World Market is such a beautiful store. It has so much nostalgia for me, because here I can find some delicious German treats that I'd have as a kid that I'd never know still exist if it weren't for World Market. There are isles of international cookies, chocolate and other goods. There's also beautiful furniture, pillows and kitchen items. I personally wouldn't invest in a couch from World Market because it's typically very expensive, and you can find similar items at other retailers. But they have unique accent chairs and small attractive furniture items. My favorite thing to get here, in addition to the chocolate, are the Christmas ornaments. They are so, so beautiful, and so unique. There is so much detail in each one. Now that it's after Christmas, they are all 50% off, making each one around $2.50 - $4.00. If you have a World Market in your area, I'd encourage you go and check them out. While some items are more expensive, the unique items, hard to find items and the nostalgic items are what it's worth stopping for. read more

I waited patiently for the sales associate to help the person in front of me -- she went all the way to the back to get a jar for the customer; then she tried to figure out how to give him his online order, having forgotten the password for the online portal, so it took her a while. When it was finally my turn, I had these delicate boxes I was purchasing -- which she actually said were a mistake for World Markey to produce so delicately -- and I said I'd like to place them in a box so they don't break and she immediately said I cant help you and you'll need to buy our bags at ten cents each. I was shocked. She was abrupt and so unhelpful. read more

World Market is Pier1 on steroids. It is one of my favorite stops when visiting family in VA. I first visited the Manchester location for a Yelp Elite event. While the event was awesome, I didn't feel like I could rate that experience. The place was crowded, people were pushy and I couldn't get to half of the things that I wanted to see. The people working the registers were still learning, so the lines were moving slow. On my second visit i was able to browse and really take in everything. This location seems a bit smaller than what I am used to shopping in their other locations. Let's talk food! The grocery aisles are way too tight! You can barely squeeze by another person in those aisles. They did a good job of grouping the types of foods, so you can find something quickly. If you go in there without a purpose, you could definitely miss a ton! read more

It's very impressive indeed. We picked up some food items- a box of petit fours, some chocolates and cookies for gifting, and a cute little serving accessory for the dining room. Such a disappointment.... this store has nothing good and the things they have are expensive. First, the name world market is deceiving... I expected it to be something like Whole Foods but it like Home Goods meets Pier One in India...90% of the goods are from India. I expected the store to offer food & products from around the world like "snack crates"... but too bad. The only reason I shopped here was coz I had a $50 gift card (yay!) which I ended up buying things like olives and pickles, pocky sticks, palmier cookies, organic ghee, brownie mix and a few other snacks which I probably would have got for cheaper elsewhere. The quality of the tri-colored quinoa I got from here was so, so inferior. Not my kinda store, it's just not appealing to me at all. read more

So this review is NOT about the Yelp elite event, whoever reported my previous review didn't read what I wrote. I was impressed with what I saw because I attended a Yelp elite event here and came BACK with my husband OUTSIDE of a Yelp elite event. I guess I'll have to go back again to upload more pics again because the ones I took in store when I visited as a consumer were deleted. My husband and I purchased $30 worth of Canadian water which you can't find anywhere else in the state but here. I also came home with another $20 worth of copper home decor which will beautify my kitchen and all the copper items for sale are very reasonably priced. Since it was opening weekend, the employees were working really hard to keep everything well stocked, and everyone was super friendly. I also now possess a unique little Russian snow globe for my cube. I will be back again for sure with Jay pretty soon I'm sure for more Canadian water and to check out new products. read more

Still one of my favorite options for gifts and home decor! (And candy...shhh) I came in with a friend today to pick up some summer entertaining stuff soooo I'm now the proud owner of a plastic cactus-shaped thermos with loopy straw, some 50% off pillows, yet another lamp, a jar of pesto, and a bunch of other miscellany that has nothing to do with what I came in for. Welcome to the neighborhood! I have been waiting for this place to open since I saw the signs go up, and I was not disappointed. Need a fun little gift to reward a child for good behavior, they have it. Need a hostess gift, they gave it. Need to pamper yourself with fancy soap, unique bar wear or table decor, they have it. Beautiful, affordable furniture, lighting options and area rugs. I love the specialty food section, especially the 1 or 2 oz spice packets that are perfect if you need enough for a few recipes, and don't want a huge container that you will use once or twice and then the rest just gathers dust in the cabinet. The staff is welcoming and helpful, and everyone has a smile of their face. I plan to visit weekly. It's like traveling around the world, no passport required. read more

