I'll be honest--walking into a new dental office made me a little nervous, but Darci (the assistant) was so warm and welcoming. She gave me a quick little tour and totally helped ease my nerves. It honestly felt like visiting a friend's office! Dr. Goldman was amazing--super knowledgeable and took the time to go over everything with me. She even complimented the onlays and veneers I had done previously, which made me feel like she really noticed the details. AJ, my hygienist, was also fantastic. He was so professional and made me feel completely at ease while taking my oral records. He asked thoughtful questions about my dental habits and even gave me a few helpful flossing tips I hadn't heard before. Plus, the office is beautiful and fully equipped with modern technology and little touches that remind me of my old dentist's place (which I loved). It's also super convenient with my work schedule--huge bonus! If you're looking for a dental office that's professional and personal, I highly recommend Salinas Valley Dental Care. I've had to go back in twice since having the work done to be checked out. The first time they corrected my bite and the dentist re- drilled to correct it. The whole time he was drilling the shavings were going to the back of my throat, and I was choking he said oh it's just teeth dust lol Also, most of the reception women are very friendly, but every time I speak to Natalie she is so rude and seems like she hates her job. Once I get this problem corrected, I will not be returning to Salinas valley Dental care, sadly. I feel like the staff is overwhelmed because they're taking them more patients than they can handle. Also, the office seems to be following apart their exam rooms have paint peeling off the walls and stained ceiling tiles.

There is little to no wait time upon arriving at our scheduled appointments. Appointments are quick and easy. Every single staff member we engaged with is warm and knowledgeable. A huge win for us is that our kids (11, 8 - we hope to get our 4 year old in soon) all feel really comfortable and at ease when being seen here. We've seen all the dentists and they're all equally great! Their team is always up front and transparent with their findings and if there's any intervention needed, we never feel forced into anything and the front desk is always happy to give pricing/quotes while explaining exactly what's getting billed for. Our 11 year old recently had to get 4 extractions (due to having a small mouth and ortho requested to get them extracted) and Dr. Coe was the GOAT. It was our son's first experience at the dentist for extractions and general anesthesia, and he said he didn't feel anything at all! Dr. Coe (and the whole staff honestly) walked us through everything, made our son feel safe, secure, and seen. What more can you ask for? We anticipate being part of the practice for many many years!

I have made a couple of runs at seeking care in Carmel and Monterey, but each time it was made clear that I was not "their kind of patient." The fancy dentists seem to be looking for patients who will have their teeth cleaned twice a year, and maybe get a filling or a crown once in a while. That's not me. Today I finally gathered my courage and went in to see Dr. Abbas at Dr. Wetzel's practice in Salinas. I was terrified. Needlessly, as it turns out. Dr. Abbas and the staff were super kind, calming and non judgemental. They were also very organized and competent. Within a half hour Dr. Abbas laid out a number of treatment plans for me, explained each in detail, and left me to make my own decision. I cannot recommend Dr. Wetzel's practice enough. I went to see Dr. Washburn for a one-time cleaning appointment due to my regular dentist not having…read moreany availability. As soon as I got seen, the dental assistant at the time began to berate me about my drinking choices after I told them I like to drink tea. She scolded me for about five minutes about this and spoke to me as if I was a little child. When Dr. Washburn came in to look at my teeth he started accusing me of not having gone to the dentist in years. I explained that I had been to the dentist the year prior and hadn't been back because of covid. He refused to believe that I had a tumor removed in my jaw and when I tried explaining the procedure I had he told me that I must've just been confused. Then, for some reason, he started explaining how I appeared to "look like a person who did not understand math" (I had no idea what this had to do with my teeth- he was rambling odd things like this during the whole check up). For reference, I am a 21-year-old woman so this came off very sexist. After looking at my teeth for a few minutes he told me that "at the rate I was going, he might as well have me molded for dentures" at that appointment. There is nothing wrong with my teeth at all. He then went on to claim that he found 7-8 cavities. He could not give me an exact number, nor could he tell me exactly where the cavities were located. When I asked him for the specifics, he became defensive and said "I am not lying, you can tell from when I cleaned your teeth that I am not lying". I had not once outwardly accused him of lying and was just trying to get more clarification about the cavities. His response pretty much told me that he was indeed lying. During the check-up, the assistant kept chiming in from across the room that Dr. Washburn missed cavities (there was no way she could see from that far) and he would go back and claim to find another cavity. The whole interaction between them two felt very scripted. While he was cleaning my teeth his hand kept slipping and he cut my gums several times. My gums were sore for days after the appointment which is something that has never happened before. After my appointment, I contacted my regular dentist and after checking my teeth he concluded that I had no cavities. It was clear on the x-rays that I had no cavities. I would never recommend this dentist's office to anyone. They lied about me having 8 cavities, were rude, and very very rough.
