On June 24th, 2004 I had my appointment for a root canal and Dr. Racek reminded me about possible outcomes and also reassured me that the procedure wouldn't hurt and ya know what?!? He was right. He applied the gel that numbed the area for the needle and told me I'd feel a little poke but I felt nothing at all. The last 2 injections I felt a teeny bit but that's not even worth mentioning here. (Although as you can see, I did mention it here.) They let the anesthesia set in and soon Dr. Racek began his work. His calm and confidence rested easily on my mind, and he'd reassure me telling me things were going well. The 2 gals that assisted him showed perfection at their own jobs and they worked together supremely well. All 3 of them, really. I was told the procedure could last an hour to an hour and a half, but with the expertise and the perfectly scripted requirements of each of their positions, they were done in just over half an hour. I was in awe, dumbfounded and amazed at the end of it. Done so soon? Wow! Not to mention I was very happy, too. Back at home the anesthesia wore off after a bit and I had no pain at all. I made an appointment with dr Healy because I was in SO much pain it was unbearable. Despite being terrified of the procedure and dentists in general I slowly made my way into the office. Dr Healy was amazing. He was very confident that he would not only take away my pain but make sure the procedure was painless as well. There were some rough spots but it was to be expected. I was in bad shape to begin with. I'm glad I made the decision to see him and he even called me the next day to see how I was doing and to remind me to make sure I take ibuprofen and my penicillin around the clock. I had gone to another dentist who advised me that if a dental practice is in your insurance network they are contractually obligated to charge an in-network amount! Dr. Zuroff has such great experience and decided that he would like to save the tooth opposed to extraction and replacement.