From the amazing selection of furniture, to the wide variety of International foods, to the aroma of the candle and hand made soap section I must say I was overly impressed. I walked out with with a large array of things from candles to Coffee flavor syrup (yes a sugar free syrup section that is a coffee lovers dream)! I think this store is going to be a great asset to the Manchester community, along with the helpful and friendly staff! Thank you World Market for coming to Connecticut!! If you like trendy bohemian chic with earthy colors and unique items... you'll really like browsing this place. It is like Francesca's, Home Goods, those cute Target finds and Anthropologie style all combined. I was actually expecting the prices to be higher (think Anthropologie's 50 bucks for a candle) but World Market is priced reasonably. The home goods style is on the feminine side but the furniture and kitchen area had some neutral nice finds. The "world" part of its title is obvious when you head to the market section - foods from all over!! Candy, drinks, specialty foods, and more that you really can't find anywhere else. This place is going to be really busy around the holidays (stocking stuffers galore!). As with most brick and mortar stores, you can find a lot more online too. I'm buying a house this month and plan to spend all of my remaining cash at this place. It fits my style and has really unique items! The "his turn" or "her turn" dishwasher magnet is going to come in handy, but shh! Don't tell my boyfriend the magnet has a "her turn" side. ;) read more

I went to this store today as a part of the Yelp event for the store's grand opening. I have browsed their website to find many interesting things before, but today was my first trip to a physical location. This store was a more global version of a Pier One Imports, with more categories of merchandise. There is home decor, food, bath, candles, stationery, dining and a few novelty items. If you like boho chic, shabby chic, Moroccan, Indian kind of home decor; this will be your go to place. And I love this kind of decor. There is a huge selection of coffees, teas, international candy, beverages, and foods. Lots of mini sized international foods are stocked in about 2 aisles, and they're too hard to resist. I did end up buying some olive oil and balsamic vinegar combinations. I did take off one star because it is a little pricey to shop here. I guess there is a premium for items sourced from all around the world. The staff was helpful, checkout was easy, inspite of a long queue, and parking is good. There are many shops around in the area; I mention it because I like to club my shopping trips. No driving for just one store; thank you very much. There is something interesting for everyone, no matter what your taste. Check it out, if nothing, it will make for an interesting evening exploring novelty items. read more

HomeGoods + Pier1 = World Market! Very impressed with the style and selection of pieces from chairs to quilts to kitchenware and more. Also better prices than both stores and seems like better quality than HomeGoods, but can't back that up yet until time passes for my purchases items. Very unique store. The store has a mix of everything from all different corners of the world. Lovely kitchen/dining section with every accoutrement you could need for a spectacular dinner party, napkins, platters, serve ware galore. Furniture and decor accessories for your home. A grocery section that touches on perhaps every region, Italy, Greece, Asia, India, really all of Europe is represented in some way with candies, chocolates, teas, drinks, pastas, sauces, spices, chips, dips & oils, and cured meats & cheeses. A section with toys & books, and a lovely bath section with towels, mats, creams & aromatic soaps. I would say a mix of TJMaxx/Homegoods meets Pier One meets your local ethnic market. This is just a great store to go to. Became aware of it when there was a Yelp event hosted there prior to its opening. Made it a point to go there a few weeks later and loved it. I kick myself for not making the Yelp event, but thankful for the information. Nice store with tons of good household items. Had to stop around the back of the store where they had world snacks and picked up a few that we haven't found elsewhere. All in all a nice store to shop in, and would recommend checking it out if you have not been there. read more

It's open! I live in the area and this is my first time in a world market, but my wife was really excited about it after everything she heard about it. The staff inside were super friendly and the place was really well laid out and organized (it did just open though). What I was really impressed with were their selection of international foods/snacks. Not only was it a really diverse selection, but the selection seemed to have very popular snacks from those countries. Forgot a souvenir for your relative on your last international trip? No worries! Just pick it up here! :) This world market lets you bring your dog too, so long as it fits within their shopping carts. Unfortunately, our dog is too big to fit in their carts. Selection of furniture was alright, but there was a very good selection of coffee and tea items. They've got everything from matcha whisks to coffee aeropresses. And don't forget the coffee beans and tea leaves in the food section! Overall, very impressed with this place. My wife and I will certainly be coming back again! read more

