On my last shopping trip to this particular World Market I had a thought, the number of world class retailers and restaurants that have come and gone while World Market has remained at the Redfield Promenade, even another World Market in town. I am thinking of Good Guys, Bed Bath & Beyond, Borders, Claim Jumper, Chevys... An the sole survivor has been World Market. I am sure it is because they are unique and relevant. This retailer offers kind of merchandise that always leaves me looking for what is new. Over the years the store has had different management that and stock levels sometimes looks great and sometimes looks a bit over shopped.. Time for an update. Today this is my go-to relaxing place while my wife shops next door at Nordstroms, lol. We are also regular customers at your Oakland, CA location in Jack London Square. Quality/Quantity - Back in the day, this was my go-to place for exotic wines, beers, and bulk candy. Now this is the place where my daughter likes to try different drinks, beers. We spend much of our time in the unique wine department. I now check out all the international food as I have discovered it is much easier just buying it from here than trying to haul it back from overseas! Atmosphere - Cut and pasted "from the business" on Yelp because I would NOT do a good job describing this company: "Eye-catching, trend-setting home accents, an awe-inspiring array of international foods/wines & and much more..." "beauty & excitement of global bazaars." Plenty of mall parking. Service - Good. But mostly self service. And after browsing the aisles, I am usually found in the furniture/patio furniture area sitting and Yelping, lol. Price - Items sold at cost, plus ten percent; this was the Costco's model at one time. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1958 with your 240 locations. I appreciate that this place is still open. I do love going in and looking at all the different things. It's like a cultural experience just going there. Sometimes I like to pretend I'm not in Nevada. I specifically come here for the crepe mix. Hard to find, priced well at 7.99 and excellent. Go get yourself a 20$ crepe maker off Amazon. It will change your life. The cashier was super mellow very attentive and helped me with their rewards program. Store was clean. I couldn't ask for more. No line on a Sat evening. read more

The time we visited, the store was having a Easter Egg Hunt promotion inside the store; sadly, we didn't find any or stopped looking for them after a while because we actually stated shopping around for the stuff we went in there for. After a few minutes, we bought a couple of snacks; the ladies at the registers were very efficient, they were quickly ringing up customers, so even though the line was long, it moved pretty quickly. I know Covid has caused some crazy things to happen with businesses, but when you purchase two identical items and tag lists price at $9.99 and the other item is listed at $14.99, something is very wrong. Especially when Both items ring up as $14.99. The explanation I was given was that the $9.99 item had not been changed to the higher price. While I could receive credit for the difference between the one marked $14.99 and ticketed as $9.99, I would still be paying the higher price for my second item. Add a time when businesses are struggling and customers are struggling with higher prices every place we shop, this seems like adding insult to injury. read more

I've never been to the World Market before but we went in there for a cake and ran into the food bar. My partner and I stared at each other after we looked at the food and we instantly wanted to eat it. We were confused on the process but the employees there were very friendly and walked us through. After we paid the good price for the amount, we began eating and to be honest my expectations weren't high but it surprised me on how good the food is. I was greeted in the store by an employee working out there. She asked me if I was a member, and I wasn't. She told me how to join and helped me do it right there on my phone. Unique items like lighting from Turkey and pictures from France. The very back is a mini grocery store. You can find exotic coffees and teas. Candies from around the world. And fun snack items for parties. To the left of the area is the fabulous wine and beer shop. More unique, hard to find and affordable choices in libations. Some many micro beers. The hard to find German whites you can't pronounce. And lots and lots of bubblies to choose from. For the disparate they still have white Zin- oh yes I did just judge you. The left side of the store is reserved for dinning furniture and service wear. They have the best deals on unique gifts and they send out fantastic coupons when you sign up for their rewards club. I love all of their products (food and beverage wise) but the standouts are import snacks and candies (I can finally get beans in tomatoe sauce in the US!!) and their beer by the bottle selections. You can grab a 6 pack and fill it with whatever looks good. Not huge bottles or 6 packs of one new beer you may love or hate, but amazingly perfect single, normal size bottles. I'm huge fan of World Market--both online and in store. This store is so clean, well-organized, and has a fantastic selection. My experience with other World Market stores always left me frustrated because they were out of stock on the new and exciting products--but not this location! They have an excellent selection and so many of the new items that are seen on the website. The employees are nice and helpful. A couple times I've been standing in a huge line to have only one cashier ringing customers up and other employees standing near the registers but not actually working. I've never been in a huge rush so it wasn't a big deal. I'm excited to live close to this location and see all the fun things they get in store throughout the seasons (and especially the holidays!). read more

