This clinic for the Madison College massage program is your answer. Appointments are hard to come by and you are limited to four per semester if you're lucky enough to snag them, but you get a full hour in a relaxing environment. I haven't had a ton of massages, but both of the students I've seen over the last year have blown the professionals I've visited out of the water for half the price. When I first signed up for a massage here I pictured a more clinical/classroom-like setting. In reality, they've really tried to make it as much like a typical massage place as possible. There's lots of soothing music, muted shades of tan and taupe, wall sconces, baskets of decorative knick-knacks, etc. Where things get different is that you may have an instructor pop in on your session to observe or offer guidance; I've had this happen once in six visits (but that was when I was super jacked up and was probably one of the more challenging cases of the day). You also fill out an evaluation form after, but that takes only a minute or two. I've come in seeking more therapy than relaxation and the therapists I've had have been game for for concentrating on my problem areas instead of sticking to a full body massage or just integrating what they're working on that week. My most recent trips have had some nice practice perks like aromatherapy and hot towels at no additional cost. Due to the lower cost I was able to visit several times with only a couple weeks in between and build on the work done for some huge knots to the point they've almost disappeared. I'm sharing this info because they do a great job, but I also will fight you for an appointment so get your dialing finger ready.

I purchased a one-month massage membership through Groupon and had my first appointment with Geri…read more She does excellent deep tissue work, and I felt incredibly relaxed by the end of the nearly two hour massage. She made a great start on loosening up some areas that are consistently tight, and I can already feel the difference. Prior to your massage, the therapist will chat briefly with you about your goals for the session. They also offer water and a small snack plate (sliced apple and carrot, cracker, and chocolate) which you can enjoy before or after your massage, which is a really nice touch. Following the massage, they'll let you know what areas of tension they noticed, and give suggestions for things you can do at home to help relieve them. Their scheduling system is a little unusual - you don't make an appointment for a certain length of massage. Rather you choose wellness session or full body treatment- each of which has a time range. It's not clear how the therapist decides on the length of the session, although you are able to let them know if you need to be done in a certain amount of time. Also, although they have evening and weekend hours, those seem to be booked well in advance, so if you don't have daytime availability it may be difficult to get in. Street parking is easy to find, but is 2 hours during the day, which might be a problem with longer sessions. Overall this is a really nice place for a massage, and I definitely recommend Geri!

It's the massage parlor of my dreams! Because it's newly opened, there weren't many customers, which made me feel safer and less at risk of viral infection. Their masseuses told us they don't want too many people coming in, as they don't want to work when they're exhausted. They want to have the best energy to give each customer the best massage. I think they're right. Some massage parlors have too many customers every day, which I think is bad. They want each masseuse to serve five customers a day, giving them the best possible massage. I completely agree, so I'll probably be a regular here. I highly recommend everyone try it!

The combination was a very nice mix when most places just do relaxation massages or do add on for hot towel, hot stone or aromatherapy. She also did firm to deep pressure which was nice for someone that puts his body through the paces in the gym. She also asked about pressure a couple time and left it up to me to initiate talking during massage which I did not so total relaxation was achieved.
