"'I'd gladly lose me to find you I'd gladly give up all I…read morehave To find you, I'd suffer anything and be glad I call that a bargain, The best I ever had" (The Who) Favarh was jampacked with bargain hunters examining their inventory today. I saw racks and racks of men's and women's clothing, shoes, accessories, footwear, household goods, dishes, and kitchen equipment in the front of the store. In the back of the store were CD's, record albums, thousands of books, collectibles and pretty much everything. I even saw three Pez dispensers with likenesses of former presidents. Much of the inventory is what I'd call vintage, which is a code word for "old". Those items may not be for everyone, but if you're into old dishes, bric a brac, dolls, China, wall hangings, glassware, jewelry, furniture, and lamps, well Favarh might just be what you're looking for. Today was 50% off day, and I scooped up two ties marked at $2 each for a grand total of $2.13. You might find a thrift store out there with better quality merchandise, but I'm not sure you'll find one with as much stuff as I saw here. And since their proceeds go to charity, it's well worth your time to check out their stock and see what bargains appeal to you.

A very organized thrift shop and for a good cause. The employees were also super friendly. Favarh…read moreis a non profit organization which helps people with disabilities since 1958. The employees there are volunteers. Once I walked in, it looked like a boutique. Clothes, shoes, and cutlery/china were in the front area. Everything was organized by size and color. I immediately found a Vineyard Vines sweater that I loved for $12. They have sales based on color of the day/week; I would ask the employee for that information. In the back section, they had household items, books, and miscellaneous items. You can also sign up for their free rewards card; you gain points from every purchase and that adds up for future discounts. Overall, a great thrift store and I look forward to shopping there.

Second Chance Shop is a very nice thrift store in Simsbury that I heard from my friend Dan about…read more Their hours are limited so be sure to check before you go. Their clothing racks are organized by color and size, and everything is in excellent condition. I however am mostly drawn to their home items, like their plates and dishes. I once picked up eight dessert plates for 15 cents each. None of them had a single scratch or nick. They have a whole bookshelf of hard cover books for just $2.00 each. There's plenty of jewelry, I saw a really cool pair of large pearl earrings, but they were clip ons. They also have some beautiful artwork, that's already framed. This is a lovely thrift store, that I wouldn't skip stopping by!

"One thing I think you should know I ain't gonna miss you…read morewhen you go I'm just second hand news" (Fleetwood Mac) It kind of feels wrong to call the Second Chance Shop a "Thrift Store" because its the GD nicest thrift store I 've ever seen. If there's such a thing as a hgh end thrift store, this is it. It's super organized and gorgeous inside, with jewelry, clothing, household and kitchen accesories and a lot more. The pricing is ridiculously low. I saw $1 books, $5 shirts (one of which I bought), $5 jeans and dress slacks, lots of dresses under $10, and a box of 25 cent greeting cards. They are affiliated with The Village for Families and Children in Glastonbury, Suffield, West Hartford and Simsbury, so all of the store's proceeds go to a great cause. We know we'll be back!