I forget how much I love this store. I honestly can't leave here without finding something that I have to have. They have fun home decor and kitchen supplies but also an awesome, and I mean awesome, selection of beer and wine. They have decent prices on beer and you can create your own six or twelve pack from a number of different breweries which is great if you want to try something out without too much of a commitment. They have a great selection of snacks and I love being able to get some of my favorite things from when I studied abroad in Spain. The food is on the pricier side so it's more of a treat for me but you can find some good deals here and there. I'm so completely frustrated with this company's complete disregard for the customer. I've been trying to make an online purchase at the Reno location all day for a couple of candle holders specifically for my Dia de los Muertos Ofrenda. I finally called to make the purchase over the phone & was informed that the 2 items that were listed on their website are not in store. My frustration continued as the woman "assisting" me kept referring to these as "Halloween" items. I'd very gently tried, more than once, to redirect her references to Dia de los Muertos & finally had to give her a lesson in cultural sensitivity. I explained that I would be down to the store after school as I'm a school teacher. She pretty much told me that this would NOT make any difference because they couldn't "get to the pallet until Wednesday IF the items were indeed on the pallet. When I came in, I'd been informed that they weren't available & the woman I'd initially spoken to was "in a meeting". I then asked them IF I could have them brought in from another location & was informed that " they don't do that" but that they could be available in Carson City. That'd mean an additional 2 hours just to make the trip, the purchase & my return home IF I didn't hit traffic. This IS EXACTLY WHY I don't do much business with this store anymore...they used to be my first choice for ALL of my gift shopping because they have such beautiful & unique products. read more

I love all of the different bohemian decor and furnishings in this store. Unfortunately, these items are all super pricey. World Market does have some pretty good sales from time to time though. The exotic/imported foods they offer are extensive and really reasonable priced for the most part. We get a lot of our dried florals there, like rose petals, hibiscus, and lavender, all for under $2. I love exploring and finding all of the fun and interesting things the store has to offer. You could definitely spend a huge amount of time in there. This place is great, you can get snacks and sweets from around the world (European candy is the bomb!), pretty jewelry, reasonably priced xmas ornaments, and many other fun, unique items. That said, they really need to do something about the check-out lines. Everytime I come here I have to wait at least 5 mins to pay. The checkers are sooo slow and they almost always only have one cash register open. For goodness sake, open another cash register! If you see the line starting to back up, get another employee and open up the other three, rarely used cash registers. If you don't have enough employees, hire more. Please streamline your checkout process, it's very inefficient. read more

I don't often go there looking for something, but frequently stop by to "shop," which is dangerous, because that''s when I usually find something "I have to have." LOL Lots of imports of furniture and gourmet food items (packaged foods). Bought counter chairs there years ago and even a couple of odd tables for my home. Of course, they always have kitchen items and gadgets... I love gadgets! Great wine selection. Join their "buyers club" for discounts and coupons. When my Dublin-born brother-in-law is in town, one of the first places he wants to go is here because he can stock up on some items that he finds hard to find where he lives now in NJ. For example, we are huge Wispas fanatics. They are a rare treat and at $1.99, pricy for candy bars, but THEY ARE WISPAS. Shaq is the man! I brought a client here to look for some rugs, lighting and accessories. The whole team helped us get items from the back and track down out of stock inventory. Once we got to Scandinavian Designs, we learned that the special order sofa arrived in a totally different color and could not be changed. We had to bring almost everything back that we had just purchased at CPWM. Shaq was so gracious and patient with our return. I really appreciated his understanding and professionalism.
