Now this place is my JAM. The proprietor is open to negotiate on the esoteric bits that I drag forth from his inventory. He usually gives a fair price if you nudge a bit. Please be aware this place is not organized, you have to dig and wander. The inventory is hit or miss and you can go there with something specific in mind but it's not Target and you have to be flexible. Much of the stuff is in meh condition, MINT for a DIY re-purposer. The inventory often puts the shabby in shabby chic. The outside looks like a graveyard of old house renovations. This is where you go to buy an old window to turn into a picture frame or a bird bath for zombie birds around Halloween. (don't you judge my imagination). There are odd collector items here ranging from the Nazi stamps that a friend of mine found once to old lamps, weird artwork, tiles, findings for the household like hooks, loose silverware and tiny jewelery boxes. Random and oh so fun... (not Nazis, they are oh so un-fun but apparently creeps collect that crap). Absolute worst service Ive ever received. Online states that owner is a fair negotiator but that could not be further from the truth. He was very condescending and appeared almost annoyed that someone was trying to sell or even donate. Please sell at any other place but here. This was truly a waste of gas and effort. read more

So I've got to say, this place is pretty dang cool. They don't call it the junk shop for nothin! It's jam packed with junk, but there is so much cool stuff I can guarantee there's something for everyone here. My husband and I collect Civil War memorabilia and we found a portrait of Robert E. Lee for our civil war wall in our house, and I found some cool old baking tins hidden in a corner. Have a stop in sometime, there's def something for everyone. read more

The Junk Shop is packed with the cool, the weird, and the unusual. Every time I stop in there's new inventory, all nifty vintage stuff at reasonable prices. The owner Eric is friendly and helpful. This place is a must-visit for anyone who loves picking and antiquing. read more

If you like tag sales or just being snoopy, this is a really fun shop to check out. Always something new! You could spend all day in there an not see everything. Avoid at all costs. This AND the Blue House, which is owned by the same guy. Despite it's hilarious name, this is an antique store. Real sense of humor on the owner, Eric Hathaway... BUYERS BEWARE: He isn't an appraiser. He just puts a price on his stuff, and it's usually WAY too much. SELLERS AVOID: I had a few pieces of antique furniture that my grandmother willed to me. He gave me $200 for what I later learned should have been $4000. I tried to get $500 from him, and he kept saying that it costs him money to hold onto it and to sell it. I guarantee he sold it at a huge profit... The guy is a charlatan. My friend had this dinner set, some fancy ceramic or something. Eric said he'd look at it and took one plate for assessment. He then "LOST" the plate. My friend called him weekly for like a month, and the guy finally said "I never took any plate". So he called the cops, and apparently the guys is a Canton hometown hero or something because the cops said they won't talk to him. He's a charlatan, a fraud, and a thief. Not sure what the deal is with the guy who wrote the last review, but thats your own fault for not know what something is worth and just selling it...We have been going here for years...mostly finding stuff to re-purpose...its a great place and the guy who runs it is great as well...just dont be a jerk and he wont be one either.. you have to dig, but there are always neat things everywhere...i would not really call it an antique shop at all...if you have antiques,,,try going to antique shop..just a place filled with al sorts of cool stuff.. don't go there expecting to find something specific,,,go there with an open mind and you will be pleasantly surprised read more

I don't agree with the previous reviewer at all either. I live in town and the two owners (husband and wife) of the two shops are decent great people, just trying to make an honest hardworking living and might I add doing a major part for the earth by recycling things some would otherwise toss. In both shops are an eclectic mix of kitsch, antique, vintage and cool items. It's a great place to buy a gift or a fixer upper. But they are both great places to find something really special too. I'm an avid craigslist shopper, have been all over CT looking and no one does the prices better than they do....or play better tunes. I can guarantee I have something in every room of my house from one of these two shops. And they were bought with a thank you and a smile. Shops like these are not for everyone of course, but if you are the type to poke your head in and browse around, chances are you won't be disappointed or say to yourself that you will need to get back there. read more

I had to jump in and say that my dealings with both the junk shop and the blue door have been wonderful. I have bought many many things over the years from both stores and I have always been very happy with their advice, service and prices. I agree with the review from Jameson, you should go in there with an open mind because there are all kind of hidden treasures at both stores. The four favorite things I have bought at the stores are a knock down armoire, a large pine table with four leaves that's expands to 110 inches, an empire console for my foyer which I bought a marble top for and a funky table that I put next to one of my leather couches. The prices reflect as is but the owners will give you advice on how to refinish. And you know you will be refinishing a quality piece. There is definitely something for everyone if you have an open mind. Perhaps the disgruntled reviewer thought his pieces were worth more than they were worth and that is why he was unhappy but I can vouch for the owners being extremely honest as to what items are worth. read more