I've known about World Market for a few years and I was super excited for it to arrive in CT. In addition to this one in Manchester they're taking a very long time to stand up one in my hometown, West Hartford. That one won't be open for at least 3 more months. When my wife and I learned that the Manchester one was open we went to check it out on a recent Sunday morning. Cool. Store. They have some very neat stuff and much of it is of a reasonable price too. We didn't really "need" anything. The one thing I was hoping to score were some dishtowels but they had few to choose from and we need something in a gray. Anyway, that didn't spoil the trip and we went through each and every aisle, slowly. We ended up buying a mish-mosh of things. 3 little fake succulent plants (I have cats, they eat real plant), a bottle of black truffle oil, a spatula and some lemon cookies. I particularly loved the food section. If you like seltzer they seem to have cornered the market on some brands I haven't seen in ages like NY Seltzer and Clearly Canadian. I was psyched to see the foreign candy bars but not psyched at the prices of them, $4 for a Violet Crumble is a lot. The service and checking out was swift, our cashier was very polite and he got me to sign up for their rewards program scoring me an on the spot 15% discount on my purchase. What a joy to sign up for something in under a minute using my phone. It beats the pants off of filling out a little form while standing in line. Check this place out. A great addition to Manchester! Had heard from my cousin about this store in California and I really loved the store. The outstanding selection of the beverages are just outstanding. They have tons of things and makes you lost to select one! I tired the ginger beer (Aussies) amazing flavor! The store overall is so colorful, vibrant and speaks out differently than the normal stores do. Unique stuffs for unique people is finally here. I was originally here for the Yelp event, but was so impressed that I dragged my sister and her friend back a few days later. The store on my second trip was still terribly busy, but the staff were amazing: incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful. They kept the shelves well-stocked, organized, and squeaky clean. They made it seem like the store had been here for ages, not just a week or so! As for the products, I particularly enjoyed the artwork and foods sections. My sister and I liked the variety in both sections and ended up purchasing a few items from each. The price was comparable to Home Goods and the quality is good. read more

I visited the store as part of the grand opening celebration. They were very generous to us with samples and other goodies. The store is beautiful and the employees are very helpful and courteous. The items in the store appear to be good quality and reasonably priced. The bad: I do not think the World Market chain will last. What is it? Whole foods? Pier One Imports? Bed, Bath, and Beyond? Also, I am not quite sure about the quality of some of the products. We bought some "World Market" non-stick pans. The jury is still out as to how they will stand up (stay tuned). read more

I visited this store as part of a yelp grand opening event. I had been to a World Market once before in California so I knew what to expect and I wasn't disappointed. The space is large, bright and airy. Lots of fun colorful merchandise displayed very nicely. The staff is friendly and helpful. Great international food section-many familiar treats and brands I recognized from living outside of the U.S. For the most part prices are reasonable and there is a good selection at a variety of price points. I was lured to Manchester for the grand opening and so glad we made the hike! There are some great finds for a steal here. (There are also some over priced items as well but be a smart shopper!) I love the appeal of imported items from around the world. It's nice to have real, authentic items. My friend bought a beautiful etched tagine. FWIW, Amazon had nothing like it. Sure, they have tagines but none was as pretty as this! The food section was super fun. Lots of nostalgic food and beverages. Clearly Canadians sparkling water - remember those?! The previous posters all mentioned it's like a mash-up of Pier One and Whole Foods but I think it's more like Home Goods and Trader's Joe's. Definitely more affordable. Finally making its way to CT, this chain is a cross between HomeGoods and Pier 1. It has a unique and fun food section...great place for trying foreign candies and sodas. Coffee, coffee, coffee (and tea!)...wide selection. Furniture and home furnishings are good quality and priced between the two stores mentioned above. They have a wicked cute toy and gift/gag gift section which was unexpected. The staff were beyond helpful and friendly. It was a great Yelp event and welcome for World Market in Manchester! This is the second World Market I've visited, the first being in South Carolina. The new Manchester store is lovely- big, bright, and not too cluttered. I was impressed with the attentive employees- I just been asked three times if I was finding everything I needed. The prices were also better than I remembered. Everything from the furniture to the soaps seemed to be at the perfect price point. Normally I have a hard time restraining myself in home decor stores, but the general style isn't in line with my design sense. But I will probably visit again in the future to pick up candles, yummy snacks, or kitchen decor. read more

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I went to the store for assistance because i wanted to purchase chairs online but I could not get into my account nor receive a password reset from the company. Plus I wanted to use a 20% discount. Store associate, Nicholas was so very helpful and courteous in trying to navigate the site with me. Since it was clear that I couldn't get into the site to order, Nicholas searched the back room and checked with Michael the store manager on how best to proceed. They both walked through a couple possible solutions for me to get my order in and get my discount. Nicholas put in the order for me and also they both told me to call or come back if there were any problems. I am so impressed with the customer service from this store - but even more so, the kindness and care that they expressed. I am looking forward to receiving my chairs and plan to shop at the Manchester CT World Market more frequently. read more

I love this store. While it looks like a Home Goods from the front, in the rear is an amazing food market. You can find nonperishable food from all over the world. It has the best selection of coffee and soda syrups (including sugar free) anywhere. The coffee is also very good and reasonably priced. Make sure to sign up for the rewards program for great deals and coupons. My only complaint is that the checkout lines can be long. read more
