodontist but this was a quick procedure that I think was not considered thoroughly by him. I came originally to get braces for a more even mouth after all. He could have been more exact but instead brushed over my concern and now my two front teeth are uneven. I see this every time I look in the mirror and will continue to for the rest of my life....sigh. My family did pay in advance for the braces so it would have been appreciated if he would have been more thorough at the end.

The non Accu dental dentist looked at the exact same x-ray that was emailed over from Salinas Accu dental and they said I have no cavity and that They don't know what they were talking about. Also, amongst dentists and other people I have talked to Salinas Accu dental has a reputation for charging patients for procedures and treatments they don't need from cavities to crowns. They're violating their medical oath by causing harm. if you want to gamble with your money go there if they say you need a crown or a filling for a cavity I would highly recommend getting a different opinion not from the Accu dental chain i've had terrible luck with them and I am regretting having done business with them

The front desk staff is courteous and helpful They make the visit relaxing when checking in. In recent years, I have had a partial bridge and a few crowns completed. They have an in-house ceramic tooth builder and it is great when you are trying to do a one-visit replacement. They give honest recommendations on the health of my teeth. I think the best recommendation was going back to a really good electric toothbrush. They sell one through their office for a nominal fee, but it is really worth and there is a $20 rebate. I would highly recommend my hygienist, Elizabeth A., as she is great doing her job and getting all that plaque off of my teeth.
