Amazing little shop located in a strip mall in central Reno. The focus is Mid century modern furniture, decor, and a smaller section of clothing and personal items. I love my bar ware and there was a huge selection to pick from, oh was that fun! I found a pair of old fashioned glasses with a gold sailboat and then I had to show some restraint to not purchase much more! Not to be side tracked by all the barware, don't forget to check out the great selection of chairs, audio equipment (record players, etc), tables, kitchenware and more! There was a cute boutique women's clothing store inside and off to the right of the main entrance. They were even running a summer sale with pricing being very reasonable. We are in process of moving to Reno (it's a two-year process!) and in need of furniture until we can move all of our stuff. My girlfriend mentioned that her neighbor had a good purchase here, so she and I visited. The place is so pretty -- antique stores and used furniture shops sometimes have this dingy, dusty feel, but this place has none. Some reviewers mentioned that it's "nicely curated," and I think that description is perfect. We found so many things that I wanted. Chairs! Couches! Dining sets! Lamps! What an adorable store!!!! We love the mid century furniture and this place has it. All wonderful unique mid century/danish furniture available, literally anything mid century under the sun! They have record players, old bikes, chairs, tables, desks, you name it. Not one piece is the same which really makes it different. We spoke with the store owner and she was soooo polite and willing to help us find what we needed! Of course it was a spur of the moment stop so we had to take some measurements of some furniture and we will be back to continue looking for what we need...or maybe don't need but have to have! read more

I mean- in theory this place COULD be amazing! The pictures sure look great and I LOVE me some mid-century modern furnishings. However, I have gone there FOUR times during their posted regular business hours and each and every time they were closed. It's become the running joke in my family "hey- you gonna go try and see if Red Chair is open again today?" The worst part is we needed to buy a couch, a coffee table, end tables and a dining set and I really wanted to buy them there because that is my target aesthetic! After striking out so many times, I ended up just ordering everything online. It super bums me out because I was so excited when I saw that this place existed here in Reno. Big ole bummer. read more

Thank you Yelp reviewers for encouraging me to visit this store. We were in search of a new dining set, not even thinking of going used because we had just got rid of our very used set, but we decided to stop by the Red Chair and we are now the proud owners of a mid-century dining set brought back to life by the owners of Red Chair. They gave us a very reasonable price on a 50 year old table and 8 chairs then offered to refinish and re-upolster the chairs for an equally reasonable fee. The new set is 25 years older than the set I got rid of, but with styles trending mid-century these days you would never know this is not a brand new set. I was able to go to Mill End fabrics and find just the fabric I wanted for my set and it was ready for delivery within 2 weeks. HIGHLY recommend a shopping trip to this locally owned and caring establishment! read more

My husband and I are outfitting our place from scratch. It was stressful enough having to relocate and make a big lifestyle change just as the pandemic was starting. We were just starting our journey building a small collection of mid-century furniture and discovered Aaryn's shop through Chairish. I called to learn more about what she had available that likely was not posted. Our experience with Aaryn (and Aaron, delivery and setup HERO) was top notch. We experienced great communication to set up a time to visit. We were briefed about COVID-related protocols in place. We felt comfortable browsing the showroom warehouse and found several great items aside from the counter stools we initially planned on buying. Items were in good condition and prices and negotiation process were all very fair. Aaryn even made sure we knew we could have a lounger re-upholstered to achieve a firmer seat - so we did it! Just for them to be following me and rudly saying "don't touch that" or "that's not for sale"...then why does it not say "NOT FOR SALE" or "DO NOT TOUCH". Aaryn and Aaron, the owners of this incredible little store are as kind and as helpful as they come! 100% worth the trip to see them, even if it's just to meet the folks who work there, or to find some inspiration in their lovingly curated collection of furniture, home decor, art and accessories. When we decided to purchase a chair and ottoman from them, they insisted on reconditioning the leather and wood prior to pick up. I almost didn't recognize our furniture when I came for it. It was absolutely gorgeous! They went way above and beyond for us, and in doing so we'll be fans and customers for life. Red Chair is clearly a rad, local family business, and they seem to have a lot of irons in the fire at any given time. As other reviewers have commented before... The store hours can be hit or miss.
